John just stood there and watched as the family were talking and laughing, completely ignoring him. Seeing as he wasn't needed here and was ignored he decided to return to his room to rest for awhile. His room was located on the domestic quarter of the house.
When John Lewis got into his room, he laid down on his bed and a tear fell down from his face as kept remembering all the sufferings, maltreatments and name calling that he had been going through ever since he came to this house just because his parents were poor. Just thinking about his parents, he started missing them. Even though his parents were poor, they treated him very nicely and they always live harmoniously and he was their only child.
When he thought of all these sufferings, he just kept saying to himself "John Lewis you just have to endure this suffering for a year, just one more year I will be through with my studies and then I will be able to move out of this hell hole of a house "
"Is it a crime to be poor? Does being poor means that I have to be treated less than a dog?"
Ring Ring Ring
John Lewis was brought out of his thoughts when his phone started ringing and when he saw that it was his mother calling, he calm down and composed himself not to give anything away.
This was because John has never complained to his parents about all the maltreatments that he had been going through in his Uncle's house because:
Firstly, He doesn't want his parents to worry about him and the second reason was that he doesn't want them to feel guilty because they will blame themselves for his sufferings because of their inability to provide for him.
"John my son how are you? " was what John heard when he answered the phone
"Mom I'm fine". John responded flatly
"John is everything alright? Why is your voice like that?" His mother became worried and asked after hearing the tone of John's voice
John panicked and quickly came up with a lie "Mom everything is fine and I was woken up by your phone call that's why my voice is like this"
"Oh ok, if you say so. So how is your Uncle, his wife and your siblings " John mother's asked
"That's good, I will be hanging up now John. Make sure to take good care of yourself and make sure to always concentrate on your studies" she said
To which John smile and reply by saying that "Mom you don't have to worry, don't you know who your son is? I will pass with good grades".
John could over heard his father saying "stopping bragging you brat and just so you know you got your intelligence from me"
"What did you say?" his mother question his father to which he sheepishly said "Hahaha, I was just joking, of course he got his intelligence from you"
"Is good that you know. Take and talk to your son" his mother said to his father. John laughed at their banter, he really missed his parents
"Like your mother said take care of yourself and and concentrate well on your studies. We will call you another time" John's Father said
"Okay, I will listen to you and mom. Bye dad, bye mom". John greeted his parents good bye and hang up the phone.
When John hung up the phone, it didn't take long for him to receive a notification message to his phone.
Ding
"You have received 2000$ into your account from 650xxxxxxxx. Your new balance is now 2500$" While he was still reading the bank notification, he received another message
Ding
And this message was from his mother which says "Son I could hear from your voice that something is wrong with and I know you surely lack money, so just manage that money that I just sent to you. Your father and I have to go the farm. So take care and be safe"
John held the phone tightly and smiled. He kept back his phone in his pocket and decided to take a nap when he heard someone calling his name.
