Chapter 27 - [2.5] Training Part 2

In the previous story, they had managed to identify their powers, but not Radit. His powers were unknown because the device was broken, or perhaps his powers were too great for the machine to analyze. Now, they will conduct a trial test of their unique powers.

"Sir, is this test equipment, can the general public use it?" Jiyan asked Lampart.

"No, this tool is only owned by the Amarta family, other big people, and the military. So, there's no way ordinary people can use this," Lampart replied.

"So, how do ordinary people know their powers? Especially with the current situation, the government must need a lot of power to ward off the monsters," Jiyan said.

"Calm down. Have you heard and read the news about the union being established?" Bilgard asked.

"Yes," Jiyan replied.

"Well, next week if I'm not mistaken, all the countries will establish a union. I don't really know the rules of the system, but with that, people can take a strength assessment test and participate to defend and fight monsters," Bilgard explained.

"There, now put both your hands here," Luna said, pointing at Raka.

"Uh, I'll go first," said Raka.

Raka entered a booth and after entering, he saw a device in front of him. At first glance at the picture of the guide, he immediately understood and opened both hands, then pressed them against the device.

"Okay, good. Stare at that camera in front of you and wait until I say it's done," Luna said.

"What is he doing?" Jiyan asked Lampart.

"Scanning the body and taking blood samples," Lampart replied.

"Huh? What are body scans for?" asked Steven, who was curious after hearing Jiyan ask. Other people were also listening in on the conversation.

"Well, it's to check whether or not she has unique powers and to be able to determine what kind of uniqueness she has," Lampart replied.

"Will your body shape change if you have unique powers?" asked Jiyan.

"Ah, you misunderstand. What is scanned is not the body shape, but something like an aura," Lampart replied.

"Oh, that sounds cool," Steven said.

"Yeah, right, cool. Not like the ones in the comics," Bilgard says.

"So, when the aura is identified, one's unique power is immediately known?" asked Radit.

"No, unfortunately the technology and knowledge now is not up to that. This test is just to find out if someone has some kind of energy or not," Lampart replied.

"So, why take a blood sample if a scan is enough?" Hana asked.

"What, Hana? Are you afraid of injections?" Amelia teased Hana.

"You're a nag, aren't you," Hana said, pinching both of Amelia's cheeks.

The others laughed at them. After that, when Lampart wanted to explain about the blood sample, Luna said, "It's done, now it can come out," Luna said.

Raka came out of the booth, "Ok, next," Luna said.

"Ah, I'll go first," Britta said as she entered the booth.

"So, do you have any unique powers?" Leonardo asked.

"Of course," said Raka, proudly.

"Then, what is your unique power?" asked Laras.

"Hmmm, don't know. He just said I have a unique power," replied Raka, who was also confused.

"Ah, about that, let me continue to explain again," said Lampart.

"So, that last one was about why you have to take a blood sample, right? So, that's also to find out if the person has unique powers or not," Lampart said.

"Blood also has an aura?" asked Fauzan.

"Hahaha, no, not really," Bilgard replied.

"Are you trying to be funny?" asked Steven.

"So, you see, this test also needs to take blood samples because there are cases where someone does not have an aura, but has other things in their body. The standard or simple example is blood. You know blood has four components in it, namely red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and blood plasma. However, when someone has a unique power, the blood has more than four cells in it. The researchers still don't know what those cells are, but they just call them X cells, and they are harmless," Lampart said.

"Uwah... I'm an alien now," said Raka.

"What happens if that person has other auras and cells in their body?" says Laras.

"This means that the person is likely to have more than one or two unique powers," Lampart says.

"So, Raka, you have an aura?" said Leonardo.

"No," said Raka.

"So you have strange cells in your body," Leonardo said.

"Uwah... Raka, you've really become an alien," said Steven.

"Hem... let it go, it's called being unique, so it's natural for people to be jealous," Raka said, grinning at Steven.

After that, Britta exited the test booth.

"So, Britta, how did it go?" said Gilbert.

"Nothing," Britta said in a low voice.

"Huh, what, I can't hear it," said Gilbert.

"I said nothing," Britta said, her voice a little louder than before. Gilbert was silent.

"It's okay, not having unique powers doesn't mean he's not great," Bilgard said.

"Take a look, over there, the guy wearing the bandana is fighting. He only has one element and no unique power, his opponent is a unique power user with two elements," Bilgard said.

Man 1 = the lightning user

Man 2 = the unique user with fire and water elements.

"Hoi... looks like we're being watched by the boys over there," said man 2.

"Hm... looks like it's time for me to brag to the juniors, get ready to lose," said man 1.

"Hm... in a dream," man 2 said with a grin and attacked.

Man 2 aimed his fire element at Man 1, but he nimbly dodged it while counterattacking with a very fast electric shock to Man 2. However, he managed to avoid it with his unique power, which is to dodge very quickly without the user realizing it.

Man 1 continues to attack while moving, but Man 2 easily avoids it.

"Crazy, what an impossible move that is," said Jiyan. "The person who dodges has a unique power of dodging. His body seems to automatically dodge when there is danger approaching his body," said Bilgard.

Man 1 continued to attack, when Man 2 saw a slight pause in the attack, he immediately counterattacked quickly with fire.

Man 1 was startled and immediately dodged it, then he was immediately surprised with a water attack and was hit.

Not at a loss for words, man 1 immediately approached man 2, and a close-quarters fight ensued.

