Chapter 2 - Chapter I: Première Danse

(Just so you all know Pixie's pronouns fluctuate during the story as they use they/them, it/it's and she/her pronouns so I will be using all. Whenever there are scenes with more than two characters, Pixie's pronouns for those scenes will always be it/it's just to help with some confusion.)

Most people, anyone with common sense really, when offered the chance to be a professional assassin, exempt from all rules and laws as long as certain conditions were followed, would jump on the chance in a heartbeat. However, Pixie Albritch didn't. Instead of taking a once in a lifetime chance (or so she thought) they chose to continue the path they were already on. You see, they are a doctor, albeit not the normal kind. They specialize in magical cases for instance curses or magical side effects.

They thought that if they were to go down that path they'd lose all the progress they've made, especially with a certain patient in particular. Once they learned that wasn't the case they hopped on the opportunity as fast as Willows attach themselves to joy. So that leads us to today, three years after their hiring.

A tall red haired woman sat in a chair across from the multi colored Pixie. She had long tall red horns and a long spiked wine colored tail. "So, I know this one is a bit out of your wheelhouse but I think you can do it."

This piqued Pixie's interest. "How far outside my wheelhouse?"

The woman smiles. "Not far, it's just there's multiple targets, two to be precise. They're fellow assassins actually. The contractor wants you to seduce them then murder them."

Pixie rolls their eyes. "You know I hate doing that. And that I'm not comfortable."

The woman nods. "I know, however, it's part of the deal. You have too. You don't have a choice unless you want to be turned in."

Pixie groans loudly and throws their head back. "Fine. Can I get their files? It's the least you could do Kiri."

Kiri nods as she slides two matching files across the desk. "They're married so this is going to be a fun challenge for you."

Pixie growls quietly. "Of course they are. Got anything else I need to know that might not be in here?" They ask, picking up the top file.

Kiri shakes their head. "No. But remember, here I'm your boss, we aren't on nickname basis."

Pixie rolls their eyes. "Fine, Kirikumo."

Kirikumo nods. "Good. Get to reading, I heard they're currently looking for a third so this will be your chance."

Pixie grabs the other file then gets up, quickly walking out the room. They couldn't seem more uncomfortable with this if they tried. "I mean it's not like this is the first time I've dealt with a married couple. At least they'll be dying together?" They think, trying to stay positive about their new situation.

As Pixie exits their office they happen to see an attractive pair walking by. Of course, they couldn't help but take a glance. Shaking their head they quickly look away and begin walking in the direction of their home.

The pair could be heard snickering which just made Pixie more annoyed. "Whatever." They think and open one file while they walk, choosing not to pay attention to the footsteps trailing behind them.

Pixie stops in their tracks for a second as they stare at the first person's picture. In their eyes the other was absolutely stunning. Her eyes were the most gorgeous shade of emerald green and her hair like that of an autumn sunset. "Wow, she's so pretty. Those eyes.." They mumbles softly as they begin walking again, reading the file as they walk along.

As they take a close look at some additional pictures provided, mostly of the pair together, they realize that they were the beautiful strangers they had just passed. Shaking their head they sigh. "Of course." They mumble softly.

They turn their head back for a moment just to see if the strangers were still in sight. Pixie jumps a little as they see the pair following behind her. They move over to the side to allow the pair to pass without trouble. Though, strangely enough, they opt to stay behind.

"Kiri did say there were assassins as well. It could be that they're after me like I am them." Pixie mumbles quietly, unsure if the pairing were within hearing distance, after all many species have advanced hearing nowadays.

Pixie shakes her head. "Nevermind them. I have to get home." She closes the file and picks up pace a little, deciding to read them over once she gets home. Her slightly sensitive ears continue to hear the footsteps following behind. "Are they really doing this now in broad daylight? Or are they just trailing me? Seeing what I'm up to?" They think as they shake their head.

"No. They can't be that stupid." She thinks as she stops at a crosswalk, waiting for her turn to cross.

Pixie flinches as it feels arms being laid over their shoulders. It then rolls their eyes as it heard the first person talk.

The woman smiles. "Hey sweet stuff. I couldn't help but notice a sweet little thing like you walking all by yourself? You know this neighborhood is dangerous right?"

Pixie sighs gently. "Listen, I appreciate the pleasantries but drop it. I know who you are, Aithné." It says venom in its voice as it jams the heel of the shoe onto Aithné's foot.

"Ouch!!! Hey!!!" She yells, hopping around on one foot. "That was uncalled for!"

The male on Pixie's other side begins laughing. "Man, that was great." He says, bent over from his laughter.

Pixie smiles and nods as it notices the sign changing, deeming it it's turn to cross. "I'm glad one of us thought it amusing." It says, rolling it's eyes as it crosses the street.

It smirks a bit as it looks back at the pair from the other side of the crosswalk. "I look forward to seeing you again, hopefully in more.. of a calming situation next time. I'll be at Ikebuko tonight if you decide to join me we could do this properly." She says, winking as she walks off.

Aithné smirks. "She's definitely got some spunk huh? Just my type."

