Chapter 6 - Rain

I had to admit I was lost. At first I knew which direction I was going thanks to the Sun. Except as I traveled it slowly became night. I took the risk of just sleeping under the tree. The risk did prove that the forest was safe from most predators. However it did have birds, deer and many small mammals. So something was eating here and I just didn't know what. No life cycle was sustained by herbivores alone. At least one such as this one. Certain islands or what not had closed cycles, but a forest connected to valleys and hills. It meant it connected to a bigger ecosystem as a whole.

Which brought me to my second reason of being lost, the sun I had used previously to know my direction was now gone replaced by dark clouds. I didn't expect it to rain, but it was clear it was about to. Which meant number 1 I would be naked, cold and drenched in rain. Number 2 I was lost even more due to being unable to navigate the terrain.

I still hadn't gotten used to my new feet. When I walked on all fours having hooves wasn't a big deal. However with how my legs bent slightly it made walking a cumbersome process. Mud would make that 100% worse.

The first droplet fell onto my nose and slipped of my fur. I sighed as I knew I had to find somewhere to live and quickly. I stomped along the trees following the small paths I could see. As I walked more I started to notice small cuts into trees and I smiled.

Intelligent life, if I had to guess. Goblins! This was honestly what I was looking for. Goblins had previously attacked the farm before and sure I could go back there shelter. However I had no idea the chances of the knights still being there or even just the other cows. With how I dispatched the goblins as a normal calf?

I prepared my self for a fight. I could fight them, even just fucking around I had figured out I could topple a tree if I ran into it hard enough. Which meant against goblins my strength could crush them.

I grabbed a sapling of the ground and ripped it out of its roots. Sure it wasn't as heavy or thick as one of the bigger trees I could hold, but I could use the sapling as a whip kinda. I started trying my best to sneak around as a dirty path was starting to form in the grass. I didn't know if any goblins were in trees or something. The idea of a scout could be a problem.

I jumped as a twig cracked behind me. however what had actually happened was i had set off a trap made for a human sized individual. Scratching my head I looked around slumping down into a bush. Taking a second to just scan the area I found that their were string within the trees. They seemed to be a detection method. If the trap was triggered the strings would send an alert. It was clever.

Goblins in this world may be closer to something of a gnome maybe? Like those fantasy steam punk settings. Though they lived in the woods... Perhaps they were on the verge of becoming civilized?

My answers were confirmed when a goblin entered the path. He checked the trap and looked around before placing a small ribbon on the tree. Looking at it, I could tell it was a symbol. Likely a warning? That seemed right.

Just as the goblin turned I jumped out of my bush and stumbled a bit. However i had swung down on the goblin with my sapling and cracked it skull in two. I got the message for killing it and everything. Which meant even if I don't hit a goblin perfectly i would kill them. I paused and thought for a second....

-----

I charged straight into the goblin's path and even when I heard the noises of alarm I kept running until I found a small clearing. It was the goblin camp and they were set up against a grove that ran into the ground. I could see the work they had put into to build its shelter.

"Chu! Chu! Mak Tauren, Fousa!"

A goblin that was bigger than the others took charge. I had no idea if it was special, but if it was the one taking the lead it meant they were important. Jumping i grabbed onto the top of their wall I pushed it down. Two goblins pointed spears at me at to kite me, but I grabbed a spear and pulled. The goblin tripped over and i threw the spear at the bigger goblin. My aim wasn't great and it hit him in the shoulder. So I let them slowly back me up against a corner.

For them I must've looked in trouble, but now with them surrounding me I flicked the sapling in a way that caused a cracking sound. It made several of the goblins stumble or back up. However the leader still gave out orders as they begun attack me. Unfortunately for them the moment they stepped forward they got caught in the mud. The rain was coming down much harder and thanks to my hooves the mud wasn't a big deal for me. For the shoe-less goblins though?

It made them easy to slap around due to them unable to run. The moment one did they would either slip or trip. Either or allowed me to stomp down on their bodies and crush them. They were smart with using tactics, but sadly they didn't account for their environment. They had walked so many paths that it had caused easy creation of mud.

Once the goblin warriors seemingly were dispatched I walked into their camp. None were outside the camp area so i walked into the out-cove they made. Just inside I found the rest of the goblins. A few children, some elderly and surprisingly women? They had covered chests so i guess they were female goblins. I didn't expect that.

Nonetheless I towered over them and the goblins that stood before me shook. I couldn't really speak and even now I didn't think the words that would come out would be understandable due to a language barrier. So I pointed out of the out-cove, while miming if they stayed I'd kill them.

One brave goblin stood up and shouted, "Bak! To Miki Lan Shuri! Bak! No bak do Gob."

I squinted slightly and processed. it seemed he was saying they'd die of they left. However I didn't care for them, so I grabbed him by his neck and squeezed. His neck broke and I dropped him. The other goblins took the hint and ran out into the rain. Though not much of a hint it was as I watched them take their stuff and run. Some didn't bother to take anything, but when they saw me watch them they just gathered what they could and left.

I fell backwards to sit down. A leak was dripping water down into the out-cove forming a puddle so, before finally relaxing I took of the small bag I had from my shoulder and stared into the puddle. A poor reflect stared back and I just took note of my face.

It seemed I had a completely black coat of fluff. I didn't really expect to be fluffy, and yet I was. I leaned back and sighed. I guess I should check my status and block of the entrance of this out-cove just encase. I needed sleep and I didn't want any goblins stabbing me in my sleep.
