Chapter 76 - Academy Tournament Part 3

Davis Blackraven is one of the major Antagonists of the game and is the character that the community considers as the protagonist's main rival in the story.
You'll get to meet Davis at the midgame of the story who will introduce himself as the Villain. But compared to how I meet him in this world, Davis in the game was already a full-pledge member of the cults and is in a commander position no less.
His story in this game was very tragic. Davis was a former noble whose family got killed for an unknown cause. Her childhood friend which I think is Jasmine Dawnmeadow considering their always together with Davis adopted him and became always with Jasmine since then.
Of course, as his benefactor and their relationship as the opposite gender, it didn't take long before Davis started to feel something to Jasmine to which he promised to himself that he will protect him forever. But their story sadly didn't end with a happy ending unfortunately.
In the game, Jasmine got some sort of unknown disease that is slowly killing her overtime. Davis, who has a bad personality which created an enemy of everyone, regrettably didn't get help from anyone—which of course leads to Jasmine's passing.
Blinded by hatred and revenge, Davis who wants to set his revenge on everyone joins the cults to wreak havoc to everyone that cause him his lover's death. Unfortunately, in the end, he was betrayed by the real leader of the cult as used as the last sacrifice to summon the final boss of the game.
And now, I'm currently seeing him at the center of the Arena with of course, a violent attitude but not as chaotic as it was in the game.
"That was surprising..." I mused, visibly thinking.
"What's surprising?" Luna confusedly asked.
"Ah, it's nothing. It's just my first time hearing his name until now."
I know you're thinking how the game was lazy in their story writing but as usual, the game didn't mention any information about Davis that he's actually enrolled in this Academy. That's why I was surprised when I found out that Davis was actually enrolled here in the Academy.
"Match start!" The announcer finally announced the start of the game which Davis's opponent immediately started a move at Davis who was not moving at all.
His opponent was a male elf wearing a concealing cloak and is holding a 『Tomahawks』 in both of his hands. Based on his appearance, he was undoubtedly a 『Rogue』, a very tricky opponent.
The match started by the rogue elf who starts to encircle Davis with unbelievable speed—throwing a bunch of 『Tomahawk』 that's magically returning into him.
A 『Rogue』 is a class that is specialized in stealthy combat and use 『Throwable Weapons』 as their weapons for combat. Well then, how will Davis react to this...
In response to such rapid situation, Davis started to dodge the 『Tomahawks』 with minimal movements. This leaves everyone thinking to the illusion that Davis was being overwhelmed by that Elf who was rapidly throwing 『Tomahawks』 at him.
Thunderous cheers struck the whole Arena. But only those who can understand the situation were watching in serious demeanor.
After a moment of dodging, Davis started to make his move by drawing out his sword in a very rapid rate and flicked it against the 『Tomahawks』 coming at him. Those who know that move widened their eyes in surprise to the similarity. That's right, that's my...
"Master...!" Luna's eyebrow was slightly wrinkled as she called me. "That skill was..."
"Yeah," I respond in serious demeanor, carefully checking Davis on his every movement. "It's the sword skill: ⟨⟨Battōjutsu⟩⟩, so he can use it huh..."
What makes it surprising, is that skill didn't exist in the game as it was a manual skill created by the players of the community. I'm supposed to be the only one that can use it unless there's other person who got transmigrated in this world or it's just a skill that he got from a certain ability scroll.
"This is getting boring," Davis sighted as he expresses his boredom. "Time to end this I guess..."
"What are you—"
But before the elf completes his words, Davis was already in from of him—holding the grip of his sword. Faster than an eye can perceive, Davis pulled out his sword in lightning speed and cut the elf in half.
Good thing they are in some sort of simulation as the elf didn't actually get cut in half but instead got a slice mark on where Davis attacked him on.
"Winner! Davis Blackraven!!"
Vigorous loud cheers emanate on Davis spectacular fight. But for us who has the possibility to fight him for the next round, it was not a very exciting feeling—with the exception of me of course.
To be honest, I'm actually more pumped-up on fighting him. Sora, Seia, Jett, Davis, and potentially Luna. Those individuals are the competitors that's possibly can give me a hard time.
In any case...
"Master, that skill..." Luna mentioned Davis skill once again, looking uneasy. "It's so fast that even I can barely see it."
"It's the sword skill ⟨⟨Iaijutsu⟩⟩ or a quickdraw technique. He sure got some technique in his arsenal isn't he."
It also made me surprise actually. I didn't think Davis was already this strong before he even joins the cults. But what's another concerning...
"His speed Master. I really thought were actually the quickest here in the Academy but to think he's even several faster than us..."
"Yeah, his 『Mobility Boots』 is probably upgraded above us. A tier V 『Mobility Boots』 I assume."
If what my guess is correct. Then Davis is currently a monster right now. Anyways, Luna was surprisingly attentive this time huh. I really hope everyone got the same enthusiasm as her though.
"Master, you mentioned that our 『Mobility Boots』 is currently at tier III, right? Is there really a vast difference between us and to him?" Luna curiously asked.
"That's right. Don't underestimate the upgrades between an item." I cross my arms as I explain. "Compared to us, Davis is overwhelmingly faster than us. Aside from the ⟨⟨Triple Jump⟩⟩, he can now walk on water, has temporary immunity on lava, and other more."
"You're kidding..." Luna's lips wrinkled as her eyebrows droop down in uneasiness. "Then, how are we supposed to fight him? His overwhelming speed aside, I doubt those techniques are the only skills he has."
That's a tough question. To be honest, I don't think any of them can possibly take on Davis with their current strength right now. Me? Of course, I can win... Not a guarantee though...
I didn't manage to answer back to Luna's uneasy question. In response to my silence, the two of us proceed watch the next match in silence.

