The whole room was drop dead silence leaving the space with only the sounds of the air conditioning blast. Although it was still early of the summer, the heat makes ones sweat a bucket.
Clearing his throat slightly, the father decided to intercept the silence atmosphere. It was one of the longest awkward moments he encounter his whole life.
"Ivy, let me introduce you to your brother, Isaac. He is the son of the one who help us when you were a baby. She help feed you when you were sick and nurse you to health. Do you still remember that we used to say that you can't drink your mom's milk when you were born and you can't drink any baby formula? Or perhaps, you remember any of the story about it?"
"No. I won't recognize him as my brother. My only brother is Jason. For me, he is just one of the stranger out there that I encounter. So, my answer is no. He isn't. Hmpf."
"Ivy, stop with that disrespect attitude. Behave nicely. He came here with a good intention."
Pouting her lips, Ivelyn just shut her mouth from making any comeback to her parents nagged.
"Mom, dad, just let her be. I can handle that much of protest from her." Thinking thoroughly, Isaac have not many choice to make everything clear for Ivy but all the truth and facts. However, he can see that he will have a hard time with Ivy keep ignore him all the time and find various excuses to avoid him.
Before that he need to make sure that the parents are not around. That way they both can make deals with benefits for the both of them. There will no interruption and he can see the loopholes of each demands better if there is only a few people around.
"Hey... they are my parents. Not yours. Watch your mouth. Find your own." Snapping Ivy full with jealousy. She sit up straight from the backrest of the couch and furrow her eyebrows showing disagreement with the name being used by the man she don't want to acknowledge.
She would never allow outsiders call her parents theirs. After all everyone have their own. So be filial to your own then. Why want more than you need?
Hearing their daughter response make the couple can't believe that she will be that much of obsessive and defensive their daughter is. None of them have such traits in them. All they can do is shock their head again.
"Oh yeah. That unfortunate for you then. I called them mom and dad even before you get to say your first words and they both are the one let me call them as such." Isaac, too, respond with immature act. He want to provoke Ivy to talk more with him.
"Urghh... you are so annoying. Why don't you leave me alone. I don't want to talk to you anymore." When Ivy about to move from her seat, Isaac in a speed of light make a move and stop her. He push her back to the single couch that she just about to lift her butt from.
"Mom, dad. I think I need to talk to her alone for now. Can you guys leave both of us first? Let me make her understand the situation that we are actually had."
Nodded their head, the couple leave the children themselves. They leave the living room and head to their room upstairs. After all this years, there is no one that can change Ivy's mind when she already set hers, so, they decided to let Isaac give a try.
When there is only the two of them in the living room, both of them stay on their own seat silently. It was a pin drop silent in the room, again. The situation become awkward if none of them did not utter anything sooner.
Taking up the courage, the young man starts to talk.
"So, since this is our official meet let me introduce myself first and yours turn after. Is that a deal?" with a bored face Ivelyn just face the man lazily. She had no intention to say or do anything with the shameless man.
"Anyway, my name is Isaac Wang, 27 years old, in which if not mistaken 10 years older than you. I think you can search about me on the internet. My name and face are all over the internet anyway. As you can see I am handsome and rich. People fall even at the first sight when their eyes lay on me." The man introduce himself in a joking manner.
He put up a layback and chill upfront just to attract Ivelyn's attention on him. He planned to make her believe in him and accept their relationship. After all, what choice did he have, right? For now, he need to find a way to bind their relationship.
"I have no intention to know who you are or your background. In my eyes, you are one of those trivial things that I can ignore all my life. It will never effect my life at all. So, go back to where you came from."
Lifting the corner of his mouth a little, the man want retort Ivelyn's replied like it did not give effect on him. He really want to see how far the girl can go to annoy him again and make him erupt like a volcano.
Usually, his patience meter was at the lowest point and hardly reach the middle of it. He hardly burst out of anger where ever he go, but once it is crossed, everyone will get near him will get a taste.
After all he grew up in a competitive surrounding with people have a sharp words thrown at him every once in a while. And now, ever since he take over his family legacy and make them the powerful household almost worldwide makes nobody dare to do such things to him anymore.
He already reach to a new high place which weak and incompatible could never achieve. His position at the moment cannot be replace by anybody. And it will never easy to push him out of his current seat.
"You can say anything to annoy me but I will not bent to your demand without any benefits on my side. So, I want you to hear this before you judge. After all you have to leave with me sooner. I will explain everything to your understanding as long as you give cooperation with me. Else... I will stay here and annoyed you all day long for as long as I available. What do you say? Do we have a deal?"
Raising one of her eyebrow, Ivy face Isaac as a sign he can do all he want. She will not complied with him.
Sighing internally, Isaac just proceed with his story and finish them all in no more than thirty minutes. He want to explain further, but seeing that Ivy does not seem interested he cut most of his main point.
When he finish, Ivy, lean forward and support her chin on her right hand and lazily asked one of the question she had been itching to say.
"Are you done? Is there more you want to say?" seeing the facial expression of the man in front of her, Ivy assume that he have nothing more to say. "If there is no more. Now, I guess it is my turn, so listen to me. Listen very carefully. I, this girl over here, will 'NOT' leave this house. That is definite. So, you should leave me alone. I don't want to see you again." Pointing towards herself and emphasize the 'not' word.
"I am sorry to tell you this, but I can't do that. I promised my parents that I will take you to see them as soon as I found you. To put it simply, you will leave here with me when I am done with my work."
"Oh. Really? Try me. I bet you, I will never leave here with you. Now, go. Go away. The further, the better. Let me have my peace and quiet life." Ivy grumpily said with her back already facing Isaac.
Ivy stand up from her seat forgetting her favourite cookies and strawberry milk that she had been craving at school. She want to leave the room as soon as possible and not having another banter with the child like man there.
She hate to admit that she did felt grateful for the woman who save her. But, her pride and ego keep on telling her that she can payback when she grown up and not now. For now, she should live her life just as she had planned.
Leaving the living room, Ivy walk to her bedroom and close the door with a loud 'bang'. She felt upset but did not understand what reason. All she know at the moment is that she want to be alone for as long as she want. Perhaps until the guilty in her deepest heart ease.
Plopping on the bed, she cover her face with the huge fluffy teddy bear she had. She stay at the position until she felt stuffy. Even then, she move only her face towards the window of her bedroom and stare into the space for a long time until she unconsciously fall asleep.
