General Kyle's empty sockets locked onto Jai, particularly his bleeding thigh. He had expected the arrow to cause more damage, but the God Sword was evidently tougher than an average soldier. If he hoped to win the God Sword, stronger attacks would be necessary.
Without wasting another moment, General Kyle spread his legs and bent his massive skeletal knees into a bizarre crouch. Leaning forward slightly, he propelled himself toward Jai with incredible force, closing the distance between them in an instant.
Jai, however, was not caught off guard. He clashed with the Death Knight, meeting the skeletal giant's strike with his sabers. A deafening bang echoed across the battlefield as their weapons collided, forcing everyone nearby to flee. Those who had been unlucky enough to stray too close to their bout met swift and brutal ends. Survivors quickly realized their chances of living were better amidst the chaos of the battlefield than anywhere near these three combatants. Yet, even as they escaped, many found themselves at the mercy of General Khan's arrows.
A spectacle of a battle was unfolding before their eyes, but watching it meant becoming collateral damage.
To everyone's surprise—or perhaps not—Jai managed to push the Death Knight back. But before he could catch his breath, General Khan's relentless arrows threatened to riddle him with holes. Frustrated by the archer's interference, Jai decided to eliminate him first.
In a moment, he blinked from his position and he closed the gap between them, preparing to unleash the First Sword technique: Great Slash. The attack was swift and precise, aiming to cut down the General. But just as Jai was about to land the blow, his instincts flared in alarm. A chill ran down his spine as he sensed the cold presence of death behind him.
The Death Knight, having anticipated his move, was already upon him. Jai quickly shifted his focus, redirecting his attack toward the impending threat. Yet, doom loomed from both directions—General Khan had not ceased firing. Even as Jai closed in on him, the General loosed an arrow from close range, aiming straight for Jai's head.
Jai smiled.
"These two are more troublesome than I expected," he muttered.
He knew there was no way to dodge the incoming arrow unscathed, so he let the Death Knight press him harder, creating an opportunity to shift his head out of harm's way. The arrow lodged deep into his right shoulder, the tip protruding from the other side. The arrow had narrowly missed his heart.
Dodging an arrow to the heart only to almost take one through his chest was a close call. Jai knew there would be many more if he took his eyes off either opponent again. Now that he was momentarily safe, he pushed back against the Death Knight, who had been enjoying the fleeting advantage.
The Death Knight swung its sword swiftly, knowing Jai would struggle to block due to his injuries. It was correct. Jai used one saber to parry the attack, but the force jolted his arm violently, nearly causing him to lose his grip. He persevered but was sent flying from the blow.
By now, Jai had learned enough about his opponents to predict General Khan's next move. He immediately took a Third Sword stance: Howling Wind. The technique created a powerful gust, deflecting the incoming arrows. The wind was so powerful, even the death Knight found it difficult to advance.
Without hesitation, Jai followed with the Second Sword technique: Mountain Rend. His target was the ever-annoying General Khan. The General, sensing impending doom, scrambled to dodge the devastating strike. It was as if the very wind itself was being split by Jai's attack.
Though not quick on his feet, General Khan managed to evade. Jai gritted his teeth, frustrated by the miss. His injuries were hindering his attacks. Still, he took a moment to breathe. Cutting the arrowhead protruding from his chest, he pulled the arrow from his back in one swift motion. Pain radiated through him, but he didn't show it.
Quickly picking up his saber, Jai turned just in time to see the Death Knight closing in.
"I wonder how long you can keep that curse of yours," Jai said.
The Death Knight didn't respond. It attacked ferociously, forcing Jai to block despite the numbness creeping into his arm.
"I'm guessing not much longer," Jai taunted, smirking.
Twisting the saber in his right hand, Jai thrust it toward the Death Knight's chest. The skeletal warrior sidestepped, dodging the blow, but Jai wasn't finished. Using his left saber, he aimed for the Knight's head. This, too, was blocked, the Knight raising its shackled wrist to intercept, and blocked the attack with the shackle.
"Smart," Jai muttered, impressed.
The Death Knight had overwhelming strength, and its attacks were relentless. But Jai maintained superiority in speed and agility. His blades moved swiftly, cutting with precision as he pressed to gain the upper hand.
General Kyle roared in frustration. The God Sword's speed and cunning were unmatched, and Jai's apparent enjoyment of the fight only fueled his rage.
A surge of cursed energy erupted from the Death Knight, sending a wave of oppressive power across the battlefield.
Raising his blade, General Kyle unleashed an aura that filled everyone present with dread. For a moment, fear reigned supreme—even Jai wasn't spared.
"Shit," Jai muttered.
Suddenly, the Death Knight attacked again, its blade descending like a colossal guillotine. Jai raised his sabers, using all his strength to block the devastating strike. Another shockwave rippled across the battlefield, shaking the ground and stirring violent winds.
For the first time, Jai struggled to keep up with the Death Knight's might.
At that very moment, Jia's eyes registered a figure just behind the death Knight.
His eyes have been keeping an eye out for the annoying archer for a while but he didn't expect him to pop out where he did. Standing right there on the death Knights shoulder, his arrow only few centimeters from his face.
"Damn you, Khan," Jai thought bitterly.
The General didn't hesitate. He loosed the arrow at point-blank range. Jai sighed in defeat.
"They won. I can't believe they did. Well, it doesn't matter," he muttered. It was no longer time for games.
"Abaddon," he called.
A third arm burst from Jai's shoulder, catching the incoming arrow before it could strike.
