Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Expansion of first contact.

Tony Emerson PoV.

After picking my spot and spawning in, I set to work on my floor. I've got so much experience playing these types of games plus the lite novels I've read on it, I'm sure this whole situation was made just for me. I must be like those protagonists I've read about til now.

Only this time, it's my time to shine!

Checking out my inventory for my starter pack I use the environmental floor so I can get free expansion of the floor and have more ground to work with, so instead of the barely breathable hole in the ground that I started off with, I now have a whopping 2 kilometres squared floor filled with trees of all shapes and sizes. The floor pack also has a small pond and giant tree that are key locations in the floor I set the tree in the centre of the floor and place the pond behind the tree, while I'm at it I also place the Goblin spawner a few metres away from the tree and Pond.

Now that I have all that's set up in just a few minutes, it's time to summon out some goblins. I am not really sure how many to go with at the moment, so I just summon 10. the goblins come out of the spawner wearing only a loin cloth but that's all right, I just need to get them on making some weapons which won't be all that difficult considering the forest environment round them.

Looking back at my inventory there's just one thing left inside. And that's my Strangler vine trap design. Not wasting anymore time I select it and plant a few around the area with most of them scattered around the big tree, this costs me 140 mana but traps are an essential part of dungeons.

Check through the tabs I come across the shop and find lots of good stuff in there.

The shop tab section has its own tab system.

After taking a quick peek through the tabs, I purchased a flint stone resource node and spawn it on the back wall, sending 4 of my goblins off to gather some so they can start crafting weapons, I also pick out two herb spawners that have healing properties and a rabbit spawn for sustenance. all in all its a good start for the amount of mana it cost. I still have enough mana to summon 5 more goblins so i get them out too.

I laughed my ass off when I saw a beginners guide book in the general tab of the shop for 300 mana. 'haha, what dumbass would waste mana on that at the start of their dungeons development?'

The Magic tab was interesting, there were spell's to enhance (Atk,Def,Spd,Etc.) our mobs and others to curse enemies. There were even spell's to manipulate the weak minded into making costly mistakes or enhancing some of their more negative values to take the lead in their decision making.

Then there are the more straightforward spell's like a lightening storm that could be summon in a entire floor, to a mass rise undead that bring back all the dead mobs on the floor and turn them into undead, or a shield spell that could block one hit for a mob so they get that crucial hit in. Honestly some of the spell were really dirty and even I'd feel like an ass for using them.

But then there were the skills... gods... the passive skills like immorality, Slothful, Greed, Fear, Pride, Arrogance, could turn a party into a nervous wreck. especially if they don't bring a priest or paladin that had holy skills to offset them.

Or the active skills like Insight and control. the first being something akin to inspect status and the latter being the ability to control one or our mobs.

It took some time but the goblins I sent to the back of the dungeon were able to get some Flint shards that they could use to sharpen a few longer sticks that had been found around on the forests floor. the only thing was, I was getting bored just watching these goblins so I ordered 6 of them to go out and explore around the dungeons entrance,

The goblins acknowledged my order with lite chuckles and gibberish mutterings before leaving the dungeon with the trusty clubs (just short slightly heavy branches.) they had managed to find.

Hopefully they would be able to capture some monsters from the outside, and I could find out if they can be tamed or activate a spawner. Maybe they can gather some herbs to see if we can introduce them into the dungeon while they're at it.

As the goblins left the entrance way of the dungeon, I ordered them to stick close and Scout the general area before expanding their search radius. Unluckily for me there wasn't much of anything apart from the few cypress trees and non descript bushes. That meant I had to order them to continue searching outwards, and while doing so would increase the risk, I was hopeful that I could find something beneficial.

And I did or atleast I thought I had, but that was when everything started to go down hill.

My goblins met with a small group of 4 scorpions a good 40 metres out from my dungeon, both groups seemed excited at the prospect of a battle and rushed to engage each other.

One with teeth and fist and club.

While the other attacked with razor sharp pincers, had chitin as hard as rocks and poisonous barbed tails that could send jets of venom into the goblins bodies with ever strike.