Her husband sighs and shakes his head. "Aithné."

Aithné laughs. "What! We are looking!"

Kalama shakes his head. "We're hired to kill her, not date her."

Aithné shrugs. "Who says we can't do both. Now if you don't mind, I've got some time to kill before my date tonight." She says, flicking her hair in Kalama's face as she walks past.

Kalama's face shifts to one of surprise and betrayal. "Hey! No fair! I wanted to go!!"

Aithné smirks. "I call dibs. She's mine first."

Kalama rolls his eyes as he walks beside his wife. "Fine asshole. Be that way, no cuddles for you when you get home then. If you get home."

Aithné scoffs. "How dare you. Hmph. Fine. You know you won't be able to resist not giving me cuddles anyways." She playfully smacks his arm. "And what do you mean if?! Of course I'm gonna make it home. I'm not weak!"

Now it was his turn to scoff. "I never said you were weak, I just meant that you might decide to spend the night with her, that's all."

Aithné pouts. "Sure you didn't. And just for that comment I might!"

Kalama sighs gently as he shakes his head. "So stubborn." He laughs softly as they continue to walk, Aithné immediately wanting to know what he's laughing at.

Pixie couldn't get the pair out of her head the entire walk home. There was just something about them that was so captivating. Their methods were down right absurd in her opinion, not to mention the woman's overly flirtatious attitude pissed her off slightly. But despite those flaws, she couldn't help being captivated by the pair.

She shakes the red haired duo out of her head as she walks inside her apartment. It was quite spacious and large for three people, let alone two. "Noir! I'm home!!!" Pixie yells as she sets the files on the kitchen counter.

An excited six year old comes running down the stairs, her chocolate curls bouncing as she does so. "Hi mama!!!!"

Pixie smiles softly as she swiftly scoops up the girl. "Hey baby, were you good while I was gone?"

Noir nods. "Mhms!!!! I was good!! Only one thing broke!! Can you believe it mama!!!"

Pixie's smile widens. "Really baby! That's awesome, lovely!!!" She chuckles as she spins Noir around then sets her down on the counter. She gives her kisses all over her face and both her small ram horns. "Did you have a good day?"

Noir nods. "Mhm!! Me and Whiskers played while you were gone!"

Pixie nods. "Was Whiskers good too?"

Noir smiles. "Mhms!! Whiskers is always good, mama!!"

Pixie nods again. "Good." She kisses Noir's nose then heads to the fridge. "I'm guessing Whiskers made you guys lunch already?"

Noir nods. "Mhms!!! He left just before you got home!!"

Pixie's smile softens. She had never formally met this Whiskers but from the years Noir had been around so had he so she knew he was somewhat trustworthy. He seemed to be a creature Noir could summon whenever she wanted but the fact that he always left before she returned made her a little suspicious. "As long as you had a healthy lunch."

Noir smiles wide. "We did!!" Her ocean blue eyes glance towards the files next to her. "What's that mama?"

Pixie turns then chuckles, kicking the fridge door shut with her foot. "Just something for work baby, don't worry your pretty little head about it." She kisses Noir's head then takes a piece of starfruit from the bag she'd grabbed, popping it into her mouth.

Noir nods. "Okay mama!! Can I go play now?"

Pixie nods. "You can, good job asking princess" She picks Noir back up then sets her down on the floor only for Noir to run back towards her playroom.

Pixie sighs gently as she grabs the folder. She planned on keeping her daughter's innocence as long as possible. Noir didn't need to know about her other job. All Noir needed to know was that her mama was a doctor and that she was gonna help her.

After grabbing a dark pink beverage from the fridge Pixie heads to her office, pulling the door too after she walks in. Pixie always made sure to pull the door too instead of shutting it so Noir knew she could come inside. If the door was closed it meant Pixie wasn't allowed to be disturbed unless it was an emergency.

Setting the folder down on her desk she proceeds to sit and study over the files for many hours, occasionally taking breaks to play with or feed Noir. Once she had to take a break to clean up a little mess as well but Pixie couldn't be mad after all she knows it's not Noir's fault.

Pixie laughs softly as she sets dinner on the table. She had made Noir's favorite to make up for the fact she wasn't gonna be home tonight. It was dino nuggets and mac n cheese, what do you expect; she's six.

Noir smiles as she watches Noir eat happily. "Alright sweetheart, auntie Kiri should be here soon." As if on cue Kirikumo's signature heels could be heard walking through the house. "Hi!! How's my favorite little goddaughter!!!" She exclaims as she picks up Noir, twirling her around.

Pixie laughs. "Okay, you two have fun. I'm heading out." She kisses Noir's head, rolling her eyes when Kirikumo pouts silently asking for her own kiss. Pixie kisses both their cheeks then quickly exits.

When around their goddaughter Kirikumo seemed quite different as a person. At work and usually in general one would describe her as cold and uncaring, but around their goddaughter that just simply wasn't the case. Noir was special and Kirikumo knew that she needed to be treated delicately or else things could go very very wrong.

