Chapter 2 - Levin Durahan

The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the low visual point. Looking around, I realized I was in the body of a newborn. My mind began racing with thoughts and questions as I felt the small hands and soft skin.

It became apparent that I must have died in my previous life, after defeating Aldrit, the demon dragon. And now, I have been reborn in the same world I once fought to protect. I wonder how much time have passed by since my death.

I inhaled deeply and gazed around the room. It was lavish, with an ornate chandelier hanging from the ceiling and pricey-looking tapestries on the walls. This was clearly a room in a noble mansion, and I pondered how I ended up up here.

When I tried to move my body, I was surprised to discover that I had complete control over it. Even in this new form, it seemed that I had retained some of my previous life's abilities and knowledge. So, I would shortly regain all of my powers within time.

As I looked around, I heard footsteps approaching the door, and a woman entered the room. She was very beautiful despite her age with brown hair and blue eyes. She had a kind smile on her face as she picked me up and held me in her arms.

"Hello, my little one," she said softly. "How are you feeling?"

I gurgled in response, not quite able to form words yet.

The woman chuckled and continued to hold me, rocking me gently back and forth. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough. You're going to grow up to be a fine young man, I can already tell."

I couldn't help but wonder who this woman was and what her connection was to me. But before I could ask, the door opened again, and a man entered the room.

He was tall and imposing, with a stern expression on his face. "Is everything all right, Elise?" he asked, his voice gruff.

"Yes, Lord Durahan," the woman, Lady Elise, replied. "Our little one seems to be doing just fine."

Lord Durahan walked over to us and looked down at me. "He looks healthy enough," he muttered. "But we can't be too careful. We need to make sure he grows up strong and healthy, just like our eldest."

It was then that I realized that I had been reborn into the Durahan family, a powerful and wealthy noble family. I didn't know what my role was in this family, or why I had been reborn here, but I knew that I needed to find out.

As I looked up at Lord Durahan, I felt a sense of familiarity. An attractive, upright, aristocratic middle-aged noble. With his sword brows resting on his temples, his visage was as armored as a blade and an axe. I felt like as if I had known him in my previous life, and I wondered if he could sense the same thing.

But before I could dwell on it further, my mother, Lady Elise spoke up. "Lord Durahan, we need to come up with a name for our little one. Any ideas?"

My father, Lord Durahan frowned and looked at me again. "He's a strong little thing, isn't he? How about we name him Levin, after the Durahan family's founder Nivel Durahan's name written backwards?"

Oh, Nivel Durahan? He was undoubtedly a powerful individual who fought the 'others' alongside me using his lightning-attributed magic hundred year ago. So it seems I was reborn after a hundred years huh.

Anyways, my name is Levin now. The name didn't mean anything to me, but it seemed to fit my new identity. I was Levin Durahan, a prominent noble family's second son. And even though I had been reborn after a hundred years into a new body, I knew that I still had a destiny to fulfill.

As Lady Elise and Lord Durahan continued to discuss my future, I closed my eyes and concentrated. I could feel the power within me, the remnants of my previous life, and I knew that I had to harness it in order to protect this world once again.
