"A vampire?!"
'But that's not possible, how did it get in here?' she thought as a shiver run down her spine. It was common knowledge that the magical abilities of the vampires were inferior to that of the other species. Had they found some way to improve their magic? How was this vampire a able to enter the castle and into this sanctuary, created by the fairies no less.
Her train of thought was interrupted by the sight of a bright red flame forming in the palm of the vampire.
"How is this possible?" she mumbled.
"Duck" he cried out and pulled her out of the way with all his strength. The ground they had been standing on seconds ago had been scorched beyond recognition.
'That was too close' she thought trying to catch her breath.
"Let's go into the forest, it would be harder for him to aim in there" he said as he held her hand. She nodded in agreement and they were off into the forest.
The vampire flew in after them, occasionally shooting glowing balls of in their direction. However it continued to miss with the fire hitting the trees instead proving him right.
"He's getting closer!" she shouted out in panic.
"I can get us out of here but we need to shake him off first." he replied, his golden eyes glowing brightly.
He created a flame in his hand that shined the same colour as his eyes. He aimed and shot at the vampire. It screeched in pain as the fire burnt its flesh. It bled as it fell from the sky shooting one more fire ball in their direction before completely falling to the ground. They continued to move until they were sure that they weren't being followed.
"Are you ok?" he asked checking for any wounds.
"I'm fine thanks" she replied.
He clutched in his arm as drops of blood dripped between his fingers.
"You're bleeding" she gasped.
"I'm alright" he assured her.
" No let me heal you, its the least I can do" she said firmly.
His lips curled into a smile and he rolled up his sleeve for her. She closed her eyes concentrating as she placed her hand directly over his wound. A few seconds later her hands glowed with a bright green light and vines seemed to stretch from her hand and wrapped around his moving slowing in a hypnotic manner.
When she opened her eyes they shone with a green light before quickly fading away along with the vines.
"I'm fully healed" he said in astonishment.
He had never met a healer as talented as her, the fastest healing spell took at least five minutes but she took less than a second.
" I'm very powerful you know" she said winking.
" Yeah you're amazing" he praised as her face turned pink." OK now let's get out of here, I think I'll be able to create a portal."
"Stand back" he cautioned and drew a circle in the air and a light blue portal appeared. It flickered like it could disappear at any moment.
"I was right" he mumbled. " Quick through the portal" he urged.
She hurriedly jumped through and he prepared to enter as well. An eerie scream from within the forest rang out and he jumped into the portal closing it with a flkick of his wrist as he landed on the garden floor.
Exhausted they laid on the ground sighing in relief.
"I'm sorry I put us in danger" She said full of guilt. " And thank you for saving my life" she added.
"Its alright" he comforted. " On the bright side we know that the vampires are progressing and were able to breach the castles defense, I'll report this to the king"
She smiled at him extremely grateful for him.
" By the way what were you talking about right before we entered the portal" she asked in confusion.
His expression turned grave as he explained to her.
"Did you notice that our magic felt weaker in there?"
"No I didn't really take notice" she answered embarrassed she hadn't realized something so important.
"I think the vampires have found a way to block out werewolf magic"
A look of absolute horror splashed across her face. "Thats horrible news!"
she cried out. " Everyone knows that werewolf magic works the best against those evil creatures."
She plunged into worry, afraid of how this new piece of information was going to affect the war.
"Don't worry" he tried to comfort her. "Everything's going to be fine, but I think we should go to bed now"
The night was long gone as the sun was beginning to rise.
"Um...yeah so I guess I'll see you later??" she said as he helped her of the ground.
"Yeah see you later"
He smiled to himself as he watched her skip away happily, controlling his urge to chase after her, hold her in his arms and never let go.
"I must be out of my mind" he mumbled to himself. " Love at first sight? No point in that now" he sighed as he exited the garden.
