"Theo!" I screamed as I watched his horse veer off in a different direction without its master to guide it.
I grabbed onto the window, about to poke my head out to look for Theo, but Luca appeared suddenly on Storm, pushing me back inside. He ducked in time just as another flurry of arrows went by his head.
"Luca!"
"Stay down!" he yelled as he struggled to control Storm's speed alongside the moving carriage and calm the terrified beast down at the same time. "Keep moving fast! Don't stop for anything! We'll try to fight them off!" Luca yelled to the carriage driver.
Then he turned back to me. Our eyes met, our gazes panicked and desperate. "I'll be back," he said through clenched teeth before pulling on Storm's reins so he could rejoin the fight behind us.
"No! Luca!" I stood up as soon as he disappeared, immediately tripping down to the floor as the carriage wheels went over a bump in the road. Still, it continued moving forward at a high speed.
