So was this the real reason Richard invited me to come to his place after work when we had lunch together at the convenience store near the office?
"Well, as you can see..." he said, rubbing the nape of his neck while putting on his clumsy face. "I'm actually really embarrassed at the thought of asking you to do this, but I can't go on like this. You certainly understand what I'm saying, don't you?"
"About you not being able to cook?"
He answered with a slow nod, along with a pseudo-red that filled his entire face and neck, telling me that this was the most embarrassing thing he had ever admitted in front of others.
"That's why... Will you take over my kitchen and cook for me starting today?"
I raised the corners of my lips, staring at the messy kitchen as if a fierce battle had just taken place.
