Mokami found himself walking through the halls of UA Hero Academy, his mind occupied with what Aizawa said in the class. As it was break, he felt the urge to visit the restroom, and he began to make his way there.
Suddenly, as he was about to enter the men's room, a hand reached out and yanked him into the female bathroom. Confused and disoriented, Mokami looked around, trying to make sense of the situation. His eyes met Ashido Mina, the girl responsible for pulling him into the unexpected location.
"Mina, what the hell are you doing?" Mokami asked, his voice a mixture of surprise and amusement.
Ashido frowned at him, clearly irritated. "Why haven't you made a move on me yet, Mokami? I've been openly flirting with you since school started, and I know you're interested in me, too."
Mokami's gaze faltered, unsure of how to respond. He couldn't deny his attraction to Ashido, but he had reasons for not pursuing her.
Ashido, sensing his hesitation, pressed forward. "Well? What's your excuse?"
Mokami finally sighed, resigned to the truth. "There's someone else in our class who's in love with you, Mina. I didn't know how to handle that situation, and with all the chaos going on in the country, I haven't had time to figure it out."
At first, Ashido appeared shocked by this revelation. Then, her expression morphed into anger. "Why should I care if someone else likes me or not, Mokami? I'm my own person, and it doesn't matter how many people like or love me. I chose you, and if you like me too, then you should man up and make a move!"
Her frustration was palpable, and Mokami couldn't help but feel guilty for his indecisiveness. "Just because someone else is in love with me doesn't mean I should sacrifice my own happiness," Ashido continued, her voice resolute. "Should I give up on you just because girls chasing after you like hungry dogs? It is not how that works, Mokami."
Mokami knew she was right. It wasn't fair to either of them to put their feelings on hold because of someone else's unrequited love. He took a deep breath, his resolve strengthening.
"You're right, Mina," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I shouldn't have let someone else's feelings dictate our actions. If we both like each other, then we should give ourselves a chance to explore those feelings."
Ashido's eyes softened, and a small smile graced her lips. "I'm glad you finally see it that way, Mokami. Now, let's get out of here before someone catches us and starts spreading rumors. But before that," A mischievous smile spread across Mina's face as she playfully tilted her head. "...in any case, you owe me a nice and expensive date to make up for your hesitation," she demanded, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Mokami chuckled and nodded. "Alright, Mina, you've got yourself a deal."
Despite Mina's protests, Mokami relieved his frustration in one of the toilets, before he left. Since she pulled him in there, she should take responsibility. Together, they walked to the cafeteria and joined their classmates at a large table. Mokami glanced at Kirishima, the red-headed student who harbored feelings for Mina, and sighed inwardly. As Mina had pointed out, the choice was ultimately hers, and she had chosen Mokami. There was nothing Kirishima could do about it.
As the school day came to an end, Mokami said his goodbyes to Momo, and accompanied Mina to a charming cafe not far from the academy. Despite Mina's request for an expensive date, Mokami knew she was just teasing him and that she would be more than happy with a cozy spot like this.
The two of them settled into a quiet corner of the cafe, the warm atmosphere enveloping them as they sipped on their drinks. Mokami took the opportunity to ask Mina about her internship, genuinely interested in her experiences.
"So, Mina, how did your internship go?" he inquired, his eyes filled with curiosity.
Mina's face lit up as she began to recount her week with Equipped Hero: Yoroi Musha. "It was absolutely amazing, Mokami! I learned so much from him, and I feel like I grew as a hero in just a short amount of time."
Mokami listened intently, enjoying the enthusiasm in her voice as she shared her experiences. "Yoroi Musha taught me a lot about strategy and the importance of being prepared for any situation. He also showed me some new techniques to use with my Quirk."
Mina's eyes sparkled as she continued, "But it wasn't just the practical lessons that made the internship so special. Yoroi Musha was also incredibly kind and supportive, always pushing me to do my best and never hesitating to give me advice or encouragement."
As they continued to talk, Mokami asked about Mina's family and her parents' Quirks. Mina shared that her mother had a Quirk allowing her to grow her horn, while her father had pink skin that didn't offer any additional abilities. Mina considered herself lucky that the combination of her parents' Quirks had resulted in her own unique acid and mutation Quirk.
Their conversation flowed easily, the two of them feeling more connected than ever before. As the afternoon sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the cafe, Mokami couldn't help but feel grateful for the bond he and Mina were developing.
As they prepared to leave the cafe, Mokami turned to Mina, his heart filled with sincerity. "Mina, I want you to know that I'm genuinely excited about getting to know you better and seeing where our relationship goes."
Mina smiled warmly, her eyes shining with happiness. "I feel the same way, Mokami. I think we have something really special here, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us."
Mokami and Mina continued their leisurely stroll, eventually reaching the train station where Mina would board her train home. As they stood on the platform, Mina felt a pang of sadness at the prospect of parting ways.
"Today was really great, Mina. Thank you for spending it with me," Mokami said, his voice gentle and sincere.
Mina smiled warmly, her eyes reflecting her happiness. "I had a wonderful time too, Mokami. I'm looking forward to our next date already."
With a final embrace, Mokami watched as Mina boarded her train, her bright smile lingering in his mind as the train pulled away from the station.
As Mokami began his walk home, he couldn't help but think about his growing relationship with Mina. He found her incredibly attractive, her unique appearance and vibrant personality drawing him in like a moth to a flame. He knew that his hesitation in pursuing her had been due to his concern for Kirishima's feelings, but Mina's words had resonated deeply with him. Life was full of difficult choices, and sometimes, people were left disappointed or hurt. In this case, he had to prioritize his own feelings and Mina's over Kirishima's unrequited love.
As he mulled over these thoughts, Mokami knew that he would have to face Kirishima and have an honest conversation about the situation. While he didn't want to cause his friend any pain, it was important to be upfront about his feelings for Mina and the nature of their relationship.
Mokami couldn't shake the feeling that he was embarking on something truly special with Mina. The connection they shared was undeniable, and he was eager to see how their relationship would develop and grow. As he walked, Mokami felt a mixture of excitement and trepidation. He knew there would be challenges along the way, but he was willing to face them head-on for the chance to be with someone as extraordinary as Mina.
As he continued his walk, Mokami passed by a poster for an upcoming theater performance. The poster featured a pair of actors, their faces full of joy and love, while a shadowy figure lurked in the background, his expression forlorn and filled with longing. Strikingly, the figure was accompanied by a floating hand, its outstretched fingers seeming to reach for something unattainable. Mokami paused for a moment, taking in the scene. He couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding, as if the poster was a reflection of not just his own situation.
With a determined stride, Mokami continued his walk home, his heart filled with hope and anticipation for the future he and Mina would build together. And yet, that nagging feeling persisted, a subtle reminder that not all love stories have a happy ending.
