Everything was white. The floor, the ceiling, the walls, as far as the eye could see. It was enough to drive anyone crazy, but he was already insane.
Years had passed since the first time he was brought to this place, which at first seemed like his personal hell but later became the only moment of peace he could have. Moments trying to forget what he was forced to do and endure in those worlds where he was obliged by a system to embody the villain, the cannon fodder, or simply the insignificant character to make the plot advance. They all had two things in common: a tragic enough life to bring someone to tears and a miserable death.
In that blank space, a limbo, was the only time he tried to forget the pain of life and not cling to the relief of death.
The brief fragments of memories he possessed were barely enough to keep him functional.
"The user &¨%$#@ must prepare for the next world."
A robotic voice echoed through the space, pulling him out of his thoughts and sending a shiver down his spine.
"For what? It's not like it's going to make any difference in the end."
Despite his words, he got up. Delaying was useless, and resisting was futile. His hopes of leaving that place were almost non-existent, and it wasn't like someone was going to mysteriously appear and rescue him from the clutches of the system. Even though he knew this, it was difficult to accept having his body controlled and being just a spectator. To this day, he couldn't understand the purpose of the system in making him reincarnate in these worlds with no purpose.
As he prepared to enter another world, a buzzing noise began to sound through the space. At first, it was soft, almost as if it were a figment of his imagination, but as the seconds passed, it grew and grew until it became unbearable. He put his hands to his ears in a futile attempt to muffle the noise, when the system's voice echoed again.
"Data processing failure."
Said the normally emotionless robotic voice, which this time seemed to betray a trace of panic.
"Alert! Alert!"
The voice continued to sound with increasing urgency.
"Unauthorized access detected!"
"Protection system activated."
He felt blood trickle from his ears, and when he thought he couldn't bear it anymore and was about to succumb to the darkness, a thunderous noise was heard and the buzzing stopped.
"Alert! Failure in executing the protection system."
He turned to search for the source of the thunderous noise and saw a vertical tear appear in one of the walls. His heart was pounding uncontrollably in his chest, hope sprouting in a dizzying manner. Without thinking, he approached the hole. Through it came a man wearing a gray suit.
"Well, we finally found you."
