The 'Gao Chen' that I had been talking to was my imagination given physical shape, but as a child I wasn't aware of what it was.
I just thought that I had managed to pretend well enough that I no longer felt so alone.
That night, I laid in my bed and read through 'Qiang the Round Bear' alongside 'Gao Chen', who provided believable commentary for the book as well.
See, at that point she had been slightly arrogant, but still rather entertaining and childish, so I would giggle beside her as she made fun of certain things or brag about herself; to me, that was what Gao Chen was, and I liked that about her.
She was everything that I wasn't, and I was proud of that fact.
We were friends, and I was just proud that such an amazing girl was my friend!
So, as we read the book for the first time, I giggled as she haughtily said she would never allow the other bears to make fun of herself or me, claiming she would use 'just a single swipe of her paw' to dissuade everyone.
