"Good day Ma'am! Like I said on the phone yesterday, there's a new development regarding the case. We found the CCTV footage that went missing. According to the video, the truck collided with Mr Fred's car while the driver died in the explosion. There was an unidentified man on a bike that was present at the scene. He was putting on a hood and was wearing a face mask. We're currently searching for him", Jay reported to Joan. "Thank you! I really hope he's found soon", Joan replied. "We'll try our best to locate him", Jay said. "What about Mr Fred, how's he doing? I forgot to have invited him over as well", Jay added. "It's fine, I'll inform him about the update. Fred has recovered and entered the company. He should remember a thing or two about the accident", Joan replied. "Alright, you can keep me informed", Jay answered. "I'll take my leave my leave then", Joan said and left. She was on her way home when Fred call entered. "Hi! I was just about to call you. There's a new update regarding the case, let's meet up by 7pm in the cafe and talk privately", she said and hung up.
"Baby, you're home", Annie said as Joan entered the house. "Yes, I visited the police station. Jay has some update regarding Fred's case", Joan replied. "Wow! Isn't he supposed to call Fred, why is it you! I think he has a thing for you", Annie said. "Gosh! don't say that. He's just doing his work and being a good policeman. Don't forget I was the one that saved Fred", Joan answered. "Alright ma'am, yes you saved him. And Fred offered himself to you in return, while Jay took advantage of the case to get close to you", Annie replied. Maggie came out of her room while drying her hair. "What're you guys talking about. I can't even dry my hair in peace. I keep hearing Fred and Jay, what's up with them?", Maggie asked. "Sweetheart, I told Joan Jay has a thing for her, look she doesn't believe me. Yes, he's doing his work but he doesn't have to invite Joan alone to the station without informing Fred. The other day, he drove her home...." Annie said. "I think what you said makes sense. On the day of the incident, Jay drove her home. Let's admit Joan was scared by what happened. But what about now, she should be out of the case already while Fred faces it alone. Jay truly has a thing for her", Maggie said. "The way he calls her weekly too", Annie added. "It's alright guys. You've watched too many dramas and is overthinking. Where's Tracy?", Joan asked. "She's not back from work yet, Annie answered. "Ohh! it's 5pm already. Maybe she's caught up in something", Joan replied. "Don't try to change the topic. How's things going between you and Fred?", Maggie asked. "Yes, tell us about it", Annie added. Joan smiled shyly and refused to talk, while Tracy got back. "What's up Joan, why are you smiling that way. It's scary c'mon", Tracy said. "Ohh! you're back Tracy", Annie said. "Welcome baby give me a hug", Maggie said. "Well, we asked your friend to tell us about Fred, then she smiled while you entered", Maggie added. "Ohh! that's it. Tell us about him Joan", Tracy urged her. "Fred entered the company today", Joan answered. "Is that all? Was there any spark", Tracy asked. "Well, there's nothing much. We welcomed him in the company, he also visited my office and we talked quite a bit", Joan added. "What did you guys talk about?", Maggie asked. "Work and other things. You know how Fred is, tried to catch him with me. Though I like him that way, but I really don't want him to get involved in a gossip on his first day at work", Joan answered. "Wow! you're so thoughtful. Do you like him that much, you didn't even worry about yourself", Maggie said. "I actually don't care about all of that. But he needs to build his image in the group and establish a foothold. I met his sister yesterday as well, Mitchell. She's a beautiful young woman and a talented artist, she gave me the painting I showed you guys. The one I told you I just got", Joan said. "She's such a sweet soul. You got yourself a good sister in-law", Tracy said. Joan smiled a little and said, "I have another news for y'all". "What news is that?", Annie asked. "I'm meeting Fred by 7pm later, but that's not the news. I heard some employees gossip today about Fred. He actually used to manage the company's branch in France and is very competent. Those old foxes tried to kill him when they heard he'll be managing the company here too", Joan answered. "You know he'll be digging them out one after the other", She added. "Wow! I knew he was someone extraordinary though. He should actually be competent. He's the son of Mr Benard, your future father in law", Maggie said. The ladies talked on for quite some while before taking some rest while Joan set out for the cafe a quarter to 7pm.
At the cafe
"You're here already", Joan exclaimed while seeing Fred sited in a corner. "Yes, I got here not quite long. How're you doing", he asked. "I'm doing fine", Joan replied. "I visited the station earlier today, Mr Jay told me about the update, the CCTV footage was found and an unidentified bike man was at the scene", she added. "It's fine, we'll take our time with the findings. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me so far. We'll keep up with the case together", Fred replied. "It's alright. Do you know this spot is exactly where I was sited when the incident took place. I was together with a client, we were having tea and discussed about work", Joan answered. "Wow! We must be really fated. You're sitting here the second time because of me. I should have done a lot of good in my past life for me to be fortunate enough to have met you. It's indeed a blessing", Fred said while holding Joan's hand gently. "Enough with the flattery. You're too good with words, you should become a presenter", Joan said. "Really! then I could be your favourite presenter", Fred answered. "By the way, I wanna ask you about something. Did you work in the company's branch at France before?", Joan asked. "Yes, I did. I enjoyed my work there. But dad suddenly called me to come home. It was meant to be a private trip, only my family was aware. On getting here, I got involved in an accident, a beauty ended up saving me", Fred answered. "Can't you talk smoothly without uttering some words, you're such a sweet talker", Joan said. "So tell me about your life on France", Joan added. They went on further while talking until late at night. Fred had dinner with Joan and dropped her home before returning to his house.
It was weekend, Joan met with Mitchell alone in a restaurant. "I asked you out today to say thanks for the painting you gave me earlier", Joan said. "You're welcome. I should thank you instead, for rescuing my brother and taking good care of him. You see, he's so happy these days, I've never seen him smile so brightly. He's always wearing a serious look before you appeared", Mitchell replied. "Really! I didn't know he was like that. Since we've known each other, he's been outgoing and passionate", Joan said. "Wow! my brother has changed a lot since you two met. You influenced him positivity, I like that", Mitchell said. Joan laughed and said, "No, you're sounding like Fred right now. You siblings are really alike, you're too good with words". "Do you know when you fall in love, you begin to hear your lover's voice even in another person's voice. You've fallen in love with Fred", Mitchell said. Joan laughed again and said, "it's not possible.. let's eat before the dishes get cold. "So tell me, how far have you gone with my brother. He's a very good man, a lot of ladies admire him. There's this lady, what's her name again, Jane. She's hovering on Fred and has liked him since we were little. You can say they're childhood sweethearts, but my brother doesn't really fancy her", Mitchell said. "Jane, what does she do? Why are you telling me about this too?", Joan asked. "I'm telling you so you'll know about her and be careful around her. I heard she'll back soon, she learnt of what happened to Fred and wants to check on him. She's also a businesswoman and is witty. She'll definitely try ways to win Fred from you", Mitchell answered. "Thank you for telling me. There's nothing between I and Fred yet", Joan said. "There's nothing yet, but there'll definitely be something between you two in the future. Be careful with Jane, she's nice to me, but she isn't a good person to any woman in my brother's life", Mitchell replied. "Alright, I'll listen to you", Joan answered. "So how're you getting used to this place", Joan asked. "Well, this place is really nice, I enjoy it more. It even gives me inspiration for my drawings. Don't worry, when you and Fred get married, I'll give you a huge portrait as a wedding gift together with other goodies", Mitchell answered. "Can you be serious for once", Joan said and pinched Mitchell slightly while laughing. They talked further for some while and returned to their abode when they were done.