Noir, despite her young age, was extremely powerful, she could crumble the entire town in a second if things were to get out of hand. Kirikumo always knew Noir was special, even before she was born. Dating Fate's auxiliary had its perks ya know? So of course Kirikumo knew everything they'd ever need too about the child even before she was born.

They'd known a child who had this much power, especially when they don't know how to use it, could be absolutely devastating so they vowed to make sure the child would land in the right hands. Even if that might breaking a few godly laws but who cares about that part of any of it really. The point is Kirikumo made sure Noir went into Pixie's care. After all, having a magic specialist as a mother in Noir's case would be exceptional.

Pixie smiles a bit as she thinks about how much fun Kirikumo and Noir were having. However she knew her night wouldn't be as fun. "Anithé seems like a fairly decent person besides her… personality? Yeah sure." Pixie sighs as she adjusts her dress. "It's a shame really, she's married. I always hate killing the married ones." She mumbles to herself as she walks into her favorite nightclub, Ikebuko.

The bartender smiles and waves as they see Pixie walking in, immediately fixing her favorite; a cosmopolitan accompanied with two shots of tequila.

Pixie laughs as they slide the drinks over. "Thanks babe." It smiles. It finished it's cosmopolitan and one shot of tequila before they heard the bell ding.

Pixie's pale silver eyes glanced towards the door from their seat at the bar, the bell above it could be heard jingling as the door swung open. "Let the show begin." It thought to itself as it downed it's last shot shot of tequila.

The sound of heels could be heard walking across the checkered tile floor. Before long the owner of those footsteps sat themselves a few feet away from the silver eyed person. The other glanced up for a mere second, only to confirm their suspicions.

The other chuckled softly. "What, got nothing to say sugar?" Her voice was as soft as velvet and as smooth as silk. Her voice had a hint of an accent, like she was from another place.

The silver eyed person chuckled. "Just because you say down near me doesn't mean I have to talk to you." It said calmly, it's voice smooth and delicate sounding. It's eyes lingered on the counter for a moment then looked up to meet the woman's.

She had firey red hair, like the color of an autumn sky. It was quite literally on fire, well at least the ends were. She seemingly could control it. Her eyes were as green as emeralds and could seemingly glow, however it could just be the lighting. She had on bright mauve lipstick but other than that no visible make up.

It's eyes lingered down a little to analyze what she was wearing which was just a simple red dress and some black platform heels. It's eyes found the woman's once more.

The woman smirks a bit as she eyes the Pixie's collarbone area. "You know… I suppose what they say about fallen angels is false, your wings are just as white as ever."

Pixie cocks an eyebrow then remembers the tattoo of white abstract angel wings they have on their collarbone. Rolling it's eyes it flashes a quick smile. "Oh, how pleasant of you to notice. I'll give you points for creativity though."

The woman laughs softly. "At least your honest." She glances quickly over the person's dress which certainly doesn't leave much up to the imagination. It was a simple off the shoulder black dress with a slit down the right leg, it was common to say the least but they were in a common place after all.

Upon further inspection the woman finds intricate silver hand sewn details on the collar and middle of the dress. "Guess not so common." She thinks. "Would you mind telling me who made that lovely dress of yours?"

Pixie chuckles softly. "Wonderful isn't it? And I made it myself."

The woman's eyes widened. "My target is a fashion designer!? How unfortunate…" She thinks. "You must be very talented then." She says, a smirk playing on her lips.

Pixie shakes it's head. "Not exactly, it's just something I do on the side. I'd be more than happy to show you sometime?"

The woman smiles. "I'd be more than happy to see your wonderful work Miss?"

The person chuckles. "Pixie, you may call me Pixie. But of course you already know that. And is this really how we're doing things?" They hold out their hand.

The woman smirks, gently taking her hand and kissing the top. While glances at her hand she notices a ring tattoo on her ring finger. "And she's most likely married too? More unfortunate." The woman laughs. "You're the one who wanted to do this properly."

Pixie cringes a little internally at this but waits for the woman to let it's hand go.

"My name is Aithné, it's a pleasure." She smiles, gently setting the others hand on the counter.

Pixie nods. "Truly a pleasure." It rolls it's eyes internally at the excessive flirting. "Yeah this is work but still! Why can't we just have a normal conversation!?" They think annoyedly.

Ainthé smiles softly as she hears a solemn yet bouncy song begin to play. She grabs Pixie's hand and leads them out to the dance floor. The song was in French from what she could tell.

Pixie laughs softly. "Good choice, this is my favorite."

Aithné smiles more at this. "You listen to French music?"

Pixie nods. "Of course, I absolutely adore it actually. I listen so much that I know a bit of French myself."

The pair begins to twirl and dance around the floor as the beat begins to pick up. Pixie giggles a little. "Ballroom dancing? In a club?"

Aithné laughs. "It's only fitting for the song."

Pixie nods. "I suppose that's true." They smirk a little. "How fitting for this to be your last danse." It thinks as they continue. Her mostly platinum blonde hair shines in the lights as they continue. It admits, it does find Aithné to be rather intriguing. There was nothing in the contract saying they couldn't get to know each other after all.
