Chapter 29
Damsell in distress
After getting aclimated to his new enviroment, Siegfried decided to restart his phisical training.
There is one single place in the academy for martial training since a few Magus families still practice them.
The place is called 'the arena' and it also serves as a dueling platform for those who wish to duel, since fights betwwen studnets if forbidden otherwise and it could lead to expulsion.
It is next to the 'Tower of War', the colliseum like tower where the magical combat classes take place.
The arena is quite big for the few people that come to the place. It has an oval shape, there is an area with practice weapons that anyone can borrow and many practice dummies. At the center of the arena, there is a big dueling platform.
Siegfried came very early in the morning, before classes started. He didnt expected to find anyone in the place at this hour, so it was a surprise to find not one, but two of his classmates.
Hilda Vance was wildly swingin her axe at a training dummy. While Iris Castel was stanting in front of another dummy some distance away, but she wasnt moving, just staring at it, like she focusing on somering.
Siegfried walked to training weapon deposit and picked up a long spear, when he was coming back, looking for a training dummy to use, he was called by Hilda.
"Oi! Lancaster. You didnt get lost, didnt you?. This place is to train your muscles!" Hilda laughed and flexed her biceps for him to see. She was wearing some light training clothes instead of the white robes.
"No, I did not get lost, Vance. I also like to do some phisical training." Answered Siegfried.
"But…your family doesnt practice any martial skill, right?" Hilda asked.
"No, they are a very clasical Magus family. This is something I decided to do"
Hilda rose an eyebrow. "Really?, so you are not one of those who think that martial skills are beneath a Magus?"
Siegfried smiled. "Of course not. I think that combining both disciplines is the right way forward."
Hilda chuckled. "Thats not a popular opinion. Well, go ahead and do your training, you will see me here often. And probably that sorty over there" She pointed at Iris, who was now hitting the dummy with a practice sword.

Siegfried was walking tought the academy fields alone at night. After the classes were over, he decided to get go back to the arena and get some more training before getting back to his room and meditate, after all, they did not have more classes that week.
First years students have classes four days a week, leaving them three days in witch they were expected to do some self study.
From second year and onward, students only have clases three days a week. For the road of a Magus, getting used to do self study and self improvement is consider a crucial skill.
"I really lost track of time. Is very late already." Siegfried realized.
There were no more students around the campus and the place was eerely quiet.
"I said no!" The loud shout of a young female broke the silence and caugh Siegfried attention.
He followed the sound of the voice until he spoted three people arguin at one of the many sitting areas of the campus.
That night was of full moon, so it wanst comepletly dark. Even at some distance, Siegfried was able to see plenty of details about the three students.
They were two boys cornering a girl, who had her back against a big tree and was looking at them with anger in her face.
They all wore vermilion robes with no decorations on the sleves, signaling that they were first year students from the high-class.
"Look." One of the boys said. "Lord Avery only wants to speak with you."
"Yeah, just come with us!" The other boy added.
"You think im stupid?!. I know what He wants!. Avery has been harassing me since my first day here!" The girl shouted.
The boys looked at each other.
"He ordered us to bring you to his room, by any means necessary." The boy said in a menacing way.
"Lord Avery is a senior from the elite-class. Just do what he sais. Otherwise your life will become very difficult here." The other boy said.
"Neither of you have any right to order me around!. No matter the noble rank, we are all the same here." The girl still looked angry, but there was a hint of fear now
The boys chuckled.
"Are you stupid?, thats just the bullshit tha the academy sais. Noble ranks will always matter!"
"You better come with us peacefully. Or we will have to use force." The boys pulled out their wands and pinted them at the girl.
Siegfried considered that he has observed enought of the situation to understand what is going on and decided to interviene.
He got out from behind the tree that he was using as cover and ran to the two boys.
"Whos there?" One of them said after hearing steepts aproaching fast.
The other one looked around the dark forest, trying to find the intruder.
"There!" He spoted Siegfried when he was only a few feet away.
The boy pointed his wand at Siegfried and prepared to cast a spell, but he was too slow and before the boy could even utter a single word, Siegfried was in front of him.
"Ah!" The boy recived a punch to the face strong enought to breake his nose with a loud crack.
He then fell down and started whining in pain.
The other boy stood in shock, not sure what to do. It was obvious to any observer that neither of them had any expecience fighting or casting spells under pressure, so they were easy prey to someone like Siegfried.
With another punch, the second boy went down.
The girl yelped in surprise and looked at the one who helped her. Siegfried was wearing his training clothes instead of his usual white robes, so she had no idea what kind of student he was.
"Who are you?" she asked with worry.
