It's Magic Class again, and our muscle-bound teacher is still not here. What is he doing? Is he trying to flirt with Ms. Tiara? Or is he gawking at the latest marvelous creation of the Magic Department, or is he so sick with diarrhea that he has to go to the bathroom every three minutes? Who knows?
Since I have nothing better to do, and all my friends from Kara to Neloufa are reading from their books, I look outside. I tried to talk to Mara, but she's revising some magic circle theory with Kara and Marianne. Afnan, Tio and Neloufa are also discussing today's topic. They're all serious. Well, there's a test coming up, but I didn't feel like studying. My grades aren't the best, but they aren't the worst either, although Nar, Sas, Head Maid Mahsuri and Teacher Ledang have promised to treat me if I get a good grade in the upcoming big exam...
I start to open the book. Definitely not because I wanted to go to the cake shop and buy a whole cake for myself if I got a good result. This is school, after all, and school is a place to learn. Yes, definitely because of the cake, the sweet, creamy cake, the sweet, creamy, flavorful cake. Yes! For the cake... For learning!
Nar, Sas, and Master Merlin have all said that my foundation is already solid, but I suppose there's no harm in starting from scratch.
Magic. It's the result of exploiting a mana to take various effects, be it from self-benefit, such as strengthening a power or releasing it in a physical form, or even transferring it to cause beneficial effect like healing or harm like confusion to others.
Every living being in this world can generate mana, a form of energy that is expended from one's own body. The theory is that there's a special organ, or maybe there's a special cell in the body that produces it. Whatever it is, it can only produce neutral mana, which everyone and every single being can use without exception.
Neutral Mana has the most uses. It can be used to increase a physical power, like how Nar uses aura to get godly physical power, or how Randy activates his berserker. It can also be used to heal, though not as well as other elements that have healing properties. It can even be used to hypnotize others like a mirage spell. Basically, in theory, Neutral Mana can be used to cast any spell.
To get a better effect, neutral mana needs to be converted into a specific element. For example, neutral mana can produce heat, but to get better heat or fire, you can simply convert it to fire mana and use fire spells. If you want better healing power, convert it to light, water, or plant magic. If you want to further increase your physical strength or create a debuff for your enemies, Mirage Magic will work best. Want to control time? Time Magic, a higher level of Dark Magic, will surely be the best. If you want to teleport, use Space Magic. Basically, convert any neutral mana you have into that specific element.
However, only people from Aru Village can use all of these elements freely. Most other people, no, none other than those from Aru Village, can use all the elements. The first theory I mentioned, regarding a special cell in each living being, while it can definitely produce neutral mana for everyone, it can only convert that mana into a specific element depending on each person. The best example is like making water. The people of Aru Village have all the ingredients in the world to make any drink they want, from plain water to chocolate water. Imagination is their limit, while others only get limited number of ingredients, so they can only use few different elements.
Of course, there are exceptions to everything. There's a recorded person outside of Aru Village who can use all magic so sparingly, perhaps less than twenty in all of recorded history. There are also records of slime that can freely use all magic, and just recently, Fie became an absolute hot topic, a previously thought extinct species that turned out not to be, and is the first known elemental cat that can use all elements of mana, courtesy of me.
As I turn the pages and begin to read the next chapter, instead of the muscle teacher, it is Master Merlin who enters the classroom.
"All right, I'll take your class for today" [Merlin].
"Is the muscle man's heart broken because Ms. Tiara turned down his request for a date?" [Diana]
"Such is life" [Merlin]
(Teacher Merlin didn't denied it!) [All]
