I stayed up most of the night beside Richard, only occasionally getting up from where I was sitting to wash my face with cold water.
Every hour or so, I would feel his forehead and make sure his fever had subsided before I washed part of him with a warm towel (I still had the sense not to take off his trousers for my own good) to clean him.
"Phew, finally his fever is gone," I said while sighing softly when I finished compressing my boyfriend's forehead, who was now asleep with his calm face that seemed to tell me he was feeling better than before. "Seeing you sleeping soundly feels like it was worth the hard work I did earlier, so thank you for giving me the chance to take care of you today."
I directed my lips to his forehead, which still left the compressed water, and kissed his forehead slowly, then stroked his hair, enjoying every time my hand touched his hair which felt so soothing.
