"Ready? One, two, three, heave!"
Grabbing the heavy patchwork quilt on opposite ends, which was extra heavy because of its wetness, we heaved the freshly washed bed cover over a pile of huge rocks to dry in the sun.
"Alright, time to take a break," I announced.
Lena was breathing hard with effort, and she looked like she needed the rest. We had just finished washing all the sheets I found in the cabin.
Why all of them, you might ask? It was more logical to wash a few pieces that we needed for our temporary stay here. I didn't know what came over me when I just grabbed all of them, which, I now realize, was unnecessary. It's not like we'd be staying here forever.
I glanced at Lena, who had collapsed onto a patch in the meadow and lay on the moss, wiping the sweat from her face with her oversized shirt. I should've dissuaded her from helping me.
