Calian and Zelma soon realized that Sir Puffy Mittens knew there was someone inside the Roomba. Despite their best efforts, the cat continued to be fascinated by the device and would not leave it alone.
They began to notice that Sir Puffy Mittens would stare intently at the Roomba, as if trying to communicate with the consciousness inside. Lirien, still trapped in the Roomba, could sense the cat's presence and would sometimes move in response to his meows.
Calian and Zelma couldn't help but wonder if the cat somehow knew that Lirien was inside the Roomba. They decided to run an experiment, they put the Roomba in a room and closed the door, leaving Sir Puffy Mittens outside. The cat became restless, meowing and scratching at the door, but as soon as they opened the door and the Roomba was activated, Sir Puffy Mittens immediately calmed down and went back to following it around the house.
As the chapter ends, Calian and Zelma are still struggling to find a way to transfer Lirien's consciousness back into a human body, but they are also beginning to see Sir Puffy Mittens as a potential ally in their quest. They are not sure how, but they are certain that the cat knows something about Lirien's condition, and they are determined to figure out a way to use that knowledge to help her.
