" Being black is disgusting" Isabella couldn't get her mind off what her course mate ...Karen said.
Disgusting? she gotta be kidding her
" Isa!" Someone called her and she turned.
" Hey Annie " She rolled her eyes and waited for Annie to join her.
" What's wrong?" Annie blinked her eyes multiple times
" I met Karen today again"
They continued to walk. Annie had sighted a cafe not far from where they were so she took the lead.
" What did she say to you?" She asked raising her eyebrow
She was like ' Being black is disgusting ' " Isabella mimicked Karen and Annie chuckled.
"Not funny" Isa frowned.
" Sorry...you should know her by now, she's not so cool "
Isabella sighed
Annie is her best friend... She's slender and very pretty and quite different from her who's dark skinned. Annie has brown hair and hazel eyes... They met three years ago when Isabella's dad became business partners with Annie's dad.
" Don't listen to her... besides, you her beautiful. Haven't you heard of a saying ' Black is beautiful ' "
Isabella chuckled, she knew Annie was trying to coax her.
They entered the cafe and ordered apple pies
" So what's up? I haven't been around lately" Annie asked. Her mouth was stuffed.
" Boring! I missed you so much"
" I know you would"
" You done with your work?"
" Yeah but my dad insists I joined the marketing team "
Isabella paused and looked at Annie
" Why would he do that?"
" For the future" Annie sighed. She rested her head on her palm while her elbow rested on the table. It is really difficult to convince her father. She was still an undergraduate without any certificate and her dad was already planning on handing over his company to her. She couldn't help but facepalm herself.
Isa smirked... her dad would never do that, knowing how stubborn his only daughter was. She wasn't interested in anything business, it's all about stress.
" Can you come over to my place this weekend? I'm so bored and lonely"
"...." Annie gave her a look.
" What? don't look at me like that... you know how people treat me even if I have lived here all my life. They treat me like we are in the 80's. I can't believe we still have racists in the 21st century "
Annie found her words funny.
" okay, let's see if I can...I will have to get permission to leave" She replied.
Annie lives in the school hostel. Her dad feared that if she lived alone somewhere, she would get kidnapped or injured so he made sure to speak to the school management and his daughter was given a whole room two girls were supposed to share. Though, Annie didn't mind staying with Isa but her dad said it would be double danger since both of them were daughters of powerful business men in country N.
" Thanks...I love you"
" I can't love you less " Annie smiled.

Isabella took a cab home. When she opened the door to her house, she met an unexpected visitor.
" What are you doing here?"
She dropped her bag and sat on the sofa feeling totally exhausted. When she got home earlier, she thought she forgot to lock the door.
" Your dad sent me "
" I told you to hand over my extra key to me"
"....." Barry shook his head and went back into the kitchen. He was cooking before Isa came home and now he's done.
" Sit and let's eat " He put the last piece of cutlery on the dining table.
Barry is Isabella's dad personal assistant. Though, he is a few years older than her. He wore a white vest and silver pants. It was obvious he came directly from work. He's a tall, handsome white man and also a good cook.
" I'm not hungry " Isabella eyed him. Her stomach rumbled and Barry shrugged his shoulders and started eating.
" Hey! you can't just come to my house, cook my food and eat it all by yourself.... it's quite rude "
Barry wasn't bothered about this girl. He had known her all her life. He simply ignored her.
" So you are ignoring me now? " Isabella stood up and walked towards the dinning table. She sat and served herself. Barry smirked
While they were eating, Isa wondered why her dad sent his assistant. Was it so serious it had to involve Barry? She had made sure to do exceptionally well in her studies and not skip any classes. She also didn't get into trouble.
" So..." Barry picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth.
" Your dad told me to drop your car off " Isabella chocked. The man immediately passed her a cup of water.
She widened her eyes in surprise. Her father had told her she won't get any car unless she goes to a driving school. She wasn't expecting him to surprise her.
Barry brought out a card from his pocket...it was a driver's license...an original driver's license with Isabella's name and picture on it.
" OMG! " She said excitedly and stood up.
" Where's my car? "
" You didn't notice when you were coming?" Surely, she saw a red sport car but she didn't think of anything.
" I thought you bought a new car!"
She ran outside with full speed. It was her first car.
When she got outside, she noticed it was a latest version. This was what she had always wished for. Though her dad asked if she wanted a car with a driver but she refused.
" It doesn't even use keys!"
" You like it?" Barry came to stand beside her. He was already dressed in his silver suit and blue tie.
Isabella nodded her head vigorously and Barry couldn't help but smile. He patted her shoulder.
" President Dan specially picked it for you and also asked me to place you on a video call"
She waved her hand
" Maybe later.." She was too excited to make a call
" I'll take my leave...I dropped the license on the table"
" Sure.."
" Excellent choice Mr Dan " Isabella did a thumbs up
" I knew you were going to like it " Her dad smiled. The area beside his eyes crinkled. Seeing his daughter beam with happiness was something he hadn't seen in a long time especially after her mom travelled to South Africa because of work.
" How's school? Made any new friends?"
Isa rolled her eyes.
" I see you haven't made anyone "
" Yeah... it's the same as the good old days " Her dad laughed.
" Really? Anyways, don't get into trouble with kids who don't like you. Remember not to get bullied also"
" Yeah...yeah...I get it "
" I'll talk to you later " He said waving his hand.
" Byebye" Isabella hung up the phone and called Annie immediately.
She told her about the car and explained how it's gonna take a month to drive the car because she couldn't drive properly. Annie didn't need a car since she lived in the school premises.
Isa couldn't wait to flaunt her red sports car especially to Karen's face.
