Chapter 1 - DEAR DIARY

"Dear diary, it was my 18th birthday yesterday… in this world. I don't even know whether I should be happy about turning an adult or sad about the fact that I have been engaged to the Broken Princess of Irae Kingdom who is 5 years older than me!"

"…The political scenario is quite intriguing but I never wanted to be a part of it. However, just because I wish to avoid something doesn't mean it won't come around, right? A Royal decree was announced and now—I have no choice. Sigh~ This world is as cruel as my previous one…"

"What I hate about politics is how even blood-related kins can backstab you for benefits. Luckily, I don't have any siblings in this life, and—Unluckily, because I didn't have any other sibling to take this responsibility, I was chosen as the fiancé of the Princess… Truly a magnificent fate!..."

Under the dim moonlight and dull feeble flames of the oil lamp—Kole jabbed the pen into the inkpot and continued writing with an expressionless face.

"…From what I heard she is an illegitimate descendant of the King. But there is a catch. According to rumors, she is the illegitimate daughter born from the tryst the King had with the General of Defense—The woman that holds authority over the martial prowess of the Kingdom. What a bastard…"

"… Also, they call her the Broken Princess because of the rumors surrounding her that—She is a man-hater. Awesome! Anyways…"

"…Mom looked pretty hot yesterday at my birthday celebration. Well, considering she gave birth to me she is my mother…"

"…But how do I explain this—I have already lived two lives, and had a mother in both lives—At some point, you will lose the logic of morals and virtues when thinking deeply about it… Who is my real mother? Could there be more than two motherly figures in one's life? I don't think so…"

"…I know many will judge me, but that's okay! When Galileo said Earth is not the center of the universe, everyone called him foolish, absurd, and heretical, however, just take one look at history and the populace knows who was the real dumbf*ck?"

"…I hope everything goes well in tomorrow's Awakening ceremony."

Kole capped the pen and inkpot. Feeling tired, he stretched his limbs and a low groan of satisfaction escaped his lips.

After a brief moment of pleasure, he closed his dark, leather-bound diary and put it aside on the table. Kole didn't fear that someone would read it and even if they did, chances were they wouldn't understand it. After all, it was written in English from his first life on Earth.

If someone could understand it—it'd mean they also hail from the same place. Kole would be much glad to meet such a person even at the cost of compromising his privacy… because that would be a huge aid to his unstable psyche—which was truly not in a good state after reincarnating twice.

It must be said that his mind felt weary, and his back hurt as if a huge boulder was attached to his shoulders. Kole wanted nothing more than to escape this cycle and find a peaceful place to rest—but he couldn't.

Despite dying twice, he didn't die willingly once nor was he suicidal. No matter how much sh*t he went through, he was not a person to give up on his life. He kept pushing himself forward in search of something…

At first, he kept making pretexts and offered himself answers that best suited himself and his circumstances so that he could keep advancing…

However, it was only once he died again that he realized he never knew what the answer was in the first place.

What he was looking for was—Answers to questions that kept haunting him after he died.

On Earth, he lived his first life as an average Joe. Later, he got an average job and married an average girl, and lead a decent average life… till old age pulled him to death's door.

During his first reincarnation, he was born as the Crown Prince—the future King of a particular Kingdom where mana was practiced and people could cultivate strength.

Kole thought it was his duty to lead humanity to prosperity! Bring the devil race together and end the long-lasting war between the two. He thought, this was the reason for his reincarnation!

This was the answer he was looking for!

However, as fate befell—he realized how foolish he was. Being a powerful mana practitioner and capable general, he crushed most of his enemies.

Yet, who would've thought that a moment of carelessness after achieving that goal would lead to his demise—the second death!

Kole was backstabbed by his younger brother! That wretched brother of his wanted Humanity to rule and not be equal to the Devils. His propaganda was so strong—it was astonishing, as one by one, Kole's closest aides displayed their hideous smiles, ruining all of Kole's years of hardwork!

Thinking about his second death Kole let out a hollow chuckle as a famous Latin phrase came up in his mind—Et tu Brute?! Unfortunately, Kole's younger brother wasn't named Brute, or else, it would've been truly hilarious!

Shaking his head to derail the out-of-control train of thoughts, Kole looked up at the darkness outside the window with a blank, lost look on his face as he muttered…

"Why me?"

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Reincarnating me twice… for what, Tempest Goddess?"

A streak of lightning flashed in the distance creating a deafening sound that rumbled throughout the city of Stormwatch—the capital of Irae Kingdom.
