Chereads / Idle of live and death / Chapter 3 - Why me

Chapter 3 - Why me

Claud could see a strange creature floating in the air in front of him.

It is big, nearly as big as an skyscraper. It's body is black in color and his skin looked like it consists out of thousands of worms and insects moving around, wanting to eat every piece of flesh on its body, making it look terrifying.

It didn't possess a mouth, nose or ears and only had six slots that looked like its closed eyes.

It sat in an cultivation position in the middle of the air, cross legged with it's hands laying on it's lap, looking like it came straight out of an old myth.

It had six transparent wings on his back, black in color, which someone could and couldn't see at the same time. It's hands and legs were way longer than its other body parts, and it made an rather terrifying first impression as it stared directly at Claud with its eyes closed.

Claud stared back at its eyes, or the place where they were supposed to be located, and felt tons of emotions as thousands of thought crossed his mind, all coming to the same word.

„Run!!" before his thought were even completed, he ran full sprint in the opposite direction of the wretch. Making a full sprint into an invisible wall.

He felt like a game character reaching the border of the world. As he looked down, right before his feet, he couldn't see anything other than nothingness, no colors, no life forms nor stars or planets.

As his mind claimed down and he slowly fell into despair, he heard a fatherly voice from behind.

„Apologies for my rude matters, I haven't had an interaction with a being in a very long time, child" said an old man with white hair and a white beard calmly to him.

He was about 3meters in height and had a muscular body that was covered by a unique suit with a style from the 1950s. He made the impression of an typical grandpa and if Claud didn't saw his appearance earlier, he would have let him in his house with a warm smile.

The man gave of a father-like scent that calmed the mind of Claud, an orphan, and he instinctively calmed down as he listened to the mans next words.

„Let me introduce myself first, I am a God, to be exact, the first god to ever exist"

As Claud heard the news, he didn't know what to do nor how to act in front of a diving being itself. So he just stood there like a statue, not moving a muscle under the massive pressure he felt from the being that called itself a god.

Origi chuckled lightly by his behavior as he said: „ No need to be so nervous. I don't want to harm you, in fact I only give you win-win situations!"

Claud relaxed while still being respectful around the man. He asked the omniscient being the question he wanted to know the most.

„ What am I doing here and where am I?" he nervously looked the man in the eyes as he asked the question, fearing he might be angry about it.

As Claud prepared for the worst, he was met with a warm smile from the grandpa before he slowly explained.

„First of all, my name is Origi and as I said, I'm the first existence in the universe. We are currently located in a contract chamber especially made for this kind of event."

„ What kind of event?" asked Claud with serious look on his face.

„ The contract establishment." was the answer he received from Origi.

„ What exactly is this contract for and what will I win and lose" Claud asked

„Hohoho, you will win your life back, even greater than before, with this contract and lose nothing!" Origi said with a proud face.

Claud didn't believe him one bit. He was often scammed by his client and lost lots of money.

„ What is this contract for?" he asked with a suspicious look.

Origi laughed when he saw the look on Clauds face and said.

„It's a contract that will help a god like me and a mortal like you and it's common under us gods"

After he said that, he looked at Claud to see if he listened carefully, seeing the serious look on Clauds face he continued.

„As you may or may not know, gods can't become stronger through mortal training and can't die through mortal methods. Gods get stronger the more believer they have and disappear if the don't have a single one left"

Claud seemed to understand and Origi continued his explanation.

„If you sign this contract, you will be transported to the Origin world. It's the first world in the universe and the birthplace of gods and the abode of the weak ones.

It is unknown and full of mysteries. Not even I was able to see its whole appearance. It has countless different powers and more techniques to improve them. Thousands of ancient tombs with great opportunities, dungeons with treasures and weapons that can shatter stars."

Clauds heart beat loudly as he heard that. He wasn't a warrior by all means but when he imagined himself, fighting monsters and equal enemies, he felt his body filling with excitement.

