Chapter 17 - Party Crashers

''I am going to kill you after this! '' Mia's scream still echoed as she plummeted down, her stomach lurching with each passing second.

Marianne was laughing at Mia's dilemma; she is holding Abdul Jawad's body under her, refusing to let him escape, even in the midst of freefall. The wind rushed past, whipping her hair into a frenzy as she struggled to right herself.

Below, the city streets rushed up to meet them with alarming speed.

Mia's training kicked in, and she maneuvered her body to shield the man she pulled with from the impact.

They hit the trash hard, the shockwave coursing through Mia's bones.

Dazed, Mia assessed their situation.

They had landed on a narrow alleyway, the walls looming above them like sentinels.

Abdul Jawad stirred, groaning, as Mia swiftly assessed his condition.

"Marianne!" Mia shouted, scanning the area for any sign of her partner.

''I'm here.'' A shallow voice of Marianne only made her hand visible; her body was deeply dunk on the other trash tank, which made Mia laugh hard at her partner's comical predicament.

''Well, at least we know you're alive," Mia said with a smirk, extending a hand to help Marianne out of the trash.

"Status?" Marianne asked, her eyes scanning the area.

"Abdul Jawad's alive. We need to get him to a safehouse, pronto," Mia replied, already dragging the unconscious man toward the alley's entrance.

''Good.'' Marianne nodded, taking point as they navigated the winding alleys.

''What are you doing ? '' Marianne asked Mia; she saw that Mia was about to go back to get the man who tortured her earlier.

''For god sake, Mia, leave him; you're going to compromise our true mission," Marianne hissed, grabbing Mia's arm to stop her. "We can't risk it." Mia hesitated, torn between her desire for revenge and the need to prioritize their safety. "Fine," she finally relented, turning away from the man's unconscious form and following Marianne down the alleyway.

They moved swiftly, avoiding detection by the organization's agents and local law enforcement.

Finally, they reached the prearranged safehouse, a nondescript building in the city's seedy underbelly. Inside, a makeshift medical setup awaited, courtesy of their local contact, Dr. Zara Saeed.

As Dr. Saeed tended to Abdul Jawad's injuries, Marianne briefed Dr. Saeed on their captive's significance. "Abdul Jawad, a former CIA and Org member, has access to high-level government connections. He's the key to unraveling 'The Bridge' conspiracy," Mia explained.

Mia's eyes narrowed. "And what's the plan for extracting information?" Marianne smiled grimly.

"Leave that to me." With Dr. Saeed's assistance, Mia began the delicate process of interrogating Abdul Jawad.

Marianne was watching Mia's way of interrogating their hostage when she noticed something odd in Dr. Saeed's behavior . His eyes flickered with recognition as he observed Abdul Jawad closely, hinting at a hidden connection between the two. Marianne quickly approached Mia and whispered, ''We've been compromised!"

Dr. Saeed grabbed her emergency bag while Mia and Marianne were talking.

''What ? What do you mean? '' Mia whispered.

Marianne shot the doctor before it got away.

''Why the fuck did you that? Now who is going to help us? '' Mia asked in a rising voice.

Abdul scream was muffled. Mia's cutter was attached to his skin while Mia was talking to Marianne, blood dripping on the floor.

''Oh , I am sorry. Did I hurt you? .'' Mia apologetically said to Abdul as if she didn't do it on purpose.

''She's a snitch,'' Marianne replied coldly, pointing at Abdul. Mia's eyes widened in shock as she realized they had been betrayed. "We need to get out of here before it's too late."

After saying that they hear footsteps in the direction, with that they quickly dragged Abdul before those men could catch up to them. Abdul's muffled screams echoed through the hallway as they made their escape, leaving a trail of blood behind them.

Gunshots started to ring out, causing Mia and Marianne to run faster towards the exit. They knew they were in grave danger and needed to find a way to safety as soon as possible.

They found the exit, but it turns out it's a dead end. They hear faint noise, and following the noise, they see an open window leading outside, but there's a problem.

''I think we're going to crash a party '' And that party was ruined by jumping out of the window. Mia and Marianne exchanged a nervous glance before deciding to take their chances and leap out, hoping for a safe landing.

Tu ke Mori by Khaled Kayham was playing on the back, and everything went chaotic as the men that were chasing them followed them in jumping at the party gunshots.

The chaos escalated as the men chasing them also jumped out of the window, causing a commotion at the party.

Mia stopped. '' I'm tired of running.'' She kicked Abdul, making him fall to the ground. She and Marianne looked at each other and opened the bag they snatched from the doctor earlier and saw guns in it.

''So that's why it's heavy.'' Marianne exclaimed.

Time to get this party started!" Mia exclaimed, loading her pistol as the music began to blast—a pulsating electronic dance track.

"Bring it on, baddies!" Marianne chimed in, cocking her shotgun.

"I'm ready to paint the town red...with your blood!" The two friends, back-to-back, faced the horde of enemies emerging from the abandoned warehouse. Mia took aim, her eyes scanning the crowd.

"Five o'clock, Marianne! Take out the tall guy!" Marianne spun around, shotgun blazing.

"Boom! Headshot, baby!" The tall guy's hat flew off, and he crumpled to the ground.

Mia expertly picked off two more enemies with swift headshots.

"Two down, twenty to go!" "Not if I have anything to say about it!" Marianne quipped, unleashing a barrage of shotgun shells.

Enemies scrambled for cover as the blast ripped through crates and debris. As the music reached its crescendo, Mia and Marianne moved in perfect sync. They dodged and weaved, their guns firing in tandem.

"Dance, baddies, dance!" Mia sang along, taking out three more enemies with precision shots. "You're making this too easy, Mia!" Marianne complained, mock-pouting.

"Can I get some challenging targets, please?" Mia chuckled .

''Sorry, Marianne!! You're just too good! "Just then, a particularly aggressive enemy charged towards them.

Marianne grinned mischievously.

"Oh, look! A volunteer!" She blasted the enemy with her shotgun, sending him flying into a stack of crates.

As the music approached its final beat, Mia and Marianne made their move.

With a flurry of bullet-fast shots, they cleared the remaining enemies.

"And...scene!" Mia exclaimed as the music ended and the last enemy fell. Marianne high-fived Mia.

"That was epic! We make an unstoppable team!" Mia grinned.

"Time to go home; I'm fucking tired! That was one lucrative dance party!"

Together, they walked away from the party venue, guns still smoking, as the sound of sirens echoed in the distance. How's that? Would you like any adjustments?
