Chapter 29 - The Werewolf's King iii

Gundamma groggily rubbed his eyes as he sat up, trying to shake off the last remnants of sleep. He glanced around, taking in his surroundings, and saw Lilitha standing over him with a small smile on her face.

Zarr was barking incessantly, wagging his tail and bouncing around excitedly.

Ein was practicing his sword skills nearby, moving with fluid grace as he swung his blade through the air. Gundamma couldn't help but watch in fascination as the warrior moved, his movements almost like a dance.

Orin, as usual, was already busy cooking up a delicious breakfast that filled the air with mouth-watering aromas.

"Good morning," Lilitha said, her voice soft and pleasant.

"Did you sleep well?"

Gundamma grunted in response, still feeling a bit groggy.

As Gundamma sat up and stretched, Ein paused in his practice and walked over.

"You're up early," he said, grinning.

"I was just about to come wake you."

Gundamma shrugged, feeling a bit uncomfortable with all the attention.

"I'm used to early mornings," he said.

"When you're on the run, you don't get much time to rest."

Orin called out from the kitchen,

"Breakfast is ready!" and everyone gathered around the table to eat. The food was delicious, and Gundamma couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt at being treated so kindly by the people he had once tried to kill.

After breakfast, Orin asked Gundamma,

"So, what's your plan now? Are you going to keep running or what?"

Gundamma hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say.

"I... I don't know," he finally admitted.

"All I know is that I can't go back to them. I need to find a new purpose, a new way to live."

The group fell silent for a moment, contemplating Gundamma's words. Finally, Lilitha spoke up.

"Well, you're welcome to stay with us for as long as you like," she said.

"We could always use an extra hand around here."

Gundamma felt a warmth in his chest at her words, and he couldn't help but smile. Maybe, just maybe, he had finally found a place where he could belong.

Gundamma thanked Lilitha for her offers of companionship and aid, but ultimately rejected her invitation to join them on their quest to kill the Demon Lord.

He knew that working with them could lead to his dream coming true, but he couldn't bring himself to trust them completely.

Curious about their destination, Gundamma asked where Orin and his party were headed. Lilitha excitedly replied that they were headed to the Moonshadow Range, a massive mountain that was said to be sacred to a wolf species. Gundamma's eyes flicked towards Zarr at the mention of wolves.

Gundamma warned them that the Moonshadow Range was guarded by an ancient wolf clan, and that it might not be wise to venture there. Lilitha and the others were undeterred, however, and insisted that they would find a way to overcome any obstacles.

As they parted ways, Gundamma couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that the road ahead would be dangerous, and he wondered if he had made the right choice in rejecting Lilitha's offer. Only time would tell if he would regret his decision.

The Moonshadow Range is a majestic mountain range that extends as far as the eye can see. The peaks of the mountains are covered in snow, which glows in the moonlight, giving the range its name. The mountain range is so large that it's difficult to see the end of it, even from the highest peaks.

The mountain range is surrounded by lush forests that are home to many different types of wildlife. The forests are so thick that they're almost impenetrable, except for a few well-worn paths that wind their way through the trees.

As one climbs higher up the mountains, the air becomes colder and thinner. The trees give way to rocky outcroppings, and the snow becomes deeper and more treacherous. But despite the harsh environment, the Moonshadow Range is also home to many hidden wonders, such as hot springs and caves filled with sparkling crystals.

At the very top of the tallest mountain in the range, there's a lookout point that offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. From this vantage point, one can see for miles in every direction, with the glittering peaks of other mountain ranges in the distance.

Overall, the Moonshadow Range is a place of great beauty and mystery, a place where one can easily lose themselves in the natural wonder of the world.

As they walked towards the Moonshadow Range, Lilitha couldn't help but ask Orin about the ancient wolf clan that guarded the sacred place.

"Orin, what can you tell us about the ancient wolf clan that guards the Moonshadow Range?" Lilitha asked with curiosity.

Orin smiled and replied,

"The ancient wolf clan is a pack of wolves that have lived in the Moonshadow Range for generations. They have a long and rich history that dates back centuries. The clan is said to be descendants of a great battle wolf who could wield magic."

Ein then looked at Zarr, who was walking by his side, and said,

"That's interesting. I know a bit about that wolf species. They're highly revered by their kind."

Orin nodded in agreement and continued,

"Yes, that's true. The clan is highly respected by other wolf species, and they're known to have powerful magic abilities."

"They've been guarding the Moonshadow Range for centuries, and it's said that they have the power to control the elements in the area."

Lilitha's eyes widened in amazement.

"Wow, that's incredible! I can't wait to meet them!"

Ein looked a bit hesitant.

"I hope they won't see us as a threat," he said.

Orin reassured him,

"Don't worry. They're known to be very wise and just. If we approach them with respect and honor, they'll see that we mean them no harm."

Zarr, who was usually energetic and playful, seemed to be more subdued as they approached the Moonshadow Range. His ears were perked up and his nose was working overtime, sniffing the air as if he was trying to pick up something specific.

As they got closer to the Moonshadow Range, the scenery changed dramatically. The lush green forests and rolling hills were replaced by towering mountains that seemed to stretch on forever. The air grew colder and the wind picked up, causing the group to huddle closer together for warmth.

The mountains themselves were an incredible sight to behold. The peaks were covered in snow and ice, sparkling in the sunlight like diamonds. The valleys were shrouded in mist, adding an air of mystery and intrigue to the already breath-taking landscape.

Despite the beauty of their surroundings, the group couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. The ancient wolf clan was known for their stealth and cunning, and it was clear that they were being closely monitored as they made their way towards the clan's territory.