Man 2 pulls out all the stops to defeat Man 1.

Man 1 seemed to have trouble hitting Man 2 because of his unique dodging ability, but you know that Man 1 didn't realize that he had been trapped by Man 2.

"Isn't it time you gave up, that's how much you want to look cool to the juniors," said man 2, panting.

"Enough fooling around, it's time to beat you with one strike," said man 1. "Huh?" said man 2.

Man 1 approaches Man 2 quickly, Man 2 puts up a defensive stance, but instead of attacking with punches or elements, he just holds Man 2's hand.

"Got you, now you're soaking wet," said man 1 as he grabbed man 2's arm. "Eh?" said man 2 in confusion.

Man 1 then took out an electric shock and immediately shocked man 2, after which man 2 immediately fell to the ground.

"Wow, cool. He won." said Radit. "Crazy, he won." said Steven.

"Look, she won, right?" Bilgard said, looking at Britta. Hearing and seeing that, she looked a little pleased.

"Why did he win?" asked Amelia.

"Look at that man lying there." said Lampart. Others turned their heads.

"Is she wet?" said Raka.

"Yes, he was wet. Because it was wet, it was easily electrocuted. Finally, due to a lack of care, the element that was supposed to protect it, destroyed it instead," Lampart explains.

"Well... he wasn't careful either. Look, she got electrocuted herself because she was wet." Bilgard said.

Inside the battle area. "Hm... look guys, I won." said man 1 proudly. Suddenly someone shouted around the arena.

"Fool! You're also exposed to your own element and you can't move!" shouted the onlookers.

"How come he has the power of electricity and can even hit himself? If the one who was lying down was natural because he didn't have the power of electricity," said Laras.

"Well, basically, the powers we have don't make us immune to the element." said Lampart. "What does that mean?" asked Laras.

"An easy example is Bilgard. He had the power of fire. Now he has a slight immunity to fire, but that doesn't mean he can't get burned. He just has a slightly high burn and heat tolerance." Lampart explained.

Bilgard saw Britta and the others looking confused, seemingly not understanding. "Now, here's a direct example. Raka, since you don't have the fire element, try here and extend your palm. Point the palm downward." Bilgard said. Raka complied.

"Try this little flame, do you feel the warmth?" Bilgard said as he took out a small flame from his forefinger.

"Yes, I feel the warmth of the fire." said Raka.

"Well, try it with this big fire." Bilgard said as he took out a rather large flame from his palm.

"Ouch... it's hot. The heat is burning." Raka said.

"Ah, sorry-sorry. I forgot that you have water powers." Bilgard said.

"Hmm... so what if I have water powers?" asked Raka.

"Well, like Lampart said, because of the power of water, you become weak or sensitive to fire." Bilgard explained.

"Try this Amelia, do it like Raka did earlier." Bilgard said. Amelia opened her palm.

"Well, with this little fire, do you feel warm?" asked Bilgard.

"No, I didn't even feel it at all." Amelia replied.

"Well, try to heat the fire like Raka felt earlier." Bilgard said as he took out the fire.

"Ah, it's warm and it feels good." Amelia said.

"Well, now try Steven who doesn't have the elements of water or fire, only lightning." Bilgard said.

"How does this little fire taste?" asked Bilgard. "Warm." Steven replied.

"Now, the big one." said Bilgard.

"Ouch, it's hot." said Steven.

"Does it feel like it's burning?" asked Bilgard.

"No, it's just hot." Steven replied.

"Well, lastly Gilbert. Feel this little fire." said Bilgard.

"Hm... I don't feel it. Hmm... couldn't it be a little warm?" said Gilbert.

"Now try the big fire. How does it feel?" asked Bilgard as he brought out the big fire.

"Not at all." Gilbert replied spontaneously.

"Really?" asked Bilgard.

"Wait, it's getting hot." said Gilbert. Then, "Ouch, it's hot. It's starting to get hot." said Gilbert.

"Well, that's enough. You're familiar with direct viewing, right?" Bilgard asked.

"I understand. Raka gets hot easily because he has the water element. Amelia doesn't heat up easily because she has the fire element. Then, Steven feels hot like everyone else because he has two opposite elements. And Gilbert feels heat late because he has the earth element, due to its poor heat conductivity." Laras said.

"That's right! You're very smart." Bilgard said.

"But what if he has elements that are opposite to each other, for example he has fire and water?" asked Radit.

"He would be a normal person in general like Steven, but there are cases where he benefits from the element." said Luna who joined the conversation while sitting near the booth.

"How long are you talking? Hurry up and come in, you're wasting time. You can learn about it later through books. Besides, it's like a lower middle school lesson." Luna said somewhat annoyed.

"Hurry up, don't let him get angry." said Lampart.

After some time, the unique ability test checking was completed. The result was that Raka, Laras, Amelia, Hana, Steven, Fauzan, and Gilbert had unique powers, while Jiyan, Britta, and Radit did not.

"Uh, how come? Seriously!" said Luna.

"What's wrong?" asked Lampart.

"This Radit doesn't have any power." Luna said.

"Luna, relax. You forgot, in the previous test the device was broken so you didn't write down the type of element." said Gilbert.

"Oh, yes, I forgot. Sorry, Radit." Luna said.

"What's next?" asked Steven.

"Yes, the next thing is to fight." Bilgard said with a smile.
