Elliot and Louis bowed and left the room, closing the door behind them.
I turned to see Luca staring at me, his forehead creasing slightly in deep thought, although his face was unreadable. "What?" I asked.
He averted his gaze. "Nothing."
He remained quiet as I helped him to the adjoining bathroom. I made him sit on a stool and carefully peeled off his filthy clothes, using water to soften the parts that had stuck to his skin. I didn't want to rip them off, afraid of opening a wound I couldn't see.
I noticed him clenching his teeth, trying to hide his pain, when he raised his arms as I pulled his tunic off. He made the same expression when I pulled off his pants. I tossed his filthy clothes near the floor drain, planning to throw them away later.
Luca touched my arm. "I don't want you to get your dress wet. I can do this by myself," he said quietly, without looking at me.
