"What is a Shattered you say? I should have expected this question knowing you don't have your memories. Very well then, I shall explain it to you."
I decided to ask Luna this question as I was still confused as to why she called me that. I also decided to keep my Level a secret from her for now. I have a feeling that my Level isn't something that should normally occur.
"The Shattered are what we call those who are blessed by death and by being so, they aren't able to die permanently. Do not confuse them for the Undead though, as those do not have the same sentience that you Shattered have. You are much like a human, but with the ability to get stronger it seems… No matter, as long as you don't seek the destruction of Ternia, I shall not deem you as a threat."
That's a lot of information… It's a good thing that all of those are useful to me though. So, I'm basically immortal at this moment. I wonder if I'll still feel pain from any damage. I won't test that though, I need someone else to notice that for me instead.
As for the other kind of being she mentioned, the Undead, I'm quite curious about them. Would they just be zombies or would there be other kinds of undead like skeletons? If so, then I should probably watch out for any arrows that will come towards my way.
"Thank you for explaining. Now… What are the Shattered supposed to do?"
"Your purpose? I suppose it's to become the new Monarch of these lands."
I asked her for more details, but for some reason, she was quite reluctant. Does she know something that the others in this world don't? If so, what is it exactly for her to not tell? Deciding to not incur her wrath, I stopped asking questions and asked her something else.
"About spells… Can you teach me some?"
"Hm…It might make you even more dangerous though."
"Huh? What do you-"
Just before I finished my question, a shard of ice came running towards me. Much like earlier, time slowed down to almost a standstill. I jumped to the side and grabbed the shard. Time began to return to normal again as I looked at Luna.
"Why did you do that…?"
"Don't be saddened now, I was trying to prove my point." You could have just told me. "Just now, you moved so fast that my fastest spell couldn't even catch up to you."
That makes sense. If something like Time Manipulation existed in this world, then order would have fallen and gone into disarray long ago. While pondering such things, I felt something weird happening to my hand that was holding the shard. I looked at it and saw that it was shrinking.
"Geez, tell me if you're going to uncast that spell. That almost scared me."
"I- That's not me doing that."
"Wait, what!?"
The shard kept shrinking until it turned into an orb of blue light. The blue light turned to a dark purple as it began to change forms again. When it was done, all I had on my hand was a black wand with a purple crystal at the edge.
"I- How??" Luna asked me with confusion evident in her voice.
"I don't kno- Oh wait there was a Skills Tab here."
I could almost feel a higher being facepalming at my ignorance as I selected the Skills Tab. There were only four skills.
//Skills
Divine Reflection
Creation
Dragon Lightning
Absorption
I actually expected more…Why do I only have four skills at this high level? I expected at least ten Skills…
"What did you see?" Luna asked me curiously.
"I only have four skills…?"
"Oh? And they are?"
"Divine Reflection, Creation, Dragon Lightning, and Absorption. I know they all sound powerful, but why do I- Um… Luna?" I was gonna ask Luna why I only had four skills, but when I looked in her direction, her face turned pale.
"Do… Do you not know what those first three skills are…?"
"No…? You do know that I don't have most of my memories, right?"
"Ah, right… I apologize. Very well, let me explain it to you, dear future consort," I'm just going to ignore that one for now. "Divine Reflection is a Skill… No, it's an ability that was wielded by the creator, or as we call him Founder, of these lands. He was feared even by gods who roamed these lands before Starfall was as we see it today. The only weakness he had was his mortal body."
"So he got killed in the end?"
"Precisely… You're the second in history to ever wield the Divine Reflection. Not only are you powerful as is, you're also borderline immortal. Not to mention Creation, which was also used by the Founder, and Dragon Lightning, only wielded by the Dragonlord.:
That was a lot to take in… So, from what I learned just now, I have three godly abilities? Doesn't that make me a target for anyone else who's trying to become the Monarch? All of this just makes things more difficult than they already are.
"I'm afraid that you must limit yourself from here on out. If the lingering gods of Starfall find out about your existence, who knows what chaos will befall these lands…"
That… Makes sense. If someone like the Founder existed again, but now borderline immortal, of course the gods would be outraged. The only problem now though is how would I limit myself. I can't just start pulling my punches since even that would take practice. Is there equipment for these kinds of situations?
I asked Luna about it and luckily, there was. They were called Limiter Rings and, as fate would have it, she has ten in hand. We thought that I would only need one or two rings, but that was just a dream of something impossible…
Ten… I needed all ten of the rings to be weakened sufficiently enough. Even then, I'm still ten times more powerful than the average Shattered. Luna told me that Limiter Rings only work for ten uses, after that, it won't work again… Since I used ten at once, I used all of the attempts. If I remove one ring, I can't put it back again since there won't be an effect anyways.
I tested out my new weakened state by making Luna shoot me again with her Ice Shard and this time, it successfully hit. I wasn't able to react to it. It was TOO successful though as it blew my left arm off. It was… not painful at all?
"Why am I not feeling this?"
"I see… so even with the Limiter Rings, your other abnormal traits remain. From what I can tell as of the moment, your tolerance and Mana Pool remained."
"Oh, how much Mana do I have?" I asked as my arm quickly regenerated back. Huh, so Luna wasn't lying about me being borderline immortal. I was quite surprised that the rings reappeared in my newly grown arm too. I guess you need to manually take it off. What Luna told me was both expected and kind of unexpected.
"You? What else? You have infinite Mana. Which shouldn't be possible, but you've already surprised me more than any Shattered has in the short time we've known each other. This much is to be expected from you."
I don't know whether to be flattered by that or not. Either way, that just makes things a bit easier for my weakened state. I can use magic after all. With that in mind, I asked Luna again to teach me magic.
This time, she finally gave in.
-x-???'s POV-x-
I can feel it. He's finally here… That man who's been in my dreams for months now. Judging from his appearance in my dreams, he's also from Earth. I don't recall meeting him back on Earth before, but for some reason, he's been in my dreams lately.
His blood-red eyes and that mark on his right eye. Whenever he turns into that form, the world burns around him as 72 Demon Gods appear. He may be a normal man for now, but I can tell that he'll turn into that monster someday.
A monster that I've deemed the name, Goetia.
I've been preparing to stop him for quite a while now, but with his arrival, I finally felt the difference in our strengths. I've been a casual player of Formosity Pandemonium back on Earth, so my Level is a modest 500. But this man… he's beyond that. I can't match up to him, not at all.
Even with the equipment I've created, all of it won't even graze him… I need to find another way to prevent this calamity… If I don't, my only option is to join him on his journey and try to sway him away from that path of destruction that I always see in my dreams.
