Rex sat in front of the bar counter gulping down his third glass of vodka, his mind was muddled, he was far away from the club's activity. He was battling seriously with his thoughts.
Alya had woken up, he was happy, very happy. At the realisation of his happiness, he felt a hot burn in his chest. A very large cloud of sadness loom over the happiness he was feeling before.
He was heartbroken
Devastated
Shattered
He was angry!
Angry because he was partially the cause of her accident
Angry because he stood doing nothing as she was ran over by an incoming car
He was really mad at himself
That night had been his most horrible night ever. He had watched her lay on the smooth tarred road motionless covered in her own blood. The memory was still as fresh like it was yesterday. It flashed through his mind and he growled at the bitterness he felt.
She was soaked in red liquid which clearly belongs to her
He squatted down on his knees before her looking daze, his trembling hands had reached to shook her softly.
"Momma?" He called in a dry voice, his lips were shaking like withering leaves.
"Leah?" He shook her again, his hand swept over her bloodied face and moved her hair reaching for her pulse.
It was so faint!
That was it
Rex felt all his blood drain down immediately, his face lost its colour. He screamed in terror, picked her off the ground and ran. His disheveled mind had forgotten to take a car but had dashed onto the road with his long legs in a wild run. He threw all restrictions in the air and ran like the wind itself.
He had watched her wheeled to the operation room. He had sat beside watching her. She laid motionless with tubes fixed all over her body, her skin had turned porcelain white like corpse.
He was taunted with all those images.
He picked up his fourth glass of alcohol that night and gulped it all down. A burning sensation followed and he staggered up his seat, four glasses of vodka and he had gone stubbornly drunk.
His head rammed really hard as he made his way out of the bar, he got to his car fiddled with the lock and sped off hitting the highway with a wild speed.
In a very excited mood, April ran the last step to Alya's ward and opened the door.
There was her best friend fast asleep with one arm over her eye shielding her from the lights.
"Alya" She breathed out, a big smile played on her lips immediately. She gently closed the door and moved to her side. Carefully, she patted her brown hair examining her.
She took out her phone and called landon.
"Hey babe" He said
"Are you busy?" April asked
"No, why?"
"Come meet me at royals"
"Don't stress yourself, tell me what you want to buy and I'll get it for you" Landon said and she smiled sweetly.
"You won't easily find what I am looking for, it's for Alya"
"She is awake" She added.
"What?!" Landon half yelled over the phone before he hung up.
April smiled and patted Alya's hair again
"Everyone misses you so much" She muttered
"So fucking much" She added before going out of the ward putting off the lights.
"Just tell me you made that up please" Landon said
April sighed, it was the umpteenth time she was answering that question since she met with landon.
She blinked her eyes wide open and stared at him with the expression 'believe if you want to, I don't care'.
She walked further into the mall to the restaurant.
" Hey darling April" A middle aged chef called
"Hi Aunt meena"
"How are you doing? "
'It's been long I saw you and Alya, how is she?"
"We are both fine aunt"
"I came to get her favorite"
"Oh well well"
"Chong" Aunt meena called and a slender young man came running out of the larg.
"Give her whatever she wants for free"
"Oh aunt, no thank you"
"I insist April" She said a bit sternly, April smiled at her and bowed
"Thank you aunt"
April walked out of the kitchen and went to meet Landon
"Let's go"
"This was all you wanted and you can't ask me to get it for you?" Landon questioned.
"You won't be able to buy it" She said walking away
"I won't be able to buy it?" Landon thought then ran up to her
"Did you mean I won't be able to buy it because I don't have the money or I am too careless to get exactly what you want?"
April sighed, landon always has his way of interpreting things.
"No I meant they won't sell it to you" "Why?" Landon questioned again
April shook her head slightly out of frustration
"This dish is rarely prepared, only those who order it some days before do get"
"Me and Alya are a regular visitor here for this meal that's why I am able to buy"
Landon scoffed.
"I can get that if I pay a nice amount"
"You are kidding yourself"
"You wanna see me try?" He asked
"Wait.. " April breathed out, he had long gone before she could stop him, he was only going to get himself drawn to public.
She couldn't hear what was going on between those huge doors of tbe kitchen from such a distance. Slowly, she moved her feet to the kitchen. The door was flung open violently barely missing April's face.
She gasped at the amount of money sprawled on the ground she stared at the black leather shoe in front of her and she trailed her eyes to the owner of those pair of shoes
It earn a few choking from April to be able to suppress the urge to laugh, her face turned bright red with puffed cheek and she gave way, her laughter echoed deep in landon's eardrum.
He was covered with white powder with an egg sliding down the outline of his cheek bone, there was frost on his hair and April only burst out laughing more.
Landon rolled his eyes at her and walked away cursing under his breath, April ran after him as his steps were larger compared to hers.
"C'mon darling, tell me what happened in there, I can't see your paper bag with you" April pestered.
"It's better we don't talk about it" Landon said earning a chuckle from April.
"Oh please, I am starving, aren't you going to buy for me?" April teased again pouting her lips like a baby
"And why do you smell like cake, vanilla more?" April asked again really amused
The stares they were receiving from the mall was quite alarming.
" Oh landon, is that a chocolate on your cheek, I want to taste it"
There was a clear tinge of mock in her voice. This is what happen to really stubborn people who think money can buy everything. She grinned widely when Landon glared at her.
"What?!"