(Somewhere through the Arena)
"How's that Jasmine?" Davis confidently stated his performance as he wears a smug look on his face.
"Yeah. Though, I would appreciate it more if you could only use that strength of yours to do good things instead of being too violent." Jasmine replied wryly.
"But if don't put a tough act..." Davis's lips wrinkled, looking dejected. "Then someone will start to trample on us—"
"Cough! Cough! ...Ugh...! Cough...!"
"J-Jasmine...!" Davis immediately stops his words and supports Jasmine who was coughing violently. Such concerning state left Davis looking very anxious. "Jasmine, you've been coughing so hard since lately... Don't you think we need to see a physician for this...?!"
"I did, but they said that they couldn't find the reason..."
"Damn it, they're so useless...!" Davis gritted his teeth in frustration.
Jasmine was looking slightly pale compared to before. The reason Davis participated in this tournament was that he can use the award as the price to find an antidote that can heal Jasmine's unknown illness.
"Don't say that. Even the physicians were trying their best to find it." Jasmine toughly said. "Moreover, I won't be down with just a weak disease."
(You don't need to act tough. I already know that you're suffering inside.)
"Damn it... What do I do...?" Davis furiously muttered as he ponders such hopeless predicament.

The sun was already setting on the horizon when the final match has concluded. I'll be brief, after Davis's match, everything went downside for that unfortunately. Compared to the last match, the fight was regrettably not entertaining anymore as the last remaining participants were just some regular fighters.
That's why at the end of the match, only few people remaining can be seen leaving the place, showing a face that they regretted not leaving after Davis' match. I feel kind of bad to the last participants but that's just the reality.
All of us were about the left the place and go to each of their own when suddenly...
"Hey, you guys."
All of us turned to the location of where the voice came from. Aedan, who was with us, has been held captive by a guy who smells like trouble... Are what others thought probably.
Jett whose hugging Aedan, together with his gang whose over 20 scary looking guys at least were looking at us in intimidation.
In response, Luna and the others quickly took out their weapon to prepare to a possibly incoming action. Aedan starts to shriek to such terrifying situation.
"Woah, calm down you guys. I don't have anything with you." After a gentle voice then Jett starts to point at me, displaying a look of anger. "With the exception of that man."
"Eh? Me?!" I pointed at myself in surprise.
Knowing Jett's true personality, I was confident we won't entangle to any trouble here, but it seems like my past won't disappear no matter how I wanted. Now what!
