"If it isn't a dream, then where the hell am I?"
Kuroko became slightly frightened. His first thought was he had died in his sleep from some kind of sudden issue. He was obviously scared, his expression showed it.
"No… I don't wanna die yet.."
Kuroko began to tear up. The unknown voice didn't know what to do.
"Turn around and face me, boy," the unknown voice said sternly.
Kuroko stood up and wiped his face of tears. He then turned around, and was now looking face to face with a tall woman.
The woman had a brownish-reddish hair color, with brown eyes. She was beautiful. She had on a crown with what looked to have been made of pearls, and was wearing a long white dress with frills. She had what seemed to be yellow shoulder pads on as well. She even had wings.
"You may recognize me. I believe you took great interest in Greek mythology, yes?"
"I did take an interest in Greek mythology. You're Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn."
The woman smiled at Kuroko.
"Indeed I am. It is nice to meet your acquaintance, Arata Kuroko."
"Likewise," Kuroko had gained his composure back.
"I have summoned you for a reason. Today, you will start life in another world. I am aware you have trauma of loneliness and abandonment. But you must leave behind Koichi. As of today, you will live in a new world. One that your world would consider the 'fantasy' genre."
"Does that mean there's going to be magic?"
"Magic, swordsmanship, and much more."
"Wow…"
Kuroko was in awe. He always enjoyed reading manga, and now he would be in a fantasy world just like one.
"But I am not sending you there for fun. You have an objective."
"I would like to guess that there is some evil brewing in this world. And you're going to ask me to take care of it?"
Eos chuckled a bit, "Indeed I am."
"Can I get a run down?"
"All I can tell you is that this evil we speak of is near the strength of the gods. He is much too powerful for you to take on now. But, you will, of course, train with an experienced magic user. I recommend that once I transport you to your new home town, you search for him."
"Any hint on where he is?"
"No, you must figure it out yourself. It's a test to see if you're truly the one who will save us."
"I see…"
"Now, you will start with an ability that is only capable of being used by gods. A 'menu.' A menu can display the abilities and statistics of other people in this world. As a god, we can 'level up' to increase our statistics."
"For the sake of time, you can call these 'statistics' stats."
"I understand. Moving on, completing requests and defeating monsters will grant the 'experience' to level up. You may also kill someone to gain a portion of the 'experience' they withhold. Now, you will not be the only one with this 'Menu' ability. There are a few humans who have found the scroll to activate this skill."
"I understand. I thank you for the information and skill you are providing me with," Kuroko had said, with newfound motivation.
"Now, I will transport you to the entrance gates of a town. From there, you shall gain experience to level up and gain new skills. Once again, I recommend you search for the teacher I spoke of. I have faith in your potential. Good luck."
Those were Eos's final words to Kuroko. Before he could respond, he was suddenly in front of a town's gates.
"Couldn't even get a response out, huh," Kuroko sighed.
"Only one thing to do. Check out the 'Menu' skill, evaluate my surroundings, and get some gear to start leveling up."
Kuroko realized an issue. Eos never explained how to use the Menu skill she had blessed him with.
"I guess it's worth a shot to just act like I'm opening a game menu."
Kuroko put out his finger and swiped down, revealing a bright blue menu. The menu read:
