Chapter 1 - Day 1 - An EN2 Practice After Districts 1/23/23

I showed up to practice ready to work hard and to get better. During my high school practice, we did a decently hard main set. The main set was 4x (4x125 1:35 8x25 e: spring o: easy on :45). It was the start of a really long day. During that set I felt really sore from my HS District swim meet Saturday 1/21/23. I didn't really rest up for this meet during club practice. I was working as hard as I could every day to get better, and it really showed at the meet. My coach was there to watch and he was proud that I was able to go top speed while being tired. But anyways on to the LAC practice.

We had dryland outside. It's really fun with the winter/fall weather we have here in Texas. We did a lot of fun exercises that hurt your brain. Hot dog roll? Idk what it's called but you just go in plank position and do 360s over and over and it makes you really dizzy. After that we got into plank and did some downward dog toe touches which were... fun. After we went into frog position (basically a deep squat) and we hopped around chasing Coach Andrew around. It hurt my knees, but it was fun for the most part. After that I hoped to do more, but Coach Andrew said we were warmed up enough and we headed inside to start practice.

Warm up was really easy, we did a lot of 100s, 50s, and 25s of backstroke. I got to try a nose plug from Luke. It was a really interesting experience, because I was able to do more underwaters. It felt really nice to be able to hold my breath for longer than like, 5 yards!

THE MAIN SET... BUM BUM BUMMMM

It was 5x250 IMish (Fly, Free, Back, Breast, Free) on 3:30. It was... fun! Definitely. At first, I felt good till like when the 5th 250 when I started to feel sore, and all the weekend pain in my neck, side, arms, etc. came back. It was suchhh a fun experience. And after that we did 4x(4x100 1:15 4x100 :10 RI 4x100 1:20 4x100 20 RI) I died on that. My left kneecap started to have a sharp pain when I kicked, which very much affected my performance. I was holding mostly 1:10s, not very good, but it was the best I could do. At least it wasn't the 8,7,6,5 100s.

Finally came the mental training. It was after our practice. We talked about breathing and how serial killers have like similar soft palates and they breath from their mouth... It was interesting. I breathe from my mouth, I must be a serial killer then, right? jk. I'm not. Don't quote me on that. Anyways after that very interesting talk we did an activity where we had to breathe through a straw and balloon and throw a paper ball into a cup. I didn't really understand the point of that, or I just didn't remember what Coach Jasmine said. But she got really mad and by really mad I mean really extremely super-duper mad at us because we wouldn't be quiet and let her talk, which resulted in us getting kicked out and no more activities. Great!

Anyways that's day one of my short story entry hope you enjoyed it!
