Chapter 16 - Poem. Beauty Lost

Your splendor the radiant sun to the shadow of earth.

Your smile dulled neither by time nor space.

Your eyes aglitter with whims fleeting and thoughts of uncountable number.

The crease of your smiling cheeks brings my heart to a roaring flame.

Your image in my mind calls with the voice of eternal beauty.

None can compare to your flawless grace, for all attempts fall short before they begin.

Your unmatched countenance and intelligence bring peace and ruin riding your every breath.

Scathing wit intertwined with scantly failing wisdom caused quite a stir.

You knew when to speak and when to listen, vastly exceed my own shortcomings.

You, my dear, were a darling of light and of shadow. Ever present as the whispers of my mind, yet fleeting as the red tips of roses.

My very soul cries out for even a glance of that mirthful light from your eyes. Yet I look now and see no being behind those celestial orbs.

Your stillness splits my heart and bring my eyes to tears.

When shall we meet again, my desire? Beyond, is there another life? Another adventure to discover? A new story to live out together? What lies across this crevasse, this chasm, this abyss? I squint, peering through the darkness yet still I fail to glimpse your sunshine.

My light has been stolen away.

Beauty lost.
