Chapter 35 - Grand Appraiser Lin

After Tang Yin left the Nie Gambling Den, he went back to the inn. He had not gone straight to the auction hall from the beginning because mortals and most cultivators were prohibited from going inside unless there was an auction. Tang Yin did not want to go there just to find out a few pieces of information which were available to the public, which was why he visited a disciple of the Nie family. The Nie Family disciple was much closer compared to the auction hall.

2 weeks passed by quietly for Tang Yin, this was not the case for Maple Leaf City though. The disappearance of 100+ cultivators in the Demonic Beast Mountain range had attracted lots of attention. The investigation of the various families was still ongoing.

Tang Yin knew the Maple Leaf City very well, he had lived here his whole life. Before long he had arrived at the colossal auction site. The auction hall was very big, its size could rival the Maple Leaf Library. The auction hall had 3 floors; Tang Yin knew the first floor was for cultivators with little to no background but possessed a ticket to attend the auction. The second floor was for people from small families, the inn he was currently staying at belonged to the small Liu family. If cultivators from the Liu family attended the auction, they would have access to the second floor.

The third floor was not as big as the first 2 floors, but the only people allowed access to the third floor were people from the Shan and Mo family. Along with the Shan and Mo family, cultivators from the local sects around Maple Leaf City also reserved a room on the third floor. Other special people with VIP cards could also have their private rooms on the third floor.

The auction hall was very massive, but it was still bustling. This was expected though, today was the big day of the auction. Most of the families within Maple Leaf City and local sects from outside the city were participating.

Tang Yin walked forward towards the entrance of the auction hall. There were 3 large gates of the same size, each gate represented a different floor. The gate to the first floor had a very large queue, there were also a few Nie family disciples stationed at the gate to oversee things and prevent conflicts.

There were 4 people queueing outside the second gate, they all had expensive robes and an arrogant air. Three of them were men and one was a woman. There was no one queued up behind the gate of the third floor. Only a disciple of the Nie family was stationed at the gate to welcome anyone who came.

Tang Yin moved and queued up behind the 4 people, his ticket was from the female cultivator who was from a big family. Therefore, she would have a ticket for the second floor.

When Tang Yin queued behind the second gate, he attracted a lot of gazes from the people queuing up for the first gate and even the 4 people before him.

"Say, what family do you think that black-cloaked person comes from?" An average-looking cultivator dressed in blue robes at the 7th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm asked his companion. There were similar whispers from the other people in the queue as well.

The 4 people in front of Tang Yin only looked at him once before averting their gaze. Tang Yin was wrapped up in his black cloak and mask, no one could identify him.

Tang Yin did not wait in the queue, he went past the 4 people in front of him straight towards the Nie family disciple standing before the second-floor gate. He once again attracted everyone's attention.

"I have an item I would like to auction, is your auction hall still accepting items?" Tang Yin calmly asked under the gaze of several people. "The auction has not started yet, if your item is of high value, we can squeeze it in." The Nie Family disciple replied with an earnest tone. "It is of high value." "Alright follow me." Tang Yin and the Nie family disciple exchanged a few more words before Tang Yin followed him inside the gate.

"Where are we going?" Tang Yin questioned the disciple. "I'm taking you to Grand Appraiser Lin, he will determine the value of your item." The disciple explained to confirm Tang Yin's speculation.

Tang Yin and the disciple turned many corners and corridors before arriving at a luxurious door. "Grand Appraiser Lin, I wonder if you have time to appraise one last item?" the disciple wrapped his fist in his palm towards the door and respectfully asked. 'It looks like this Grand Appraiser Lin has a high status in the Nie family.' Tang Yin thought to himself.

"This old man has time, enter." A hoarse voice seeped through the door and sounded in Tang Yin and the disciple's ear. The disciple swiftly opened the door and entered; Tang Yin followed behind.

The room was quite big, there were large pillars on either side of the room, and below each pillar were expensive-looking decorations such as a vase, a cauldron etc. In the middle of the room were 5 chairs with many patterns carved into them. The chairs surrounded a large marble table. An old man was seated on one of the chairs.

The disciple did not sit down but stood to the side, Tang Yin went ahead and sat down opposite the old man. When he looked into the old man's eyes, he could see the vicissitudes of life within.

"What's the item that you would like to auction?" The old man cut straight to the chase without any pleasantries. Tang Yin did not delay, he brought out a jade box and opened it. Inside was the Spirit Adaption Pill, a faint medicinal fragrance filled the air.

"A Spirit Adaption Pill" Grand Appraiser Lin remarked, clearly, he had seen this pill before. Grand Appraiser Lin activated his Martial Spirit and a golden monocle appeared on his left eye, it shone with 8 white halos. It was a Tier 8 Golden Monocle Martial Spirit.

"It's not fake, but the pill is of common quality. It can be added to the auction with a starting price of 20 Low-grade Spirit Stones. What do you think?" Grand Appraiser Lin deactivated his Martial Spirit, looked towards Tang Yin and asked for his opinion.

"That's fine by me." Tang Yin casually replied. He did not know the exact value of the medicinal pill so any price that did not seem too low was fine with him.
