Beep~ Beep~ Beep~. The sound of an alarm rang loudly in a large fancy room that screamed money. A fair hand reached out to the source of the annoying sound. "Just shut up!" She groaned as she proceeded to bash the device repeatedly until she heard a crack. It was then she realised that she did not own an alarm clock and set the alarm on her phone. She quickly examined her phone to find it completely destroyed.
" Shit"
She reluctantly pulled out of bed and dragged herself to the bathroom. She held out a remote and pressed a button, a few seconds later her curtains glided open and sunlight peeked into the room revealing her messy curly hair, dark circles and tired face.
"Ugh! I look like an absolute mess" she complained looking into the mirror. She shut the bathroom door and came out a few minutes later wrapped in a towel with her face no longer looking like a dead person. However it was obvious she still wasn't satisfied with her look.
She walked out of her room dressed in a black pencil skirt that stopped above her knees, long flat golden lace up sandals and a grey crop top.
"Julian!" she called out.
"Yes miss" a young man wearing a butlers suit replied.
" Are mom and dad gone yet?"
"No miss" he said respectively.
Her eyes widened in surprise, that was clearly not the answer she was expecting, she waved her hand gesturing for him to leave. She took a deep breath as she moved towards the dining room.
A giant chandelier hung from the ceiling illuminating the table below. Her father sat at the head of the table with her mom seated on his right side. Both their lips were curled into a frown and they seemed to arguing. They looked more like siblings than a couple with their hazelnut eyes and brown curly hair. The only difference between them was their skin colour as Hazels mom had much darker skin than her dad so it was clear who she took after in that department.
" Morning mom and dad" she greeted with an awkward smile. Their expressions instantly changed to that of joy as they turned to look at their daughter.
' Their ability to switch emotions like nothing's happened amazes me everytime.' she thought.
"Morning dear" they said almost simultaneously. She hesitated a bit before moving to sit at her father's left side as a a servant placed her breakfast infront of her.
"How did you sleep sweetheart?" her mother asked with a sweet smile.
" I slept well mom thanks for asking" she replied. "I broke my phone accidentally though"
"Oh don't worry darling well get you another one" her dad reassured.
After the very short exchange they proceeded to eat in silence, the only sound was the occasional clank made when the cutlery touched the plate. The minutes that passed seemed like hours to Hazel until she finally blurted out.
" Why are you guys still at home today?"
Her parents smiled before answering her question." Why sweetie?" her mother asked. "Can't parents stay at home to eat with their daughter?"
" I..I mean they can" she stuttered " But its weird for you guys, what's going on?"
Her parents glanced at each other before her dad began to talk." Ok this was meant to be a surprise....but you've already figured out something's going on so.."
he paused and plastered on a huge smile. " Your friend Alexander has come back home!"
She froze in shock."What?!"
