My attention immediately turned to Vera, my manager, who was the source of all my problems with Richard and the main reason I had avoided my boyfriend so far.
She looked so relaxed, enjoying the chicken and garlic-flavored potato chips that had been in her hand for some time as she strolled into the break room.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, rolling my eyes lazily.
"Do I need a reason to come to my own place?"
I frowned for a moment, making a face as if I were thinking about what she said, before I shook my head briefly.
"Well, whatever the reason, I don't care."
"Your answers are as indifferent as ever."
"Is there a problem with my answer just now?"
To which she only responded with a gentle shake of her head as she motioned for me to give her space to sit on the sofa that I had planned to use for myself if it weren't for this one annoying insect.
