Chapter 8 - Impregnable Veil

on the grand square of Npunga strong hold, the charged air invoked an ethereal presence in the environs, the chief priestess sense it and dance in exuberance, whirling and spinning wildly in a frenzy.

Abruptly she went into a trance and stood like a statue for a little while, suddenly she tilts her head up gazing into the grey sky, raising both hands above her head as though to touch the thick dark clouds, and she spoke thus;

"subtler are the ways of the higher one; long have I waited with the four sleeping sages amidst these savages in their madness.

But even among savages were once prominent people, a people devoid of their four senses representation of the sleeping four sages, I divine no mazes.

That is for a child who appreciate no graces, am I not among the chosen? Am I not among the few overflowing with the milk from the mother that nourishes and flourishes all growth.

Am I not then grateful when my growth froze in a time capsule?. So I relate the prophecy as it was written before my very eyes.

It's my soul not longing to be free of this misery? weight of gravity upon my wiry shoulders.

let me not bear this burden no more, this day shall we cross over the bridge, this day shall we beheld the fairer one who shall mount the throne of Cygon.

Here comes the fairer one whose face had been smeared with the milk of the white crown stain in blood, a symbol of treacherous days ahead but the queen is chosen for the king beside her that shall rule.

Ah! I can see the blood, more blood pouring from the sky, red ink for the brush of the surrealists who shall paint on the walls of the Yellowstone.

Ah! This is not my fight anymore. The chosen is strong to keep up the fight, the chosen is strong to keep up the fight."

The old priestess keeps repeating the final phrase,

and dance along frantically in the center of Npunga clan main settlement;

tribes' men and women filled the whole space, a whole bunch of them on top of trees and rocks, some crawling out of underground caves.

Those on the high altitude could hear the drumming feet and warrior chants of the approaching Npunga soldiers, in harmony did they chant, heading towards the grand square were no meeting have been held for a long while.

the priestess continued;

"can you hear it? aye! The cry of the awaken ones who have witness the crowning of the queen with the smear of the milk of the white crown stain in blood? aye! Do you feel it?

do you feel the awakening of the four senses? Now, not only are they having eyes that could observe rather than see, ears that could listen rather than hear, tongues that could taste the tasteless,

nor noses that smell the absence of the gaia; now, oh yee! forlorn ones of a once noble kingdom, imbibe the fifth in thou body when you have all four" she paused and continued;

"no not all of you shall be honored with this grace; only those who saw the blood sacrifice before the eyes of she who must rule, shall be awaken enough to infect all yee savages"

the priestess lough aloud and clapped like a happy child, shaking her white dreadlocks wildly as the warriors flied into filled the open space.

Jhanka looked around till his eyes settled on the old priestess, and a warmth of kingship emanates from the woman. he could feel an influx of confusing flow of mix feelings of loss and reunion, happiness and sorrow, and so much pain and misery….

The grey hair of the woman sharply contrasts with her youthful buoyance.

likewise, the priestess looked at the tall strong warrior standing a few distance away from her, she is certain she knows the man from somewhere but, where exactly?

like he has always been there with her since the very beginning, like her grandfather, like a father, like a husband, like a son, like a brother, like a friend. She didn't know which, why is this one thing she yearns to know eludes her so?

"for knowing is the trick of a mind who knows nothings, what is felt is profound, the inexpressible is supreme. Oh! mother I see you from the beginning to the end and beyond, your warmth engulfs me as we speak.

, am I then not Intoxicated in the eminence of thou very essence oh! Mother?" Jhanka speaks as he approaches the priestess, bowing before her in respect.

In tears the priestess started to speak thus; "oh my dearest friend from a distant past; blessed is the day thou mother gave birth to thee, and blessed even is thou mother who shared her blood to bring thee forth into this vain world where thou path lays deep. thou way even grandeur.

I know thine but can't remember where, but thou pain and joy is mine to bare, Blessed is this day, oh my dear, blessed is this day for our reunion" she said gravely, placing her right hand on top of Jhankas head and closed her eyes for a while as more tears stream down her chicks.

She was trying very hard to penetrate the invisible veil between her and the familiar stranger but she couldn't as blood ooze out form her nostrils.

Jhanka saw the blood dripping on the white sand ground and he looked up. The tears were coming in rivers now from her closed eyes seeping further down to join the blood spewing from her nose.

Instinctively, Jhanka tear a part of his long gown at the base, using it to wipe the blood causing the woman to open her eyes as they locked gazes. They embraced and cried softly in unison.
