Chapter 24 - Chapter 21

It's Monday morning and now it's back to square one. Only this particular Monday morning things are different and I feel different. Everything suddenly feels a lot lighter, I feel happier even. I had a great weekend with Tobit.

I get up from bed and go for a shower first. Only to come back to find a text sent from Tobit.

Him: Good morning Princess. Hope you're having a wonderful morning as I am. I can't wait to see you today.

I smile to myself and immediately tap the reply button. And after sending a reply of my own to his message, I sit down on the bed and get my hair done. I then get dressed and make sure all the stuff I'll need for class are ready and packed in my back too before I go to campus.

Today I decide to walk on my way there. More so because I want to spend as much time thinking about him and our weekend as possible and I also want to text him along the way. I won't get late and even if I do get late, he's going to punish me and I can never say no to that.

But that also isn't just it. Tobit's been really good to me and now I am spending the entire time thinking of a way to repay him too. A way to show him that I really appreciate how he spoilt me the passing weekend and I might already have something in mind.

Eventually I reach the campus and head inside. Only to come across Matias, who came walking out the science wing of the building, same area I'm walking to. I see him talking with Professor Hugo, and when Professor Hugo looks at me too, I immediately turn my face the other way.

I'm about to freak out, worried that he might've told Matias about us. Or maybe he didn't. I still find it oddly suspicious that Matias is talking to a mathematics professor. Matias hates maths.

"Hey, Bonnie!" I hea Matias and of course I forgot that he'd see me too.

I halt and slowly look at him, avoiding eye contact with professor Hugo, who only came out looking like he was walking Matias out and then heading back into the building. Once he is finally out of the picture, I finally relax.

"Hey, Matty." I then smile at him. I can't believe I still remember what I used to call him. I've been calling him that since we were little. Also judging by the way he's behaving, I can tell that Hugo didn't tell Matias what happened and clearly my paranoia got the best of me. Although, I can't help but wonder why he was with Professor Hugo just now. "So, you're a fan of maths now, huh?"

Matias stands next to me with folded arms. Looking back and then shaking his head and nervously rubbing the back of his neck as if I just caught him doing something he wasn't supposed to. "Well...I started taking math classes for this semester."

"You did?" I can't hide how shocked I am actually. "But you hate maths."

"So, I thought. I lost a bet and got forced to spend one hour in Professor Hugo's class. The professor chose to make the most of it and helped me learn about the basics of math and here I am, one of his top students."

I can't believe what I am hearing right now, while at the same time I feel happy for him. He is learning something new about himself. Seeing Matias move on with his life and trying new things would truly make me happy for him.

"You'll love it!" I assure him, rolling on my heels. "And this time you and I can place a bet. We see how scores the highest points this semester and the one who wins, gets to decide what movie to watch on movie night!"

"Movie night?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Yea." I shrug. "We're friends now, might aswell do fun things together like the good old days."

"Then you have a bet." He grins.

I check the time and see that it's almost time for me to go. "I have to go..." I look at him.

"Oh...Uh, what do you say about some coffee later?"

Coffee later? But I normally spend time with Tobit later and he even made more room on his schedule to have me with him for the rest of the day. Surely it won't do any harm if I have coffee with Matias this one time and I'm sure Tobit wouldn't mind.

"I'll see you at the cafeteria in an hour." I then tell Matias and I walk inside.

"Cool! Seeya later Bonnie."

I smile to myself and hold the straps of my backpack. If I want to keep this secret between me and Tobit, then I have to act normal. Matias knows me for long enough, to figure out something is up on his own and I don't want that. I may have been selfish for hurting him, but I want to be his friend again and I want to start on a clean page him with.

Matias is the brother I wished I always had.

I check the time and see that I am still twenty minutes early. And when I do reach the door of his room, I find it still closed. I then touch the doorknob and twist it, before slowly pushing the door open. I then peek inside.

To my surprise, and my luck, there's no sign of Tobit. He's either late or he's in his office or somewhere making hard copies. Not that I care, I have to go ahead with my plan of action now and I can't wait to see the look on his face once he sees what I've done.

So I walk to his desk and the first thing I do is get under it. I wait and I wait. I hear the door open and I hear his footsteps.