I try to give the order to capture one of the scorpions but as the first goblin steps forward to attempt to accomplish the order, it is quickly singled out by the 4 scorpions and receives multiple stabs on its legs from their stingers.

The goblins knees buckle and it screams in pain as it falls to the the ground. However, the scorpions do not seen satisfied with have only one victim and use the goblin as a spring board to lounch themselves at the nearest targets.

1 of the scorpions was hit mid-jump and is knocked to the ground by the offending goblins club, its legs receiving a great deal of damage and basically crippling it and preventing it from moving, thus making the battle a 5 on 3 fight.

3 of the scorpions succeed however, managing to land higher up on my goblins bodies peppering them with bites, stings and using their sharp pincers to rip the skin and flesh off their torsos before being dislodged with the help of their companions.

It is at this time that I received a notification prompt from my system.

[Ding! Your Goblin has been killed by 'Scorpion'.]

[Ding! system detected your 'Goblin' has been killed by the mobs of an opposing dungeon, caution advised.]

'Do I retreat?'

Looking at my 3 seriously wounded goblins I discard the notion, I can pull the 2 uninjured goblins back but those 3 will die... damn poison.

Having something like that this early in the game is a cheat man.

Time waits for no man and neither does the battle. Though I am indecisive I have to quickly make a decision, ordering my two uninjured goblins back to my dungeon entrance in a strategic retreat just in time to see 4 more scorpions approach from the east with another 4 behind them I sweat drop.

my last 3 goblins are whaling on the crippled scorpion as I atleast want to take one of them down with my 4 dead and dying mobs, but I'll be damned if they aren't the most tankiest little things.

Just as they are about to get the last few hits in on the scorpion they are attacked from behind with the first 3 scorpions jumping and climbing on the back of my goblins before their stingers struck out and embedded in the backs of my goblins.

I quickly get another notification that 3 more goblins have die but I'm pulling back while calling the closest goblins in my dungeon towards the entrance so I've not time to entertain such system prompts.

Not even 3 minutes after my 2 surviving goblins make it home and meet up with a goblin that was foraging close by I am hit with a fresh notification from the the system that leaves me baffled.

[Ding! Hostile Dungeon forces have invaded your dungeon, Protect your core host.]

'How?... what about my safety period! what the hells going on!!!'

Ding!

[System recommends purchasing the beginners guide book from shop host!]

'This system... is it... laughing at me??'

3 more chimes rang out as the goblins I had guarding the dungeon entrance were killed before I even saw what happened, but as looked at the scorpion assault force I gasped in shock, 17! there were 17 of them.

I only had 8 mobs left after the loss of the first battle outside and those 3 just now. I also have no mana left!

Another thing that left me speechless was that they were running directly towards my core! how could they know where it was?!?!

'I can't let them take my core out of the dungeon so a final stand at the entrance is going to be my best chance!' I ordered my goblins to gather at the entrance telling them to stop the enemies from leaving with my core and as the 16 scorpions return with my core in toe I notice one is missing, checking my reports I see that one of my traps managed to kill one. I regret so much right now as I watch the 16 scorpions rush forward and 4 of my goblins get antsy and end charge to meet the incoming wave of scorpions only to be run over and stung mercilessly while still moving. they do the exact same to the other 4 goblins not slowing down in the slightest.

As my core leaves the dungeon my thoughts slowed and I feel drowsy, it is getting harder to process things around me...

A few minutes pass

I feel panic and fear...

I'm unsure what's happening now....

Then I feel pain as a suction force appears around me. it hurts so much! gods make it stop!

I let out a final cry of agony as I feel my soul being ripped and shredded off bit by bit.

Than everything is gone and I die.

A/N: First conflict from the Losers pov

maybe unnecessary but wanted to show afew thing like when a core leaves its dungeon they basically become useless. there is something that will also be shown later as the native populace capture cores... and I felt that from mc pov the battle was just a system heavy mess so I wanted to show some actual combat (I need practice write combat scenes.)

Anyway thanks for reading!