Origi chuckled when he saw his shocked face and continued.

„Gods chose mortals all over the universe to give them their powers and send them to Origin."

Claud, who was carefully listening, asked Origi out of curiosity.

„Why do they do this? The Gods, I mean why di they send us mortals to their birthplace?"

„As I said earlier, Gods get stronger through the number of their believer. They send their partner, after the contract is done, to the biggest world in the universe to make a name of themself and improve their believer"Origin answered

„So every follower of their partner is automatically their believer" Claud said to make sure he understood

„Exactly" Origin confirmed before adding

„To help their partner reach bigger heights, they give them their power. The stronger the god the more power they can give"

„You must be one of the strongest gods?" Claud asked before adding „So, you can give me a huge amount of power"

Origis face twisted slightly as he heard Claud and said.

„Every god can only give their power. For example, The God of Fire can only give powers with fire. I'm the God of Origin or the Original God. I can't give you a specific power, only a way for you to archive every power with hard work"

Origis answer brought Claud into doubt and hope. He was excited to be the strongest in the world but wondered if he could survive without a cheat. In his thoughts, he realized something and asked Origi.

„If I'm being transported to Origin, there must be other chosen ones there. Are there any from you"

„As for the first question, there are indeed countless others just like you, and the ones you have to avoid are the top-tank transmigrator that formed contracts with the strongest gods.

They are mortals that ruled sun systems and have, in your language, OP cheats"

Claud shrugged when he heard that and wondered.

„Do they even have competition if they are that strong?"

Origi chuckled lightly before saying in a mysterious tone.

„You have to see the strength of Origin and its habitants to find out."

Claud wondered about the strength of the monsters and other species before coming to his last question and the one he has been the most curious about.

„Why me, than?" he asked Origi who didn't fully understood the context.

„What?" he asked

„ I mean. If you have to chose a strong mortal, why did you chose me and not, for example, my master who died besides me!" he asked with tears in his eyes.

Origi wore a smile on his face and answered.

„I think you don't now your true worth."

„My true worth? What's so special about me. I'm a mere assistant who can't do anything! So what is worthy about me?" he asked, sobbing like a 5year old.

„If you want to now, you have to find out in your new life" Origi said Ogway like before clapping his wrinkled hands and saying.

„Enough of that. I will give you my support for the new world before transporting you there"

Clauds tears stopped and he locked up to Origi, expecting something grand, just to be met with the deformed face of an old grandpa.

He jumped back, startled, looking at the old man slowly turning into a big black shadow with moving skin.He remembered their first encounter and wanting to ask Origi why he transformed but was interrupted by a sharp pain in his organs.

Augh,cough,brrgh

As he coughed up blood, Claud looked up to Origi just to be met with six brightly shining eyes, all purple in color.

„Origi!!" Cloud screamed trying to reach the god „ What is th-rgh for? What are yo doing?" he roared while fighting the urge to vomit more blood.

As Claud wanted to shout to Origi once more, Origi pierced one of his eyeballs with his right hand, tearing it out of its socket. The eyeball shrunk as he slowly moved it to Claud.

As it arrived before Claud, if was the size of a bean.

„ Eat it!" said Origin in an unquestionable tone. Nothing fron his former kind self. The loud voice of Origi brought Claud back to reality as he looked at the purple pill in the gigantic palm in front of him. He toke the pill with shaky legs and put it slowly in his mouth.

A creamy sensation spread in his mouth as the pill transformed in a kind of liquid and flowed into Claud's body, reaching his soul.

Swish, arrgh

As the purple liquid's sensation slowly disappeared, flames of the same color started appearing around Claud, after seconds went by he was in the middle of a purple fire and lost his consciousness, disappearing from the contract chamber

Origi looked at the spot where he stood and smiled lightly „ I hope you will archive world shattering results, child" he said in an fatherly tone before vanishing from the chamber disappearing into the mysterious galaxy.
