It was a weekday, so the amusement park wasn't too crowded. Only a few families wandered around. Muchen glanced around cautiously, his hand twitching with the urge to hold Yunfeng's, but he restrained himself.
He couldn't forget the state of his lover's house—it was spray-painted and left in a mess, mostly due to his so-called fans. The thought alone made Muchen's heart clench.
He didn't want to be a problem for Yunfeng again. That's why he showed up with a mask and cap as a precaution for their date.
"Wow, this place is awesome! But the rides don't look that thrilling," Yunfeng whispered, looking at the park map.
"Yeah, they're child's play," Muchen scoffed, agreeing.
Yunfeng grinned. "Let's go on the roller coaster first—oh, this one goes backward! Ah!" He excitedly grabbed Muchen's hand and dragged him along.
Feeling Yunfeng's soft palm, Muchen's tense hand loosened. With a satisfying grin, he ran alongside him.
The line for the roller coaster was long, and they waited what felt like an eternity before their turn. Fortunately, they got the first seat.
Yunfeng eagerly strapped himself in.
Muchen, on the other hand, felt strangely uneasy. All his life, he'd been on countless rides and done dangerous stunts, like hanging from the top of buildings. Nothing scared him—but today, something gnawed at his gut.
Out of nowhere, bile rose up his throat.
"Muchen?" Yunfeng's soft call made him panic. He quickly swallowed the disgusting taste and turned toward Yunfeng. "Mmm-hmm."
"You need to strap in like this." Yunfeng demonstrated.
Nodding, Muchen secured himself, though his hands trembled slightly.
Yunfeng gently held his palm, smiling. "It's okay. It'll be over in a few minutes."
Muchen forced a nervous smile.
The ride began slowly, then picked up speed with sharp turns and loops. Muchen squeezed his eyes shut, gripping the safety straps as tightly as possible.
Suddenly, the roller coaster stopped.
Muchen doubtfully opened his eyes.
And then it happened—it went backward.
He instantly panicked, clinging to the safety straps in a death grip.
"Muchen... Chen!"
Yunfeng shook him out of his frozen state. "It's okay. It's over."
"Thank God," Muchen muttered, hastily unstrapping himself with trembling hands. He stumbled out of the ride. "Fuck..." he mumbled under his breath.
A sharp ache throbbed in his lower belly. He leaned down, holding his stomach.
"Muchen!" Yunfeng gently caressed his back. "Are you okay? Should we go to the infirmary? I'm so sorry—I didn't know!"
"It's okay. I'm fine," Muchen whispered through the pain, forcing a smile to reassure Yunfeng.
Even so, Yunfeng's worried expression lingered.
"It's really okay," Muchen gently cupped his face. "Let's go on another ride."
Yunfeng hesitated but eventually nodded, pointing at a carousel on the map. It was a soft, gentle ride—nothing like the roller coaster.
Muchen smiled slightly. 'Aww, why is he so cute?'
Though they were near the bigger rides, Yunfeng instinctively chose a smaller one for Muchen's sake. It was adorable.
They held hands as they walked through the crowd. A few kids ran around, tugging at each other's clothes.
Muchen grinned widely, but then Yunfeng's hand clenched slightly. He noticed him gazing intently at the children.
He immediately pulled Yunfeng aside, shielding him from their rambunctious behavior.
"Kids are cute, aren't they?" Yunfeng whispered in a bitter tone.
Muchen shook his head instantly. "No, no, they're not." He looked up in mock shock. "They're a menace! I don't want a snot-nosed kid running around taking up all my time." He added playfully, "Tsk, look at them with their pants hanging down." He sneaked a careful glance at Yunfeng's face.
Yunfeng's smile had already faded.
Muchen's heart clenched. Their relationship was bound to be childless, and that fact seemed to make Yunfeng insecure.
'I'll do whatever it takes to make him feel safe,' Muchen thought. With a grin, he pulled Yunfeng away from the playful kids.
"Muchen…" Yunfeng hesitated. "What if one day someone gets pregnant because of you? What will you do?"
"Have it aborted," Muchen answered ruthlessly, hoping to ease his insecurities.
Yunfeng's expression dulled.
Before Muchen could say anything more, a foul smell hit him. They had unknowingly walked near a sushi vendor. The smell from a distance made him gag.
He barely held back the bile to avoid embarrassing himself.
"Pregnant..." Yunfeng whispered incoherently.
"I told you, I don't want it. I'll have it aborted," Muchen gritted through clenched teeth. The nausea was unbearable. He couldn't hold on any longer. "I… I have to go." He rushed toward the bathroom.
The moment he was out of sight, he pulled down his mask and vomited into the toilet bowl.
It was endless—he kept vomiting until he collapsed on the floor, hugging the bowl.
"Fuck..." he wiped his mouth, trembling.
Meeting Yunfeng in this state was impossible. His cute Yunfeng would once again feel guilty for asking him to the amusement park.
With shaking hands, Muchen pulled out his phone and made a call. "Shao... I need help."
