Leonardo, as the driver of the first car, was accompanied by Radit, Fauzan, Amelia, Hana, and Gilbert. Meanwhile, Jiyan, Raka, Steven, Britta, and Laras boarded the second car driven by Lucia. They all headed to the city center hospital.
Not long after leaving the site of Leonardo's mansion at the edge of town, at the first intersection, they had already stopped and looked ahead.
"Hm... How do we get to the central hospital, sir?" Lucia asked over the walkie talkie to the first car.
"Well, what do you think, the road is impassable in front of us," Leonardo said over the walkie talkie to the second car.
They all looked at the scene in front of their cars. They saw that the road was covered by the ruins of a tall building and it was impassable. They walked and looked for another intersection, but it was the same as before. There was one intersection that was not covered, but looking further, it was impassable because many cars were abandoned in the middle of the road.
"What if we go this way? I think we can get through since this area doesn't have any tall buildings around it and if any of them are closed, there are still many small paths between the buildings that can be traversed. However, it's 7 kilometers away from here and it will take us a while to get to the hospital," Steven suggested, showing Lucia his laptop that had been converted into a tablet.
Lucia touched and swiped the screen to see her path to the hospital. After that, Lucia pressed the walkie talkie button installed in the car.
"Sir, it looks like Steven found a safe path to take," Lucia informed.
"Okay, fine. Let's follow the instructions," Leonardo said. "Yes, sir," Lucia replied.
"Hey, show me the way," Lucia ordered Steven.
"Okay doki... from here, we just keep going for 5 kilometers," Steven replied.
They began to move slowly, as there were many passers-by and stones scattered around from the collapsed buildings, as well as cars that had been abandoned in the middle of the road.
As they drove along the road on the outskirts of the city, they kept glancing left and right, witnessing the city devastated by the tragedy of the boulder. The vast grasslands surrounding the city emitted enormous smoke. Helicopters carrying water were pacing back and forth from where the thick smoke was coming from.
After walking for quite a distance, about 3 kilometers, they stopped. In front of them was a group of armed military and police personnel in full bulletproof armor. There were also several armored personnel vehicles, police cars and fire engines blocking the road access. They were stopped by the military personnel.
"Excuse me, miss, where are you going?" the military member asked Lucia whose car was in front.
"We want to head to the central hospital," Lucia replied as she turned on the walkie talkie to be heard by the others.
"Oh, you want to go there? But why this route? Can't you go to the central hospital by right here?" the military member asked.
"Yes, we could have, but we were already back there and many of the paths were blocked by collapsed buildings, and it looked dangerous. So, we decided to take the safe route, avoiding tall buildings," Lucia explains.
"There is some truth to that. Passing through high-rise buildings is risky. Okay, you can go through this route, but we need to check your ID first," said the military member. "Yes, fine, no problem," Lucia replied.
Overhearing the conversation over the walkie talkie, the passengers of the first car began to take out their identification cards. Three other military members approached the first car.
"Good morning, can you show me your identity card?" asked one of the military members. "Yes, no problem," Leonardo replied.
They all showed their residence cards to be viewed and scanned for authenticity by the military members.
"Sir, what's going on along this front lane? It looks like it's heavily guarded," said a curious Amelia from inside the car.
"In front of this, along the road for about a kilometer, you will pass an emergency hospital. We're limiting the cars that pass by to keep the noise down and reduce pollution. Your car is a fuel oil type, not electric," said the military member.
"But, sir, is it necessary to scan our identity cards?" said Gilbert from inside the car.
"Yes, we need to, because in the last few hours people have started to get angry and cause trouble because they want to prioritize their wounds and also some have tried to steal medicines," said the military member.
They were all stunned to hear that, as were those in car 2 who heard it through the walkie-talkie.
After finishing checking all the resident cards of Radit and his friends, suddenly all of them there were surprised by the arrival of an off-road car coming from the direction of the grassland and crashing into the front of the armored personnel vehicle covering the lane.
The nearby military members gasped in shock and pointed their weapons at the car, which looked very mangled.
One of the military members approached the driver's door of the vehicle. Before they got very close, the rear door of the car suddenly opened and a man fell out.
The person was dressed as a policeman and was holding a gun in his hand. The person stood up and looked around, then he realized that in front of him was a member of the military and started to stand up, then approached him while running a small distance to the nearest military member.
But before the policeman could run, the military member shouted, "Stop, don't move!" the military member said while pointing his gun at the policeman.
The policeman realized they were on alert and started to calm down. Then he said, "Help us, it's dangerous there. We need help. We are under attack," the policeman said. Because the policeman's explanation was incomplete, the military members were confused.
Then all the car doors opened and three people got out. Two of them looked like civilians and one was a firefighter.
The person in the firefighter's uniform was helped out by the two residents. They all saw that the person dressed as a firefighter had a severe injury to his leg.
"We need help, sir. We were attacked by a pack of prairie wolves," the fireman said. One of the military members, who seemed to be the leader of the troops there, ordered his men to treat their wounds because he saw that they didn't seem to be lying.
As the military member was helping them, suddenly there was a wolf howl from the direction of the meadow. Lucia instinctively knew this place was dangerous and said over the walkie-talkie, "Sir, quick, let's get out of here!" she said as she started to run the car.
