Hannah is lying on a bed in the infirmary with her hands tied in a blue cloth, and Yuan is sitting next to her with his hands resting on his forehead. He sighs, his face is showing an obvious signs of exhaustion.
He glanced at the sleeping girl, and he noticed that Hannah's cheek had some clear redness on it.
I can't believe I did it. Did I feel bad about it? I'm not going to lie. It feels satisfying knowing that I might just have punched a devil inside her.
"…."
There's a devil inside her, .....right?
This is what they call a possession; I mean, Hannah is clearly not in control in this event.
A sweat flows down on his cheek, thinking of all the possibilities.
This is the first time this has happened, so devils can control a person to this extent? This is kind of dangerous.
"Hmg," Yuan's eyes widened as he heard Hannah's groaned.
Her eyes slowly opened.
"..."
"Hannah, are you ok?"
"My face hurts." Hannah muttered
Yeah, I'm sure it is. He commented sarcastically inside his head.
This is good though. I feel like she is back to normal.
"Can't you remember?"
When she hears it,
She remembers everything that just happened between them, and she suddenly becomes pale as she starts panicking.
She thought about why she did such a thing. She jumps on the bed and looks Yuan in the face.
"Ah, I'm sorry! I just tried to kill you, didn't I?"
Yuan looks back with a shocked expression, then smiles.
*pfft*
"Hahaha, kill me." What kind of dream did you have? Can't you remember? You want me to help you go to the infirmary, but once we entered, you stumbled and lost your balance, hit your face on the side of the bed and passed out. "
I can't really tell her the truth—that the devil is possessing her. It will only make me look crazy, and the devil might still be here somewhere, so the risk of the devil knowing that I can see and hear them or just knowing their existence is really bad, especially now that I found out that devils that can possess someone like this exist.
"Did that really happen?" Hannah asked
She starts thinking that maybe what Yuan is saying is the truth, but when she looked at him one more time, she saw some bandages on Yuan's forehead and cheek.
"Yuan, your face?" she asked with an obvious worried expression on her face.
"ah this? I tried to help you when you were about to fall, but we ended up going down together. You owe me lunch for this. "
Hannah gives a sigh of relief as she hears Yuan's explanation.
"then th—"
When she was about to look at the phone in her bag, she suddenly felt that she couldn't move her hands. When she looked at it, she saw her hands tied up with a blue cloth.
"…."
She is just there, smiling with a face that says "loading." She looks at Yuan for confirmation that what she is seeing is real, and then Yuan just looks away.
"What is this?"
Yuan then reaches for it with his hands and begins to untie it as though it were the most natural thing in the world. He smiles, acting as if nothing is amiss with what is taking place in the room.
"I tried to prank you by tying you up, but you just wouldn't wake up, so I kind of forgot about it."
Hannah went "oi" as she then moved her hands around and looked at Yuan with doubtful eyes.
*stare* Ah, that stare from her burns. I know, right? I would not believe that excuse either. I need to think of a distraction.
Hannah looked him in the eyes, saying, "In my dreams, you just punched me right in the face as well, and I'm starting to believe that it's not a dream at all." as she caresses her cheek
"But you said you tried to kill me, right? Then punching you in the face sounds like a fair trade; we are officially even," he smiled like a businessman selling a product.
Hannah stares at him with a face saying, "This guy," as Yuan stands up from his chair.
"Anyway, you're fine now, which is good," he tells her looking her in the eyes while smiling.
It's not that she had any other choice aside from believing me, because what just happened is far from normal, and she did manage to regain herself, so I guess that's not bad at all.
Yuan looked at Hannah and said,
"You did a good job, Hannah."
"…."
Hannah looks back as her mouth opens slightly.
The unexpected compliment startled her, and she tried to say "thank you," but she was unable to.
Words wouldn't come out of her mouth, but instead tears started flowing down her face, which made her confused and overwhelmed. His compliment is the same that she hears from everyone, but this time it feels different.
Sometimes, in just one sentence, words that you thought you wouldn't get or hear can make someone really emotional. Like a sudden punch in the gut, a complement from someone who recognizes and validates their existence, a one simple reward for all their hard work.
And for Hannah, who tried her best all of her life, and someone who knows the real her and tells her that she did a great job, is all it takes to make her cry. All the pain that she had bottled up came bursting out.
Yuan, although he had a face saying, "What a pain," didn't make any unnecessary moves and just waited for her. At the end of the day, he can relate to Hannah to some degree, and he knows where all that emotion is coming from.
People might say, just be real, show the real you, and everyone will understand you. If this world is that forgiving, then people like Hannah won't be in this kind of situation. Most of the time, we only hear the things that are music to our ears, and we only see the things that are beautiful in our eyes. If you're not one of those things, it means you are invisible to them, and you have no other choice but to be one.
Yuan smirked as he thought, "They are like devils in human clothing." "It's kind of ironic."
trying to become something that other people can see just to validate my existence, I can't do such a thing, which is why being alone is much better for me. Everyone can just fuck themselves, which is why, at the same time, I respect those people who can do such a hellish things because I won't.
