My ears rang as soon as I heard that, and my thoughts were all over the place.
"Seriously?!" I yelled out without realizing.
"Miyuki…" I said as tears began to form.
"Does Yosh-"
"Congrats Miyuki! That's awesome! Wow, this is great" I gently grabbed Miyuki by the shoulder, expressing my joy.
"…"
"…"
Both of the girls just stared at me in confusion.
I knew it, Yoshito was always the one that belonged with Miyuki, they're the perfect match.
"I'm really happy for you Miyuki, you're gonna be a great mom."
"Yasuhito? Hold on…" Miyuki backed away from me, looking a little frightened.
"I'm…not sure what to..do." Miyuki appeared anxious.
I sat back down on the couch.
"Yoshito and I have talked about it, we're still in school, and on top of that, he doesn't have a job. I really want the baby, but…" Miyuki avoided eye contact as she continued.
"What do you mean? You're pregnant Miyuki! Yoshito will figure out the job situation eventually." I returned with excitement.
"Calm down, Yasuhito!" Eri yelled at me.
"It's true that it's good news, when I found out, I was extremely happy, but I don't want to make Yoshito worry." She said in a shaky voice.
"You don't have to worry about all of that, I'll save up money and help you guys out. And in the meantime, Yoshito can try to look for a job." I clasped my hands as I suggested this idea.
"Yoshito said that he doesn't feel ready for this.." Miyuki replied, sounding defeated.
"What?!" Eri and I exclaim in surprise.
After a bit of discussing the issue, I decided to head towards Yoshito's apartment in a sprint.
I then kept on repeatedly knocking on the door as soon as I got there.
"Yoshito! Open up!" I yelled out.
My mind is all over the place, to the point of not thinking about the others in the complex.
"What the hell man, what's wrong?" The door slightly opened, and Yoshito peered out, looking exhausted as well.
"Yoshito! Thank you!" I hugged him as soon as he fully opened the door.
"Huh? What for?" He tried to free himself, but failed.
"You're going to be a father! Miyuki's pregnant thanks to you!" I let go of him and saw that he had an expression of guilt.
"Calm down…Yasuhito." He rubbed his face, letting out a sigh.
"I see that she told you…I'm sorry…I'm not ready to be a father, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to take care of the kid, not without a job." He let out another sigh.
"It's fine, really, you'll find one eventually. For now, I'll be working to support you guys, so you don't have to worry about the finances." I began to flail my arms around, trying to contain my excitement.
"…" Yoshito started to walk away.
What's he feeling? Guilt? Disappointment? Frustration?
"Wait! Please!" I grabbed him by the arm.
"Let go!" Yoshito immediately pulled his arm away.
Now I'm inside his apartment.
"Yoshito! You can't just give up like that."
"Miyuki and I are still students! That makes it difficult enough!" He looked at me with anger.
"We'll all graduate by the time the baby's born."
"That isn't the entire issue." He rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"She wants the baby! Let her have it." I gave him a serious glare.
Yes, that's what she wanted, what she has always wanted.
"Yasuhito!" Miyuki, alongside Eri, suddenly yelled out from the opened door of the apartment.
"Miyuki?! Did you guys run here? You shouldn't be running around like that, it's not safe." I immediately walked towards her and Eri.
"Shut up already!" Yoshito's eyes, now filled with anger, clenched his fists.
"Stop acting like this is any of your business! I'm sure it's nice to say how adorable kids are and how great it'd be to have one, but this isn't a fantasy, it's real life." He raised his voice, sounding very frustrated.
"No…that's not…" I looked at Yoshito, appalled.
"Miyuki and I have already talked about this, I'm not prepared for this type of responsibility, maybe it's best we…separate." He said, with hesitation.
"I don't believe that you'd automatically just give up, that's not something you'd do, and you tried to convince her that this is the right thing?" I now looked at him, disgusted.
"Whatever…we already decided and that's that." Yoshito looked back at me, upset.
He's right, it's none of my business, I shouldn't have to worry about what happens between them from now on.
I've countlessly told myself that Yoshito and Miyuki deserve to be with each other, that he'll make her the happiest she's ever been.
I wish I told Miyuki that we still could've been happy without children mc but I never did, why didn't I? Was I too much of a coward? Maybe.
As I stared at Yoshito, saying nothing, my mind was filled with anger, and I ended up punching him.
"Ah!" Miyuki and Eri yelled out.
"Hey! What the hell was that for?" Yoshito held his cheek, and approached me quickly, punching me in the process.
"Gaaahhh!" I howled, filled with emotion, tackling him to the ground.
He must've been caught off guard since he didn't do much afterwards, I then punched him around two or three times.
"You can't just give up on being a parent, I'm sure this means a lot to you, and to Miyuki! That alone should be enough to stop you from doing anything ridiculous!" I yelled at Yoshito, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.
"…" Yoshito only had a blank stare.
"Stop!" Miyuki pulled me off of him and got in between him and I, staring at me with teary eyes, maybe even filled with anger.
This is the first time Miyuki has ever glared at me like that. I don't blame her at all, she has every right to do that.
"Yoshito…I'm..I'm sorry…I really want us to stay together, I know you said you're not prepared…but I'm sure you can figure out something." Miyuki softly spoke.
"Miyuki.." Yoshito glared at Miyuki, with sadness
"I'm sorry Miyuki…I was being selfish, I should've thought more about what you wanted, instead I decided to run away like some coward." Yoshito slowly got up in a sitting position.
"I only thought about myself, being too focused on why I couldn't find a job, jeez, I really am a loser." Yoshito slowly placed his hands on his face, covering it.
Now that the adrenaline ran out, pain ran throughout my face.
"Let's talk about this again, this time, let's have a much longer conversation, I won't run away." He continued.
"Mhm…I'd really love that, thank you, Yoshito." Miyuki and Yoshito tightly embraced each other.
"Come, let's go, Yasuhito." Eri grabbed me by the hand, and we quietly left.
