Tobit saw me get in the car with Matias. Which didn't make sense to me because he was supposed to still have a class after I left, but clearly the man saw me. And the first thing he did was email me and ask me who Matias was. Out of all the things my professor could email me, he chose to send me that.
I wasn't nervous to give him a reply. I had a nice grin plastered on my face, thinking of all the possibilities and reasons for him to send me such a message.
There was a chance that Tobit saw me with another guy, and he got the wrong idea. He became jealous, and then the first thing he thought of doing was asking me who that boy was. The fact that he called Matias a boy, said it all. That was Tobit making a clear implication, that he was above Matias. He saw himself as a man and Matias was just beneath him. Men had their egos after all. I learned that while I was dating a football player.
I was busy creating these crazy scenarios in my head, and I wanted them all to be true. Furthermore, I wanted my Professor to want me that much that he wouldn't want anyone else to have me the way he did.
He did after all say that I was he, so I reckoned that he didn't speak casually when he said that to me. He was serious and probably meant every bit of it. I had to test that out, and it excited me to wonder how angry I could make him. I wanted some fun and I wanted trouble. Not only that, but I was going to mess around with him a little.
So instead of answering his email, I logged out of Gmail, and then I pressed the power button, to turn off my laptop.
~~~
The next morning I got to class. I didn't turn on my laptop since I turned off yesterday, and I also didn't check any of my emails on my phone. I was stupid enough to blatantly ignore my Professor, and I didn't even consider all the possible consequences.
Maybe I was also testing him.
I was, again, the first to arrive at the auditorium. First thing I did was to knock on the door. He was seated right behind his desk and I expected him to have a scowl or angry look on his face when he saw me, instead, he smiled at me.
"Bonnie. Wonderful to see you this morning. Come on in." He said.
He was being nice. That was not what I expected, and I even thought that he didn't care about me ignoring him. Maybe it didn't matter much to him who Matias was, as I thought it did. Perhaps he wasn't jealous.
I didn't show the disappointment I felt At that moment. I headed straight to my desk and got myself seated. I was wearing jeans that day, my way of testing to see how he'd react and attempt to remove them. But it didn't matter much to me anymore. He only told me I was his because of the heat at the moment.
I got myself comfortably seated behind my desk. I unpacked my backpack and had everything taken out and arranged on the desk, and then we waited for the rest of the class to arrive. The room getting filled pretty quickly, and then Tobit began with today's topic.
Throughout the entire period I watched him. I watched his body language and the way he kept looking at me from time to time. He was being his calm and collected self, and obviously, it was clear that he still couldn't keep his eyes off me, no matter how hard he tried. Something still felt off.
Yesterday, he so urgently sent me a message and asked me who Matias was. That obviously bothered him, but today he was acting all normal. I was missing something, and the more I realized that, the more air realised that there was a chance that this was all an act. Tobit was keeping himself all calm because he was waiting for that one moment to have me alone and all for himself. He was angry, very angry.
"That is all for today. Class is dismissed." He eventually ended the session and pretty soon the auditorium got emptied, "Ms Heathworth, say behind please." After that, a few students glanced at me and I quickly faced down at my book to hide my blush. It was the third time in a row, where I stayed behind in his class. I may have put up the image that I was the perfect A student in class, who wanted good grades, but I was afraid of people were starting to get suspicious.
Luckily, they left soon enough and I took my time packing my stuff. And as soon as I lifted my head, the man was standing right in front of me.
"You stay right there." He said.