Leonardo was not ready to step on the gas, suddenly, several wolves jumped very high and aimed at car 1 which made the windshield cracked. Then the wolves bit the car's tires which caused a flat.
Lucia, who was already walking, immediately stopped.
The wolf head got into the car. Radit was next to Leonardo, holding the wolf head.
"Radit, watch out!" said Leonardo, pointing the gun at the wolf. Radit looked back, realized it and made room to shoot, and "Bang!"
Several shots were also heard in the vicinity of car 1, from members of the military firing at the wolves trying to damage Leonardo's car.
It didn't stop there, the howls became more frequent and wolves began to appear in large numbers. The wolves attacked the people standing there. Gunshots began to be heard everywhere.
"Quick, all of you get off the right side of the car!" Leonardo said, and the others obeyed. Leonardo then pressed a secret button on his car. Instantly, two suitcase-like handles appeared from under the car. Leonardo pulled them and several small folding pistols and SMGs appeared.
"Hurry up and take it! Choose whatever you like." Leonardo said. Radit and the others were a little surprised and thoughtlessly took it. Even the military members beside them were surprised.
In car 2 at Lucia's place, they did the same thing.
"You guys have already handled weapons during your military service, right? Then put that knowledge to use now," Leonardo said.
The wolves blindly attacked the people. The military members aimed the guns on the armored personnel vehicles and fired them at the wolves.
All those in car 1 backed away slowly and approached car 2. They were protected by three military members who checked their identification cards.
They continued to shoot at the wolves that had sprung up. Panicked nearby residents scattered and ran towards the city.
They all managed to gather and they were told by the military members to retreat into the city. However, suddenly one of the wolves approached them and stared, more precisely the wolf stared at Radit. The wolf opened its mouth and released a burst of fire towards Radit.
The burst was blocked by the military member and set him on fire, much to the surprise of the others. Another military member came with a canister of fire extinguisher and sprayed it on his burning friend.
Lucia shot the fire-spewing wolf at the same time. The others stared at the sprawled wolf.
"What's with this wolf," said Raka.
"Hurry up! Quickly kill the wolf that emits electricity!" one of the military members shouted. Radit and the others saw the military member fighting the wolf that was emitting electricity from its body.
Steven looked around, many wolves were emitting electricity and fire and said, "What's going on? Did they mutate or something?" Steven said.
Seeing that things were getting out of hand, Lucia ordered the others to quickly retreat into the city.
They slowly retreated with a few other military members escorting them, while firing at the wolves that had sprung up and were running around while emitting fire and electricity.
However, not long after that, suddenly a huge roar could be heard. The wolves attacking the humans instantly stopped attacking and retreated, and they were all lost in sight among the tall grass.
The military members were still brandishing their weapons out of caution. After a while, a military member's walkie talkie was heard by Radit and his friends. "All is safe, but stay alert," said the voice from the walkie talkie which seemed to be an order from the military leader in this place.
They all finally calmed down, as this strange incident came to an end.
Radit and his friends approached car 1 and gathered there.
"How is this? That car can't be used. Changing the tires at this point seems impossible," Leonardo said.
The leader of the military force who was nearby heard them.
"You said you wanted to go to the central hospital, right? We also want to go to the governor's building, it's close to the hospital. How about going with us?" said the leader.
"Who are you?" said Raka. "Oh, sorry, didn't introduce myself. I'm Leaf Latif, the leader of the military forces here," Leaf said, taking off his helmet and glasses.
They all looked at him, then Leonardo said, "But one of our vehicles is broken," Leonardo said.
"We'll leave the damaged vehicle here for now, and you can take our truck. How about it?" said Leaf.
Leonardo looked at Amelia who looked doubtful. "It's up to you, Leo, if it's dangerous there's no need to insist on meeting my brother today," said Amelia.
Leonardo looked at Amelia's face who looked a little disappointed, then he turned to the others.
Everyone smiled at Leonardo and Raka said, "Just relax. We're all fine," she said.
"Okay, we'll come with you," Leonardo said.
"A wise decision. Okay, we'll get going," Leaf said and walked away from them.
As Leaf was about to walk away from them, Radit called out to her. "Commander, please convey my gratitude to the person who drove the wolf's flame blast towards me earlier," Radit said.
"Hmm... yes, I'll tell him. I'm sure he'll be happy that the person he saved is doing well," Leaf said with a smile.
Radit smiled at that too.
After some time, they began to depart together with military convoys.
Radit, Fauzan, Leonardo, Amelia, Hana, and Gilbert who were in car 1 began to climb onto the truck carrying soldiers. However, Lucia did not want to, because the attack incident had made her wary and had to continue to be near her master, so car 2 was driven by one of the military members and Lucia rode along with the truck with the others.
Now they are heading to the Central Hospital through the safe area that Steven showed Leaf before leaving.
Because Steven was leading the way, he was in a different car from the others. He was at the very front of the convoy. He rode in the armored car together with Commander Leaf.
The convoy consisted of 5 vehicles. At the forefront was an armored car vehicle filled with 4 people, second was an armored personnel tank vehicle filled with 8 people, third was a 2-car filled with Radit's friends and 1 military member with a total of 6 people, fourth was a military truck containing 12 people, and the last was an armored car vehicle containing 4 people.
