Chapter 27 - Roselyn’s curiosity

"Let's go," William said as he threw a set of clothes in Veronica's direction and started putting his clothes on. At that time, both of them were naked and things were pretty cool between them. Veronica was comfortable being naked around him while William didn't care about it as he had lived for too long to behave shyly around a woman.

While William was getting dressed, Veronica's eyes remained fixated on him. Her attention was caught by something peculiar on his body. She approached him from behind and looked closely at the words tattooed under his neck.

"What is this?'' Veronica touched William's back and looked at the mysterious words that seemed to be written in some kind of ancient language that she never read or seen before. They looked more like ancient inscriptions.

"It's the ancient language of Gods. These inscriptions are of the title that was given to me in the past," William said.

"Do Gods exist?" She curiously asked in response.

"Who knows? Maybe," William chuckled as he flicked his finger on her forehead and looked at her from top to bottom before continuing," Just get dressed and join me in Roselyn's room, for now. I'll go and say hi to her. She might still be worried about the last night's incident,"

After calmly conveying his intentions, William left the room instantly, leaving a dazed Veronica standing there naked. After he left, Veronica rubbed her forehead and took a deep breath as she shook her head.

"Ancient language of Gods, huh?" She mumbled to herself and started to get dressed.

Meanwhile, William was on his way to Roselyn's room. It was a few meters away from the room where he was staying. After walking for a few moments, William reached Roselyn's room and slightly pushed the door to take a peek inside.

"Hey kiddo, can I come inside?" Willam asked as he looked at the cute little girl who was sitting on the bed with half-opened eyes. The moment she heard a familiar voice, her eyes gleamed with a different glow as she tilted her head to look at Willam.

"William..." She cried out loud and jumped at him from her bed. William smiled as he entered her room and caught her in his arms.

"You are still here, I thought you left. I was worried about you last night when those people started making a ruckus outside again. I thought they were going to hurt you. I am glad that you are safe and nothing bad happened to you," She muttered to him while snuggling him.

"Don't worry about those people. I gave them a good beating. They are not going to show up again," William smirked as he caressed Roselyn's hair and responded to her.

Roselyn was surprised when she heard those words. She raised her head and looked at him.

"Are you sure they are not going to come here again? Those are very bad people. Whenever they show themselves, my mom becomes tense and sad," She said to him.

Willam nodded his head, walked to her bed, and took a seat while she held on to him like a baby monkey.

"Yes, I am pretty sure that they are not going to show themselves again. I sent them somewhere far away. From now on, you and your mother can live without any fear, there is no need to be scared of anyone." William ruffled Roselyn's hair as he responded to her. He knew how scared she was last night when the assassins started making a ruckus in front of the hotel. They didn't even stop there and started throwing rocks at the hotel. What disgusted him the most was that those assassins even wanted to kill Roselyn along with Veronica.

"You are the best. I am happy that you didn't leave and decided to stay here. I am happy now that I am going to hear all those interesting stories from you and get to know everything about vampires," She said cutely. Upon listening to her soothing voice, William chuckled and looked at her curiously.

"Are you interested in vampires?" He asked.

"I am," She replied before continuing, "They are very interesting creatures. I want to learn everything about them. I am happy because you know lots of things about those creatures. I am looking forward to hearing more of your stories," She said with an innocent smile.

"Creatures, huh..." A bittersweet smile appeared on William's face when he heard her calling vampires creatures. He never thought that one day, vampires will become mere legends and bedtime stories for kids, but he was still happy to know that there were records of vampires. There was still hope for him to uncover the truth about what happened when he was in slumber and how he ended up waking up in this unknown place.

"Is something wrong, William?" Roselyn asked when she saw him stuck in a daze.

"Ahh, it's nothing, Roselyn. I was just thinking of going outside and wandering around the city. I wanted to know how big this city is," He replied with a smile but it disappeared instantly when he heard something and turned his head in a different direction.
