I shake my head but the words keep coming. "Why do you freeze sometimes? Just when I kissed you and a few times before, you looked like you were willing not to move much. Do you still think it would scare me because—"

I met her dark brown eyes, which I had just noticed had a gray ring around the iris. It's not as harsh as when everything about it changed, just a gray border instead of black. "Then what?" I'm asking.
