Laying on the muddy grounds inside the wild thick forest of Northern Dakota, Mu Zhen, and Ye Mei lay facing each other as they gazed at their stretched-out hands.
They had sustained several bullet wounds after escaping from their assailants but still, it wasn't a successful mission. They couldn't keep going on as they had lost a lot of blood.
"Mu Zhen... Please forgive me... Please forgive me..." Ye Mei stretched her hands out but couldn't reach Mu Zhen's hand, tears streamed down her cheeks after realizing the kind of stupid mistakes she had committed in her entire life.
Mu Zhen crawled closer and leaned on the chunky tree as he caught and dragged Ye Mei's body closer hugging her tightly in his arms.
To him he was useless that he couldn't save her, he couldn't assure her safety and above all, they couldn't escape this deathly trap that was set up.
"I will always forgive you... Mei Mei, could you be selfish next time and love me as much as I have loved you?
Could you please never repeat the same mistakes? If I go back in time I would still love you, I would still do everything for you Mei Mei... " He gently caressed her face which was bruised and had several glaring marks left from knife cuts.
"Mu Zhen... I don't deserve it... I failed you... I wish I never met you in this lifetime... I wish our paths never crossed.." she lifted her right hand weakly and caressed his face. She felt guilt and chased after things that were never hers to start with.
"Mei Mei, you were the only good thing that ever happened to me, so please don't say that..." he warmly gazed at those dimmed eyes.
"If it wasn't for that love, you wouldn't be here! If it wasn't that you trusting me so much, this wouldn't have happened to you... I'm sorry I dragged you into this, you are a good man but you just fell in love with the wrong person. " Yes if it wasn't for all those I wouldn't have betrayed you, I wouldn't have harmed you.
" Mei Mei, I don't regret it even a minute, seeing you happy was my only joy, I hope you would love me back next time... I wish you would selflessly love and choose me.. "
"Ye Mei... I will always love you... if I have a future with you and the next life, allow me to be your only man.." he held her hand that was caressing his face as he warmly gazed at her calm eyes.
"Mu Zhen... I'm sorry.." she regretted everything but it was too late, she closed her eyes and sighed lightly, she had only closed for a second when a bomb that was planted beside where they were lying exploded.
Their fate was eminent and so was their destiny.
Back in time; I will choose you...
Rebirth; I choose to love you.
This time I will love you...
Waking up from her dream, she rubbed her eyes and gazed around curiously, and she was surprised by the new surroundings she was in.
She gazed at the wall clock that was mounted on the left side of the wall, it was 10 am and beside the clock, there was a calendar 2000, this was the year she was in high school before getting engaged and married. Reality hit her...
"What?" Realizing she had been reborn, she shot up from her desk and rushed out of the classroom, and hurried down the corridor crazily while heading to the washrooms.
The entire class and the teacher were surprised by her sudden reactions and thought maybe she had gone crazy.
She got into the washroom and stood in front of the mirror gazing at the image in front of her, whatever she dreamt of didn't seem like reality but she felt the pain and the sentiments attached to it.. she has really gone back in time.
Now she was a beautiful young girl in high school, "hehehe..." She lightly giggled, the girls who were inside the washroom scurried away in fear that she might have actually gone crazy and would attack them unconsciously.
"this time I will do everything right, I won't be used by anyone, I will pay you back your love.." she mumbled exasperated.
Ye Mei strode back with long steps into the classroom seemingly in hurry and went straight to her desk, she picked up her back bag as she dashed out to the highway from the Highgate High School compound.
Today was the most important day, the day that turned things around, the day which was the birth of miseries. The day that brought misfortunes.
She stood across the highway at a safer distance, "Taxi taxi taxi!" She waved her hand numerously and stopped the taxi, she opened the passenger door and got inside, settled down, and buckled her safety belt.
