Since mom knew I saw a big snake beside the garden, she forbade me to go there or play in the river area. It's just that there is something that confuses me, is it a magical snake or is it really a snake that grows to that size? But... If snakes were real, mom'd see them too, right? Ah never mind.
A few days later, at that time I was walking home after playing in the front court with my friends. I walked and my eyes fixed on a stick lying a few meters in front of me.
"What is that stick?" I muttered as I approached and observed.
From what I remember, the stick was about a meter long. Brown in color, made of sturdy and shiny wood, but there is something unique, at the end of the head of the stick there is a carving shaped like the head of a snake that is opening its mouth.
You have to remember one thing, I saw that it was really a stick made of wood. I even had time to touch the stick with bare feet and I was sure that it was really a stick.
After observing the stick I looked around, who knew the owner was there. But apparently, no one. Because I don't want to take things that don't belong to me, I finally let the stick stay where it was, then I walked back and stepped on it.
But when I had passed the strange stick, suddenly from the terrace of the house my mother immediately shouted "Watch out for Nimas... There is a snake!" she screams were so loud and hysterical.
"Snake?"
"Yes, behind your feet there is a snake! Quickly get away from there or you will be bitten!" mother shouted now getting panicked.
I was even more confused, my mother shouted and invited several residents so that they flocked to my mother. "What's wrong? Why are you screaming like that?" asked one of the people.
"That sir, please... There is a snake that wants to attack my child"
At that time, the residents who were present were very surprised and scared to look at me, I was even more confused. Finally I looked to the right and left, there was absolutely no snake there.
But, when I turned around... Suddenly a snake the size of an adult's arm was standing straight up looking at me while sticking out its tongue.
I was silent, my eyes could not budge from the gaze of the snake.
Trembling and scared, but completely unable to move the body, even the sound is stuck at the base of the neck.
I told you, at the start that I saw a stick with the head of a snake. But somehow the stick disappeared and now there is a snake in front of me.
Somehow even though I felt very scared, but the mysterious snake's gaze seemed to transmit some feeling to me. There are happy and sad feelings, it's really very confusing. In fact I was very sure that the snake would not hurt me.
My hand wanted to move to touch the snake's forehead, but I didn't have time to do it suddenly from another direction one of the residents immediately hit the snake with a wooden block very hard.
"BUUKKK" the hard punch hit the snake's head.
The snake tried to run away, immediately I sat down limply, between the feeling of relief and other feelings that are difficult for me to explain.
Other residents immediately joined in beating the snake, some used wood, some used stones. I still sat quietly watching that scene, somehow I felt a little sad and sorry.
At that moment mother immediately came over and hugged me, but my gaze still did not budge from the poor snake.
"Sir. Don't kill him!" I screamed hysterically.
But the residents didn't listen to me at all, in the end I got up and Mendo one by one the residents to stay away and stop beating the snake.
"Don't kill the snake, don't!!!" I shouted while crying.
"Don't kill? What's wrong kid? This snake almost bit you!" replied one of the residents.
I was silent, my breath short. The snake's head had been shattered shapelessly, but its body was still squirming weakly.
The snake is indeed very dangerous, especially if it is that big. But I don't want the snake to die, it's sad. I don't understand what I felt at that time. Mother came close and pulled me away, but my eyes didn't want to take away from the poor snake.
"Are you all right my daughter?" mother asked while checking my limbs, she was afraid that the snake had bitten me earlier.
"Mother... The snake didn't hurt me but why did they kill it?! Isn't it enough to just drive it away? The snake will definitely go away" I said sobbing.
Mother stared at me silently and was confused by my attitude, at that time my mother said my tone was very different from usual, but I felt normal. It's just a feeling that's hard to describe.
Residents have stopped hitting. One of them held the tail of a lifeless snake and then they threw it into the river.
I cried louder and sadder, my mother immediately hugged me and carried me into the house.
When I got home my mother immediately gave me a drink, she tried to calm me down and rubbed my back. At that time she thought that I was traumatized and scared to see the snake's head split open and bleeding, she thought I was traumatized by that.
Even though actually I was also sad when I saw the snake die but never mind, I can't do anything. It's all happened.
"Nimas, can you tell me what happened? Did you not see the snake when you were walking home?" asked the head of the village, he came to the house to see how I was.
"I didn't see a snake at all, all I saw was a stick" I answered honestly.
"Well, maybe what you thought was a stick turned out to be a snake. You haven't realized that what you saw was actually a snake"
