Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Waking Up

A lone octopus in between 3 rocks slowly blinked its eyes as it looked around groggily in confusion, before its eyes shot wide open as it remembered what happened.

'Did I evolve yet?' Oliver thought to himself before he slowly pushed himself out of his little makeshift hidey hole.

Oliver jolted wide awake as he heard these notification go off in his head.

'Skill Menu? Skill Points? I gotta see this, get me outta here!'

As he squeezed into the exit, he certainly felt like something had changed about him, because at the current moment, he actually couldn't fit through the gap between the rocks anymore!

Pushhhhhhh... PUSHHHHHHH!

PLOP!

Oliver's body blasted through the water as he finally managed to unlodge himself from his old home.

Huahhhhh... I think next time I evolve I'll remember to think about where I am before I do it...

Oliver shuddered as he imagined himself growing to new strengths only to be confined by his own stupidity.

'Luckily I didn't keep on searching for a truly tight fit earlier on.' he said to himself as he glanced downwards towards his new body.

Woahhhhh...

Looking at himself, Oliver had probably doubled in size at least compared to his previous mud octopus form.

His natural skin color also changed from a dusty brown, to a more murky greenish color which was similar some of the moss and algae growing on the rocks around him.

If before he was a 6 inch, brown turd looking octopus, now he was at least a 1 foot (.3 meters) long piece of seaweed and he weighed probably 3 times as much as he did before as well!

Also looking at and flexing his tentacles, it was obvious that they had grown a lot more compared to the rest of him.

You know what that meant?

More POWAAAAA!!!

'System, lemme see that status!'

Holy crap! My status practically had increased more than twice what it was it was before!

With stats like these there's a chance that I could even take on that Python which invaded by nest when I was born!

I don't actually know some of the stats of that python though, I'm guessing because it was so much stronger than me?

I'll have to start to fighting some stronger creatures then in order to find out.

For now I think I should move onto some stronger prey.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind hunting down all the Guppys in this kelp forest, but at this point I don't really think that it's worth it.

When I was level 4 I wasn't getting much experience nor mutagens from the guppys anymore, so if I want to keep up the pace with both of those, then I definitely have to fight stronger creatures.

With that I think that I can either fight some of the crabs that I've seen crawling around, or I could also go exploring out of my little zone.

I'm pretty sure that there are gonna be different species of creatures somewhere near me, but I'm probably going to have to put myself into more danger in order to actually hunt them.

I also need to try and focus on improving my skills as well!

They have also have been stagnating from my Guppy hunts and I would imagine for the same reason. I think they best way to grow in this world Is to fight stronger opponents.

What in fact what are all of the ways I can improve my skills system?

Oh? I understand the first way to increase my skills. Obviously they've been increasing slowly over time as I used them, but to think that I could find someone to teach me about the skills?

How would I find somebody like that? I'm not even sure if there are humans in this world and even if there were, would they really know more about using tentacles then me?

I feel like I might not want to meet the human who does, I feel like they might have some weird tendencies...

I guess other creatures would be my only other choice then... But I have yet to discover a single other intelligent creature.

Then again Guppy's probably aren't considered to be the most intelligent of species so it's no wonder why I haven't really been able to meet anyone capable of speech.

System! How do I even get skill points?

If that's the case then I should try and just focus on my current abilities. I want to try and keep my skill levels around the same number as my actual level.

In terms of my two types of abilities, active and passive I think that they're pretty straight forward.

Active abilities such as Ink Cloud and Camouflage, I need to actually think about to activate.

For passive abilities however, they just activate when needed such as tentacle grab activating when I touch something or regeneration activating when I lost one of my arms.

'Ok, ok...I get it then' Oliver mused.

'I should start slow then, bide my time and get used to my new body and then hunt bigger and bigger prey.'

Let's hunt!
