Chapter 4 - Wallflower and the Face of Aerospace

Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for! Alex, the son of the illustrious Principal James, has graced us with his presence! The girls were in a frenzy and surrounded Alex's table during break.

In the meantime, Sarah nonchalantly dug into her bag and pulled out her trusty lunch box, overflowing with Pasta and Salad. Despite popular belief, the Johnson family was far from broke and were actually doing pretty well for themselves.

So why was Sarah's lunch box so limited in options? Let's just say she had a secret side hustle of slipping all the yummy bites into Deliah's lunch box every morning. Yes, every single day. But don't fret, Sarah is a giver, not a glutton!

"Mrs. Johnson always reminded Sarah that she didn't have to constantly sacrifice herself for Deliah, but Sarah couldn't help but want to. She felt like she had to.

Sarah glanced at Alex and saw the girls surrounding him, like they always do for the other members of aerospace. She didn't like it.

Just because someone has a face that's superior to the average person doesn't mean they are special in terms of kindness or talent, and it certainly doesn't say anything about their moral character.

For all Sarah knew, Alex could be the most handsome and charming guy in school, but also a sneaky cheat.

Sarah scrunched up her nose and rolled her eyes. "Seriously don't the girls have better things to do?" she muttered to herself.

But Alex paid no mind to the wallflower in the corner of the room. After all, Sarah was just a wallflower."

Instead of accepting the attention, Alex was battling the numerous advances coming from all angles, including from boys. Some of the boys had a misguided belief that they could become part of the popular group Aerospace by getting on Alex's good side. Although it was a thrilling thought, it was highly improbable.

"Let's go to the cafeteria," Steve suggested. "Before Alex gets surrounded by these girls and we can't even reach him." Brad agreed and led the rest of the Aerospace team out of the classroom. Joe and Henry had to stay by Alex's side to stop the girls from pushing or grabbing at him.

"You really are the face of Aerospace," Philip remarked.

Alex let out a sigh of frustration. "Well, I'm hoping these girls don't keep up this level of excitement forever. If it continues like this, I might have to think about transferring to a new school."

The Aerospace boys arrived at the cafeteria and spotted an empty table in the center, reserved exclusively for the cool kids. Despite the other tables being packed with students, no one dared to sit there.

Sarah's disdain for the Aerospace boys might have been due to this kind of special treatment. She believed that treating someone differently just wasn't right when everyone should be equal.

The Aerospace boys took a seat at their table and pulled out their lunch boxes. They opted for homemade food instead of cafeteria grub, as their adoring fans provided them with delectable lunches.

While the boys ravenously chowed down, Brad was tapping his fingers on the table and scanning the room with impatience.

Alex raised a brow. "Uh, is Brad skipping lunch or something?" he asked, confused.

Joe just shook his head, still focused on his food. "Nah, he's waiting for his girlfriend. It's a regular occurrence, don't sweat it," he mumbled with a full mouth.

Alex chuckled and shook his head. "Whipped."

Brad scowled as he overheard their conversation. "I am NOT- Nancy! I'm here!" he suddenly stood up and waved.

Nancy, a sweet and innocent looking gal, blinked in their direction and her face lit up with a big grin. "Brad!" she beamed as she walked over to their table.

"Hey," Brad smiled warmly and tidied up her hair. "How was math class?"

Nancy made a face of displeasure. "Math? Bleh," she frowned. "Nope, not great." Brad pecked her on the nose and squeezed her cheeks. "But you'll do better in music and biology later," he consoled.

Just as Alex was about to speak, Joe jumped in. "Yup, he knows her entire class schedule by heart. Whipped, I tell ya."

Alex chuckled and wondered if he'd ever be so head-over-heels in love with a girl.

"Alex didn't think it was possible. He couldn't fathom the idea.

Lunch continued with merriment and conversation, and Alex couldn't help but feel a twinge of longing for his cherished friends. How had he ever managed to endure three years abroad?

He offered to clean up the wooden disposable spoons and plastic cups, then headed over to the nearest trash can to dispose of the rubbish. Just as he turned around to go back to the table, he stumbled into a girl who was also walking to the trash.

She tripped and stumbled, but Alex quickly grabbed her wrist to keep her from falling flat. Unfortunately, she collided into his chest instead, and Alex got a whiff of a sweet scent of roses.

"Whoopsie! Sorry!" the girl blushed, looking embarrassed.

"It's all good," Alex nodded. The girl lifted her head to smile at him, and her eyes got big as she recognized him, making her cheeks turn a bright shade of pink.

Well, she knows me. Alex thought, surprised. At least she's cute and doesn't shriek when she sees me. I'll take it.

Alex gave her a small grin and made his way back to the Aerospace boys. To his surprise, they were all giving him suggestive looks and wiggling their eyebrows.

"What?" Alex asked, bewildered.

Henry rolled his eyes. "Oh come on, did this guy really just ask that? That was Deliah Johnson! Don't tell me you're not attracted to her?"

"Who?" Alex glanced back at the girl he bumped into.

She was looking at him with a rosy face, giving him a tiny smile. Out of politeness, Alex returned the smile. "That girl?"

"Yes, that girl," Steve nodded. "She's the most popular girl in this school, even though she's two years younger than us. A lot of seniors are trying to win her over." He nudged Brad beside him.

"Even this guy here," he grinned.

Brad turned red and hissed, looking around for Nancy. Fortunately, his girlfriend was not close enough to hear what they were saying.

"Okay, okay, I used to be a ladies' man," Brad admitted. "But then I met Nancy and my playboy days were done." He softened his expression. "But other than that, yeah, she's pretty popular."

"Looks like the Grenville princess has a crush on you. She's still blushing." David teased.

Alex took a sip of water and nodded, "She's okay." He thought to himself, cute, pretty, yeah. But he suspected he would forget about her once he got home.

When Sarah returned home, Deliah squealed, "Sissy, I think I'm in love!"

Sarah was stunned and asked, "What? Who?"

Deliah giggled "This new guy at school, his name is Alex. A total heartthrob!"

Sarah rolled her eyes, "Pfft, more like total doofus."

Deliah whined, "Sarah, come on! I felt that electric spark when I saw him in the hallway today. He's so good-looking and even saved me from falling. He's a real-life superhero!"

Sarah countered, "Any decent human being would have saved you from falling. If they didn't, then they're not worth your time."

Deliah pouted, "Sarah, I really like him and I think he might be my soulmate."

Sarah sighed, "Deliah, it's only been one day. How could you possibly know if he's the one? What if he breaks your heart in the future?"

Deliah nodded understandingly, "I get it, but can't I at least give it a shot? We can't judge him as a bad person without giving him a chance."

Sarah reluctantly gave in, "Okay, fine."

She watched as Deliah danced off, singing something like "My superhero" or something of the likes.

Sarah shook her head

"Don't get hurt, Deliah. I'll blame myself if I can't save you from it." She whispered.
