Around me, there were buildings destroyed or on fire. There were a lot of people fleeing to places they thought were safe.
There are pieces of broken windows all over the ground, as well as the corpses of people of all ages.
'Why is this happening to us? What did we do to deserve it?'
The question never left my mind as I ran away with a bleeding left hand.
Amid the panic, someone else tripped in front of me, causing me to fall. After the fall, I felt unbearable pain. To relieve the pain, I bit my lips until blood came off.
I picked myself up and continued to run.
In the middle of the road, as I moved along, a loud explosion sounded behind me. I didn't look back so I wouldn't see the horror around me. But that was a mistake. A piece of rock from the building that exploded flew and hit me on the head. As my vision became darker, I couldn't help but think to myself.
Why do we, the people who don't want to participate, always end up as the victims?
'Why is it?'
'Answer me!'
And that was the last thing I thought before I lost consciousness.
Location: City of Izis
In a long corridor, you could hear a person walking.
It was a sixteen-year-old blond man of average height with tan skin and brown eyes who wore formal clothes.
He was very nervous about his situation. I mean why wouldn't he? He was about to make his first introduction in front of the Phoenix Knight, protector of the city of Izis.
At the end of the corridor, you could see a giant door at the end. The door was brown and decorated with golden ornaments, making it look like a castle door. At the side of that door stood two guards wearing armor that looked like it was made of flame.
As he approached the door, the tension he felt kept increasing. Not long after, he found himself in front of the door.
He could hear voices on the other side and the sound of wood clashing against each other.
After the guards opened the door, he couldn't help but close his eyes because of the sun's light. Once he reopened his eyes, he saw four people fighting in two groups. They were surrounded by other Phoenix Knights, who were watching the fight.
The fight was amazing. It was both fluid and chaotic. I was so mesmerized that I didn't notice the end of it.
Eventually, I realized the fight was over. I looked around and saw a red-haired man wearing glasses standing in the middle of the crowd. I understood that he was the instructor.
As I came closer, I said nervously, "Uh... hi."
Hearing that, the red man turned to see who had said it.
Upon turning, he was confused to see an unknown person standing in front of him. It took him only a few seconds to remember that he had received a letter stating that a recruit would be joining them.
Shortly after he smiled, and said "Hello, are you the brand-new recruit that's starting today?".
" Yes, I am"
" Well, you came at the right time. We just finished practice. My name is Felix Vinsburg, the instructor of the Phoenix Knights. But you can call me FELIX. And you are?"
" I am Kariel Nothoria. Nice to meet you." I replied as I shook his hand.
After finishing introducing myself. Mr. Felix asks me to stand beside him as he calls knight for an announcement.
As people began to surround us I could hear them talking and whispering among themselves. It was then that my nervousness from before came back with a vengeance. But that was for nothing. After Mr. Felix introduced me to the others. A girl called Thera, one of the people fighting was asked to guide me for the next two weeks.
She was a brown-eyed, blond-haired girl who put her hair in a ponytail and wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans, combat boots, and a leather chest plate.
As she came closer, I couldn't help but blush at her beauty. It was shortly after that she asked me to follow her. As I followed the girl, I couldn't help but smile at what would soon happen.
