Chapter 34 - Chapter 31

I woke up the following morning, alone. After Tobit gave me such beautiful words the night prior, he suddenly acted strange. He of course told me to stay away from Matias and right after the movie we watched finished, he suddenly had to leave, that after he came back from a phone call. He hardly gave me a kiss and for some reason, it did feel like something was wrong.

I checked my phone for his good morning text and for the first time ever, I had a blank inbox. No good morning message, email or even a phone call, hell he was last seen online 7 hours ago.

I did check the time and saw that it was only 8:45 am, so for some reason Tobit was up pretty late after he left my house at 10 pm. He told me he went home, so maybe that was were he went and maybe he was just busy marking the tests.

I got up from bed and decided to type him a message myself. He didn't read it, but in the meantime, I got up and headed to take a shower. I even came back to check and see if he read my message, which he didn't.

I then went to get dressed and when I came back, I saw the green dot next to his name appear, only for it to suddenly disappear. Surely he must've seen that I sent him a message and if that was the case, why wouldn't he open and read it at least?

We have been through this. He didn't like it if I ignored his messages, so I at least expected the same respect from him. I didn't try to get all upset about it, but at the same time it was hard to believe that anything was okay. Maybe he was mad about Matias finding out about us, maybe he no longer wanted to see me.

This had my head spinning all morning. Even while I was munching on a bowl of cereal, I kept waiting and waiting for a reply. And then finally a bluetick appeared next to my message.

I sighed in relief and immediately put my phone down, facing down. I didn't want to make myself seem crazy or obsessed, especially after how long I waited for him to see my message.

I did wait for my notification sound, but nothing came. No sound or anything.

I needed a quick distraction because time started to move really slow, so I made myself a coffee and stood next to the counter, stirring a spoon through my cup. I looked at my phone again and flipped it right side up again to see if he was typing a reply, only for me to get disappointed. He read my message, but he didn't reply.

Clearly something was wrong and he wasn't telling me, because he was avoiding me. The man was fucking ghosting me. I wish it was clear to me from the start!

So I got up and got myself ready. I called a cab over to my house and then I took a ride over to the lakehouse.
